Questions & Answers

does new growth come on dead branches. When and how to prune

does new growth come on dead branches. When and how to prune
Asked by: Mickey
Hi Michey, Quick Fire Hydrangea bloom on new wood, which means itcan be pruned in spring and will still bloom that season. We recommend cutting it back by about one-third its total height in early spring, just as the new growth is beginning to emerge on the stems. This will serve to remove the spent blooms and ensure that the season's growth comes from the heavier, thicker buds further down the plant. If you have any other questions, feel free to call our hotline at (734) 654-7485. Best regards, Amanda

Do pollinators like this?

They do not like hybrid plants
Asked by: Sassydoc
Hi Sassydoc, The Quick Fire Hydrangea is not known to specifically attract bees. While it is not listed as one of our plants that attracts pollinators, they may still spend some time around the plant. If you have any additional questions, feel free to call our hotline at (734) 654-7485. Thanks, Hailee

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique hydrangea While this hydrangea appears to be a rather unique variety, I thought it was a bit pricey for it's small size. Granted the small size is due to it being a very young shrub but it still seemed expensive. I say this hydrangea is unique because it starts out blooming in white flowers which change to pink and then the pink deepens as it goes through the season. Full size is estimated to be 72-96" high as well as wide. It claims it's easy to grow and maintain and is drought tolerant--YEAH! It can be planted where there is sun or up to 1/2 day shade in zones 3-9. Because of it's small size right now, I think this will be a very easy shrub to plant and get established in my yard.

There is a single thin stem about one finger long and nothing else. My husband planted it not knowing I was going to return. He said he thought this only cost 3 bucks or so. Wouldn't have gotten it if I knew. The picture shown will be your plant ten years later lol.
