  • Cost-competitive decorative hardwood plywood

Exquisite hardwood grains run along the length of this PureBond Maple Plywood Project Panel, featuring rotary-cut veneers from domestically grown, sustainably harvested trees that exhibit the warmth and timeless quality of natural timber. The 7-ply panel is comprised of 100% wood (no MDF or particleboard), boasting a yellow poplar core substrate layered in cross-band formation to fortify its flatness and strength. The soy-based PureBond technology is formaldehyde-free, producing a water-resistant, nontoxic decorative plywood panel that is not prone to warp like solid wood and will not emit harmful fumes like UF-constructed sheets. A cost-competitive alternative to composite panels that may degrade interior air quality over time, this hardwood plywood from Columbia Forest Products is a superb choice for DIYers and professional tradesmen looking for stellar results on their next woodworking project.
  • 7-Ply hardwood plywood panel is assembled with smooth, patch-free decorative maple veneers
  • PureBond hardwood plywood is an environmentally friendly, cost-competitive alternative to panels manufactured with urea formaldehyde (UF), which may degrade air quality over time
  • Contains 100% natural wood bonded with a food-grade soy-based adhesive that does not emit toxic air contaminants
  • Decorative top and bottom veneers, measuring approximately 1/42 in. thick, exhibit the beauty and timeless quality of natural hardwood and are suitable for painting or staining
  • Water-resistant composition has a higher moisture tolerance than UF panels and is less likely to warp than solid wood
  • Allow panel to acclimate to interior climate conditions for several days before customizing - for interior applications only
  • For best cutting results, use an 80-tooth (or greater) table saw blade intended for sheet goods or a carbide-tipped circular saw plywood blade
  • Common: 3/4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft.; actual: 0.703 in. x 48 in. x 96 in.
  • Direction of the grain is the length of panel

Wanting to make a plywood floor in a bathroom I'm remodeling. Would this be a good product to use if i seal it with pol

Asked by: Wes
Gracious....I've used tile, carpet and vinyl but never poly coated plywood....I'm not sure on this one....I'm sure you could do it alright but not sure about the longevity of the finished product in a moist environment.

Is there veneer on both sides?

I need a stainable surface on both faces.
Asked by: Scotty
The sheet I bought was C grade on the second side. You could not stain it unless you are OK will lots of plugs..

can you use for outdoor use?

Asked by: marc
I bought some of this 5 years ago and left a 2 ft piece outside. It warped, darkened and "rotted" after 1 year, then it started to delaminate about a year later. Interestingly, I also left out a circular piece of baltic birch and though it's darkened and the top layer has cracked, the baltic birch is still pretty flat. If I had to use a "premium plywood" for outdoor use, I'd stick with baltic birch with regularly applied outdoor finish (w/ UV protection).

Does this wood need to be sealed?

Asked by: Eric
Likely, yes, all wood needs to be 'finished' or sealed with something before it is placed in use. Otherwise it'll eventually dry out and crack. IMO

3/4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. Maple Plywood is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 75.

Anybody who thinks that they're getting 9 or 13 ply stain grade cabinet quality plywood for this price is going to be sorely disappointed. I use this plywood for paint grade projects only and yes you do have to "feel" the sheets before loading up and heading to the register as some sheets do have laminating issues and also be aware that there will also be voids between the plies as others have mentioned. Still a decent alternative to using engineered sheet goods.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Delamination and voids The plywood appeared solid, consistent, and flat at purchase. With each cut, however, I found large voids and sizeable areas of core that had no glue whatsoever, which caused nearly every cut piece to delaminate.

This plywood is real bad. This stuff is not high quality. Once I got it home and started cutting it up and assembling the pieces I started to notice voids and bulges in the plys. The tearout is ridiculous. I've had to insert new wood into the edges in some areas just to fill voids. I am using this to make a workbench so it was not a total loss. For anything else, stay away.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for those with limited local resources Here in my part of California there are no hardwood dealers so limited to local big box home depot or liwes. Fortunately HD has purebond available in a few different species. No Walnut, grrrr cant fail them for that i suppise. The outer veneers are flawless and look amazing unlike other brands where only one side is usable. With Purebond you arent required to pull out the entire stack to find a goid sheet. All i ever do is make top sheet doesnt have edge damage from mishanlding in the store and you can rest assured your sheet will be perfect. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value, especially when purchased pre-finished I have been a custom woodworker for 26 years and the owner/proprietor of a fine woodworking school in downtown Snohomish, Washington for the last eight years. I use pre-finished PureBond Maple for most of my custom cabinet work and recommend the PureBond product line to all of my students. The combination of price competitiveness, quality, vastly decreased contact with wood finishes over a large surface area, absence of formaldehyde and option to request FSC-certified content make it the clear value leader in its category. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Plywood Made!!! We use the UV PUREBOND maple plywood on the interior of all our custom kitchen jobs. Its as slick as glass and very easily cleaned if you spill something on it. Much better than the old luan plywood we used years ago that you could never get slick. it was like rubbing up against 80 grit sandpaper. This UV PUREBOND has such a good finish that we sometimes get overspray on it finishing the exterior of the cabinet that we will take lacquer thinner to cut it off without any harm to the UV finish. Thanks PUREBOND!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent plywood I am a professional woodworker and have been a member of your pure bond fabricator network for years. I believe strongly in this product. Not only are the plywood panels the best to work with, the formaldehyde free purebond glue is great. I no longer get that formaldehyde choke in my throat when cutting the panel and the formaldehyde free panel is a great selling point to my customers. I have written into my client contracts that this is the product I will be using and the health of their home will benefit. I build all of my cabinet boxes with pre-finished maple plywood and use a lot of your other pure bond panels depending on the species called out for the job. Here is an example. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice plywood While I work with many materials, plywood is especially satisfying because it is both strong, easy to work with and takes on a good finish. Because it uses a soy based glue, I don't have to worry about formaldehyde out-gassing. This plywood has 5 plies, not counting the veneer on both sides. The surfaces were free of blemishes and the edges only showed a single small void. Some plywood sheets one quarter the size have several voids showing. Running a straight edge across the sheet showed it was very smooth and the only curvature I saw was due to flexing under its own weight- and for a 3/4 inch thick piece the flex is very small.
