Exquisite hardwood grains run along the length of this PureBond Maple Plywood Project Panel, featuring rotary-cut veneers from domestically grown, sustainably harvested trees that exhibit the warmth and timeless quality of natural timber. The 7-ply panel is comprised of 100% wood (no MDF or particleboard), boasting a yellow poplar core substrate layered in cross-band formation to fortify its flatness and strength. The soy-based PureBond technology is formaldehyde-free, producing a water-resistant, nontoxic decorative plywood panel that is not prone to warp like solid wood and will not emit harmful fumes like UF-constructed sheets. A cost-competitive alternative to composite panels that may degrade interior air quality over time, this hardwood plywood from Columbia Forest Products is a superb choice for DIYers and professional tradesmen looking for stellar results on their next woodworking project.
  • 7-Ply hardwood plywood panel is assembled with smooth, patch-free decorative maple veneers
  • PureBond hardwood plywood is an environmentally friendly, cost-competitive alternative to panels manufactured with urea formaldehyde (UF), which may degrade air quality over time
  • Contains 100% natural wood bonded with a food-grade soy-based adhesive that does not emit toxic air contaminants

  • For best cutting results, use an 80-tooth (or greater) table saw blade intended for sheet goods or a carbide-tipped circular saw plywood blade

Asked by: Wes
Gracious....I've used tile, carpet and vinyl but never poly coated plywood....I'm not sure on this one....I'm sure you could do it alright but not sure about the longevity of the finished product in a moist environment.

Is there veneer on both sides?

I need a stainable surface on both faces.
Asked by: Scotty
The sheet I bought was C grade on the second side. You could not stain it unless you are OK will lots of plugs..

can you use for outdoor use?

Asked by: marc
I bought some of this 5 years ago and left a 2 ft piece outside. It warped, darkened and "rotted" after 1 year, then it started to delaminate about a year later. Interestingly, I also left out a circular piece of baltic birch and though it's darkened and the top layer has cracked, the baltic birch is still pretty flat. If I had to use a "premium plywood" for outdoor use, I'd stick with baltic birch with regularly applied outdoor finish (w/ UV protection).

Does this wood need to be sealed?

Asked by: Eric
Likely, yes, all wood needs to be 'finished' or sealed with something before it is placed in use. Otherwise it'll eventually dry out and crack. IMO

I am a full time woodworker for 25 yrs. There's a continuing problem with the 1/2" and 3/4" plywood I've seen for the last year, Delamination in either face veneer or substrate, or both. See attached picture, this veneer peeled off at will, once again the glue isn't sticking as it should. Figured you guys would have picked up on this catastrophic issue by now, And I'm ready to give up on this product as I have a lot of woodwork out there that I am starting to worry could peel. My question to you is how long do you think it will take to you guys resolve this laminating problem? How can I trust this plywood for future projects? At any price, let alone $52 a sheet, there should never be an issue with laminating,it's the basic process for the product. It's not just a $52 sheet of plywood that peels, it's a 20k library that peels. Please fix this so I don't have to fix the library

All looked good on the face that showed. When I got it home I found that the back side was horrible. I didn't expect blemish free but this had many, many filled knot holes. Worse, the filling was not flush. And some of the "putty" was soft. I could rub it out of a hole with my finger. My other gripe is that the ends are not cut square. All three sheets were off worse than any plywood I've ever used. Makes it very hard to use when you don't have a square corner to reference from. I'll second other reviewers who commented on the poor cut quality on the edges. All and all very disappointing. I definitely won't buy again.

The knot holes were filled with wood putty. I paid quite a bit to get furniture grade plywood; so I was a bit disappointed by the way the holes were filled and looked. However, because I was not using the whole piece for the table, I was able to work around most of them.

Plywood quality has went way down from what it was 20 years ago. I can get better quality elsewhere for about $10 a sheet more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice plywood for home projects This is a very nice plywood for home cabinet and shelving projects. It is important for buyers to read the grading chart to make sure the appearance of the face veneers meets their needs. I have used this plywood in several projects that, when finished, were (a) sealed with a clear sealer, (b) were stained and then sealed, and (c) were painted. This plywood is affordable which makes it perfect for home type projects. It is good for projects where one or both sides of the plywood will show like in shelves, cabinet doors, etc. even though the face of the plywood has a nicer appearance than the back. A big advantage to this plywood is the fact that it will not out-gas harmful fumes because it is formaldehyde free. Do It Yourselfers using high grade plywood for the first time need to research the best way to cut plywood to achieve the smoothest chip free cuts. It's a simple process if a few simple rules are followed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Can Find Better My 4x8ft sheet of Maple "5" ply (with very thin .03" real wood veneers-not really another "Ply") arrived in overall okay condition. The wood veneers on both sides have nice Maple wood grains. For storage and eventual use, I had to rip into 2ft x 8ft sections. I didn't have any veneer tear outs and didn't run across any other laminate voids. The sheet did have about 1\2" of bowing, but for non-cabinet door projects, should work okay. I'd really would have preferred a full .750" overall thickness (not .705), which a veneer thickness of 1\16" could have accomplished, additionally creating "real world" wood finishing stability for carpentry cutting, handling and fitting. Due to the very thin surface veneers, I doubt I can get a quality project easily completed with out a great deal of TLC. Till these product quality standards improve, I'll pay much more from other manufactures to get a sheet finish that I can reliably work with and one that I know will last!
