Q:Can you join drywall and cement board with this?

Answer This Question

A:  I have and will do it again as long as the joint will be covered with tile. I usually do this on the last tile(s) of shower walls where tile meets drywall. I plan that joint to be just a few inches inside the tile area so it is hidden.

A:  I would use Thin Set, it is in the Ceramic Tile Department. Mix it up as per directions, then apply it with a 3-inch Putty Knife and Apply the web tape over the seams then apply a thin coat of Thin Set over the Web Tape

A:  Yes, it is best to put down a layer of mud that fills the seam and lightly coats the surrounding area before applying the tape into the wet mud.

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. Here are some key product usage points regarding the Dry Wall Joint tape product that may improve performance and satisfaction. Wipe the area where the tape will be applied, allow area to dry, ensure the tape is positioned over the well "butted" seams of the board, firmly apply the tape. Do not stretch the tape. Do not bridge the tape over excessive gapping between boards

        Job well done, every time
Great fit and use every time. My knees were aching after much work in the room, so I asked my youngest son to tape up the seams. He needed only a small amount of guidance, as this product "sticks" just the right about for the job. I set the thin set ontop and now my son and I can look at the job well done... until I install the tiles!

          Garbage
Most of the time I read the bad reviews before I purchase anything but I was in a bind and hurry and purchased this. It doesn't stick at all!!! And yes I did wipe everything down with a damp sponge and let dry.... to all you people that like to say you should have....... I shop vacuumed the whole area down and wiped it off with a damp sponge and let dry.... as I am sitting here writing this review, I'm watching it peel off and hit the floor. And this is on flat surfaces.... don't try corners.... this stuff is straight trash. It won't stick to paper. Barley sticks to itself... So do not buy.... you will be frustrated and will be taking it back for a refund.... spend the extra money and find another brand. Garbage Garbage Worse than garbage.

I wish the tape would have been stickier, but product worked well in patching areas that standard tape had ripped in corners and repairing drywall.

The tape was exactly what I needed for the tiled wall repair. I cut out a section of sheet rock and replaced it with wonder board, taped the seams, thin set the joints, and retiled the replacement section. It was all a bit of non-standard repair, but solid as a rock.

I cracked the corner of the cement board while cutting it ( see pic ) and this Tape is the Perfect Fix. Very Adhesive and Very Easy to cut with household shears. I've use Fiberglass Drywall Tape before and this Tape seems to be easier to use than others. Great Product.

I use this tape to make drywall repairs. It is an excellent way to make a screen mesh patch to Spackle over. You have to first Spackle the edges down and allow to dry. It will then be a firm surface to make a final repair over a large hole. See photos..

            Great Product
The 2 in. X 150 FT. Cement Drywall Joint Tape, worked very well. It has a very good self adhesive to the tape, that forms and stay in place to apply the joint compound. It works well in the corners too. The first coat of joint compound, applies nicely in to the mesh tape, that makes a strong joint (seam). I would recommend this joint tape to others.
