Thank you for your inquiry. "Rip" really just describes a straight, flat cut. So, the "rip size" of the tile cutter tells you how big a tile it can handle. The simple score and snap process is a quick way to rip and diagonally cut tiles. This tool Rip cuts porcelain and ceramic tile up to 35 in. and 24 in. diagonally.

Yes it can cut those tiles. Remember that cuts are not the same as factory edges. Cuts are made to be hidden either under baseboard or caulking around the perimeter of the floor. Or if used in a vertical installation like a shower stall cuts would be in the corners and the top and bottom.

can you use this to cut wood floor planks? The ones that click together?

No, this only cuts brittle material such as ceramic, porcelain and glass tile. It scores just the top surface. You then push down the lever on each side the score to send a fissure (crack) down from it to snap the tile in half. There is no blade or saw to this. Wood or plastic flooring cutters use a guillotine blade to shear through the material.

Looked everywhere for an affordable 36" tile cutter. Great news this unit will cut 36" tiles no problem. The box says 35" but don't let that throw you off. I've done about 100 hundred cuts and clean cuts every time. Just make sure don't apply too much pressure while cutting. One quick snap and breaks clean.

Professional grade, easy to use, and came already assembled. I wish I had purchased this earlier in my fireplace remodel. I was using a Dremel to saw through the tile. It left a whole lot of dust all over the place, the blade overheated, and I ended up chipping my tile. My cuts were not accurate. Once I purchased this QEP 35 in. Rip and 24 in. Diagonal, Porcelain and Ceramic Tile Cutter the going was accurate and smooth! This is highly recommended. In m opinion, the price was appropriate and the quality high-end.

(What's this)
I just remodeled my bathroom and I did the tiling myself. This tile cutter is so nice. I started with a different tile cutter before switching to this one. This tile cutter makes the edges cut so much cleaner plus this is 24 inches rather than just 14 inch. The score slide is smooth. I also did not have any problems with the tile not breaking along the score mark (unlike the other cutter I used which I often had that problem) I’m not sure what they’ve done different. Maybe they’ve just made the cutter more ridged or maybe it’s how the structure pushes on the tile to get it to break along the score line. Either way I love it. I have allowed my Brother-n-law to borrow it. He’s a contractor and does bathroom remodels often. He really likes it as well and says it is a professional quality product. I have included several pictures. I recommend this product.

(What's this)
This is a well-made professional tile cutter. It is convenient and much less expensive than a wet saw. It is a quality product that can be used for straight and angled cuts. A diagonal cutting guide is included and can be attached to the tile cutter. The glide moves easily and the wheel scores and snips the tile very cleanly. My husband was able to cut all the tile needed for his project without issue. He said that this machine is not designed for tiny cuts or for combination cuts. Otherwise, this is a perfect tool for most any tile job. He also has a tile rubbing stone. This is used if there should be a small fragment left on the scored and cut tile. He never had to use it during his project with this tool. Very nice product.

I needed something to cut 24" tiles. Local rental place only had 18" cutters which was expensive to rent and wet saws (too messy). For less then $100 I figured it was worth a chance since the rental for the 18" was $24 a day. I was very surprised about how well the cutter was built and sturdy. It cut tiles perfectly. Sure I broke some, but that was my fault and not the cutters. Over all I think this will last me for a long time. As you can see in the picture, a perfect cut on a 24" tile with one pass. I have cut maybe 40 tiles in my life and this is very easy to use.

This worked pretty well, but can't cut long strips under around 2" - 1.5" in width. The gap between the wall and the last tile row was 1" for me, so I ended up using partial lengths so it technically doesn't match the pattern of the rest of the floor. Most of it is under the baseboard and corner round, though.
