Parts?

Answer

Tools in this price range do not often come with replaceable parts lists. In effect, they are disposable tools. In this case, you could buy another one and the old one become a source for parts in the future. Also, the scoring wheel is a replaceable part for this.

You will need tools to hold the tile and snap them once this tool scores them. This machine is NOT a shear or a saw.

Can this cut mosaic glass back splash?

Answers

Thank you for your inquiry. The QEP Xtreme Series SLIMLINE Tile Cutter scores most ceramic and porcelain tile up to 24 in. long. Depending on the size/configuration of your back splash mosaic tile this tool is most likely the tool for the job. You may want to consider tile snippers for you project. Always follow the Glass Mosaic tile manufacturer installation/cutting recommendation for best results. General Info: If you need to cut a mosaic sheet, cut from the back using a utility knife between tiles along the grout joints. Should you need to cut across tiles in a fashion that is not possible with a utility knife, use a wet saw with a diamond blade to cut through the tiles. Thank you fr considering Roberts for your project needs.Suggestion: The QEP 650XT 3/4 HP 120-Volt Wet Tile Saw

Will this cut porcelain tile

Asked by Tom May 14, 2019

Yes, nicely forshort tiles. I tried 24" planks and it couldn't handle it. The handle couldn't punch it, it would bounce and not cut.

How long does the carbide wheel last/ how many cuts? I am using porcelain tile.

Asked by Necko May 1, 2019

This tool does not actually cut the tile. Rather, it scores a fine line that you use to snap the tile in two pieces. Obviously, the harder the tile and the harder you press, the shorter the life of the wheel ... but the wheel is a replaceable part. Figure 500 scores before thinking about a new wheel and you should be just about right.

Dont Understand The Hate ?
Ok seriously all recent bad reviews are clearly from people who never really tiled before or never used a manual tile cutter. So far hasnt let me down, it scores, it snaps hard porcelain tiles which id typically wet saw. Its not perfect, the guide you attach is flimsy really useless but it does exactly what its meant to do, aside from that its worth its money

Hey guys I am a floor installer, and I do a LOT  of tile installations every day all day. I both this cute because of the band name " QEP" , but in that model X-Treme line they lost they dignite. This is NOT a  multi-purpose cutter for ceramic and porcelain. Only some time works w/ porcelain tile. This unit has heavy rubber pads for cutting  But it is more high than the metal rip guide. So, the tile need the in touch which to broke properly *.Metal rip guide need to be high the rubber pads but don't. *score weel lose action doesn't cut. If if you try press more heavy when cutting ceramic tile it broke in horizontal. Holy crap. I recomendo a recall for that model. So can you  get my one e give my money back? I will recomend the QEP 10600BR this is the one.

This review is for the "24 in. Professional Slimline Tile Cutter" since that's what I purchased and was looking at when I clicked write review. I purchased it maybe a week ago and have already used it cutting and shaping tile for a 600+ sq ft project. This has got to be the best manual, dry tile cutter just about ever. All the 4 star and below reviews seem to be from people that a) have never cut (scored) dry tile before, b) have never used one of the shorter cutters before, or c) they must think it should cut through the tile on the first slide, like a saw. Not happening! If I had known my local HD had this piece of equipment last project I did, I would have bought it then. This has saved me at least an hour, maybe more, cutting tile since I was using a smaller slide of a lesser quality.

cracked tile at edge
I bought the slimline 24 to cut 24” porcelain tiles and it as soon as the tile is snapped, a piece always break off the pressure point corner. I tried everything hoping to get it from chipping the edge but no luck. Returning this to the store.

Response from The ManufacturerNovember 4, 2019
Thank you for your valuable feedback. Sometimes, inconsistent scoring pressure can cause a curved cut or the tile to shatter. It is important to have steady, unchanging pressure when scoring so that the tile will snap along the scoreline. It may help to hold the end of the tile with one hand while snapping the tile with the other. (What's this)
This is the first time I have ever used a tile cutter, so I was more than just a little intimidated by its size and weight. I purposely acquired the larger 36-inch model because I knew I would be cutting larger tiles to finish my kitchen floor. The QEP Xtreme Series Slimline Tile Cutter may have been engineered by the Pros and made for the Pros, but it was easy to setup and use by this novice. The instructions were relatively clear, and the illustrations helped. It took me a few trial cuts before I felt comfortable, but it’s use was easily mastered satisfactory cuts were made quickly and easily. I admit that I did break a few pieces in the trial process, but overall, this device did a good job of even smaller cuts. It’s heavy, but easy to store because the legs fold up to a small footprint. I am satisfied and I highly recommend it for anyone.

Went back to home Depot twice because item was used and missing parts. The first time I went item showed signs of use and was missing 45 deg guide. The second time I went back with a different cutter same model item was missing cutter wheel. So I simply spent a few more dollars and got a different company's cutter

HIGHLY recommend this product. I bought a QEP small wet tile saw for my last project, which was only like 20sq feet, and that thing was slow going, but got the job done. This however, I used on a much larger project, and WOW! Paid for itself completely. I used it over the course of 3 days, and this saved me at least 100 trips going up and down stairs to get to the noisy wet tile saw outside! You score and snap, it couldn't be easier. Use light pressure, it doesn't take much. My baby even napped on the other side of the wall throughout the project. No crazy noise, just simple score and pop! I would recommend this to ANYONE doing tile. I've only done two tile projects in my entire DIY life, but I wouldn't be afraid to tackle another with this in my tool kit. I had to rip a couple lengths of 1" or less, and this was a bit tricky, and I did break a couple tiles in this process, which is frusterating, but... Its a cut of 0.75" on a 24" long tile. I probably should have used the tile saw for those anyway. But all my other cuts were cake! Also, I still had to use the tile saw to cut a round hole for a toilet, as this couldn't do that.

Works okay once you get the hang of it, since it's designed for up 24" tiles there's some flex in the mechanism making the scoring of 12" tile in the middle of the guide tricky. Trimming edges with < 1-1/2" is a bear and after being successful only once in 5 tries I've stopped trying. This will cost me in extra tiles but still I'm satisfied with the cutter, it allows me to work at my own pace, ( rental 24" wet saw was $90/day). The 12"x 24" ceramic tile I'm using is textured so several cutting passes are necessary. It's been a learning experience but I'm happy with the progress I'm making.

(What's this)
This, QEP 30 IN. SLIMLINE PROFESSIONAL TILE CUTTER works as described! The box arrived undamaged and assembly is very minimal. Once we un-crated the cutter, we could see the quality will enhance the durability. Why this 30 IN. SLIMLINE PROFESSIONAL TILE CUTTER, because all tile jobs aren't the same. You may need a smaller size cutter for small size tile or a larger for bigger cuts. This is the reason we purchased this QEP 30in model. It will get the job done, big or small! Take a couple of pieces of damaged tile and start to make some cuts before you use on a new, permanent tile. You will see yourself wanting to install tile, everywhere!
