Hello, while this tool will allow for the easy removal of carpet adhesive residue, vinyl, carpet, tile and other floor covering materials, surfaces that come in contact with this tool's metal blade will inevitably be scratched and/or chipped. This tool was designed for the aggressive removal of unwanted flooring and other materials, after which the preparation for a subsequent finished flooring will take place. If you are attempting to protect any pre-existing surface/flooring underneath the carpet adhesive, you may want to research alternative solutions.
