I VERY SELDOM throw something away without returning it or trying to reuse if possible. However, I will NOT resort to chemical product to clear drains as they are bad for everything - the pipes, the water system and the environment. So I prefer simple mechanical fixes when available. This plunger is in our trash bin. It looks perfect and the handle is comfortable, but does not work. Maybe it is the collapsible flange, but this thing does NOT work. The only suction that does work in this product is the part that keeps the flange collapsed inside itself. In order to try to make it work, you have to reach in and PULL out the flange - all around (pulling from one side is not enough), which of course, with a plunger, is unpleasant and messy (water dribbles out). Prying it open from the inside is hard b/c it keeps flattening in again. Truly one of the worst plungers ever. After numerous attempts to clear the clog, I went to HD, bought the Korky Beehive, and the toilet cleared in one attempt. Two pushes, boom, it's clear. The Quickie was a small waste of money, a HUGE waste of time and effort! I hope the time spent here will save you from the same waste of time.

Not as ugly as a traditional plunger and the stand gets it up off the ground which is definitely much less gross.

great item - harsh reviews
the fact that this plunger has microban is good enough reason to buy it [& eww to the other brands that don't]. the fact that it isn't black so you can see the 'you-know-what' to clean it is good enough reason to buy it [again eww to the other plungers] the fact that the first review I've written out of countless items I purchased from homedepotdotcom is for a PLUNGER means I recommend!

Microban Plunger
This plunger is coated with microban to help prevent bacteria or mold from growing. Sold me! Plungers are not thing of beauty as it is, but a necessity. So anything that will help in the cleaning process has got my attention!

It just doesn't work, doesn't have any pressure to push any water through the toilet. It collects a ton of "you know what." Complete waste of money, can't believe I'm writing a review for a plunger.

I have several, getting a few more.
Judging by the reviews there must be some user issues. I have two at home and four in my business. The business ones get a lot of use and have never been a problem nor has anyone every come to me with issues using them. They only collect water if you don't flip out (and leave out) the extension flange, just like on 90% of the plungers made in the last half century.

Compared to any others I have had, I love this.
I agree with any review that says that the base doesn't HOLD the plunger; it sits on top of it. But considering the alternative, I, personally, have found this a great improvement over the average plunger. This plunger won't hold water if you shake it out; I also recommend waiting till the toilet fills and rinsing it with the fresh toilet water. Compared to many plungers with a narrow center section, this plunger holds a miniscule amount of water. Ask yourself this: on what do you place a standard plunger? Also, have you had one with the narrow center and the water-holding pockets on the side? I find those almost impossible to empty. So all in all I choose this plunger over any other I have ever had. Actually, I am throwing away my 2 old plungers and ordering 2 more of these (or the Quickie Lysol Plunger & Caddy) today.

Impressively Awful
I didn't think I'd need to compare product reviews on PLUNGERS but I guess I am out ten dollars now. This plunger is useless.
