Product Overview

QuietCool Solar Attic Fans are the best in the industry offering the largest panels at an affordable price. This fan features a 30-Watt solar panel, a preset thermostat, an ultra-energy efficient DC motor, a heavy-duty steel housing, and an included AC/DC inverter. Solar attic fans work by using sunlight to power the fans motor to help prevent any heat or moisture build up in your attic. Your attic can reach temperatures of up to 150°F which can destroy the integrity of your home as well as completely destroy your roof because of the humidity and moisture build up. Because of this, solar attic fans can prolong the life of your roof structure and air conditioning while helping you save up to 30% on A/C costs. With a QuietCool Solar Attic Fan, you also get the benefit of an included AC/DC inverter. This allows the fan to run 24/7. When there is sunlight outside, the fan will run only on solar power being powered by the large solar panel on the fan. When there is no sunlight, such as at night, the fan will switch to AC power and continue to run throughout the night. This allows you to take advantage of cooling your attic during the coolest part of the day. Simply mount the fan to your roof and plug in the inverter to enjoy 24/7 cooling and ventilation in your attic.

Yes. It is powered by the solar panel if the power inverter is not used.

We do not recommend using the 12" diameter cut out as this would cause back pressure and cause issues with the motor.

The quiet Cool 1092 CFM attic fan works well for my home that has 2500 S.F. attic space.. My AC long longer runs most of night to maintain home temps like it used to The fan is rated for up to 2400 S.F of open attic space. If properly installed and located, the Quiet cool 1092 should do a great job on 1500 S.F. home with a standard gable attic.

Our single story house’s living space is 1500 sq ft. Would this attic fan move sufficient air? Thank you.

Asked by David August 15, 2020

Answer

The AFR SLR-30 spec says it will do a 2000 SF attic. To me, it would depend on the roof pitch, which will determine total sun exposure. As long as you are getting a good blast of direct sunlight, this fan will move a lot of air. But without AC power, it's not running after sunset when attics can remain hot for hours.

I purposely didn’t buy a Remington Solar roof exhaust fan because it was made China

Asked by Pete August 11, 2020

Answer

it's highly possible some of the components are made in the USA and others made in China. Even if all the components were made in the USA and then shipped to China for final assembly, it would be labeled made in China. It's virtually impossible to find almost anything that is 100% US made in todays global supply chains. At least some of the components on this fan do appear to be made in the US.

You will still need attic venting for the fan to pull air from.

Due to the current COVID situation, this can't be installed at this time. However, I was able to un-package it and test the fan both on AC adapter power and with the solar panel and it moves lots of air. The unit is well built and well packaged (don't try to move it to the roof without help! It isn't light.) . The solar panel is adjustable both in tilt and which direction it faces. The included AC adapter (to run the fan when solar is lacking) has a nice long cord. With the summer temperatures here in the desert reaching around 110 right now I'm sure this would have made a huge difference in our attic temperatures. I'm anxiously awaiting the opportunity to install it and we'll see next summer how much it helps.

Good fan, easy enought to install and quiet opperation. Everythying is built in, just need to install the fan and your set. Replaced an existing squeeky roof vent and this is a much much better solution. Try to install where no trees will shade the panel at any time of the day. The smallest shadow will have a large effect on the functionality of this unit.

Amazing solar roof attic fan. Tried it out of the box on a sunny day here in Colorado and the fan worked immediately once the sun had a couple minutes to ramp up the motor. I will try and add a short video to hear how quiet the fan is along with a couple photos of the system. I still have shake roof so awaiting my new roof to install the fan once the shake is removed. I believe this fan will be very helpful to reduce the attic heat in the summer. Very impressed.

(What's this)
This attic fan is a great option for cooling your attic space. Because my house is small with a low roof line, I was concerned that this fan might look bulky and be too noticeable. But it actually blends nicely into the roof and doesn't look too big on my roof. The fan comes with a cutting template and it easy to install on your own or you can hire some one. Because it's solar, it uses minimal power to operate. I believe it only uses the alternate power supply if it's cloudy. I'm also considering getting out for an outbuilding that does not have power. I think the fan can run on its own without being plugged in. It will just stop when the power runs out, like when it's cloudy or rainy.

I've been in my current home of a little under 2300 square feet for four years. There has always been an issue with the top floor of the home being hottest during summer months. Other than an attic fan's general purpose, I don't really know much about them, so I decided to take a chance on selecting this particular model... I'm glad I did! I had the fan installed by a roofing contractor, so unfortunately I cannot personally speak on the ease or difficulty of installation; however I can say it didn't take long for the contractor to install the unit. I've now had the unit installed for about 45 days, and it's only been consistently warm within the last week or so, so i'm just now able to write a review as it's certainly noticeable how comfortable the bedroom-level of my home is now during 80+ degree weather, compared to last year.

Easy to install. Very quiet almost to the point you do not think it's on. Immediately after installing the solar roof fan it started pulling the heat out of the attic before finishing the install. Had to contact the manufacturer in California for extension rods that it was missing that allows for positioning the solar panel for better sun exposure. Received those with in 4 days but really not needed due to the pitch and sun exposure it has with out them. Great product, cooler house, happy family.

Seems well made and operates as advertised. The 12 volt post-sun operation is an added bonus for cooling the attic at night with minimal power consumption. I installed the 30-watt on the garage and the 40-watt on the house. The garage is noticeably cooler during the day ( no AC ) but it hasn’t really been hot enough to determine how it affects the house

(What's this)
I'm very impressed with this roof mount attic fan. It's a high-quality product, not skimpy in any way. The unit itself weighs in at 33 pounds so there is decent heft to it in terms of getting it on to the roof. It's a bit tricky to carry too because of its construction and weight. I decided to hire my favorite carpenter for this installation because of an ankle injury I suffered that prevents me from safely climbing to my roof. The carpenter decided it was best to install a plank with roof jacks as a support for his work area and to be certain the unit was safely by his side while cutting the 14" hole through the shingles and plywood as necessary for the installation. The main house has a 12-pitch roof and this shed dormer is thankfully less but still not all that comfortably safe to work on without the plank in place. As long as you feel comfortable working on a roof and understand how shingles and flashing are to be installed on a vent after cutting into an existing roof, you can do the installation yourself. This fan comes with a built-in inverter so you can plug the fan motor into an outlet in your attic if you want to take full advantage of cooler outside air temperatures once the sun goes down. The unit runs on 120 volts and consumes 30 watts. I also decided to run a circuit from an existing inside receptacle on our second floor. I had access from a storage area on a short wall to run another line off the 120 volt feed to another receptacle box I cut into the wall next to the outlet. I installed a simple on/off switch to power the attic receptacle or cut power to that receptacle. That wire then fed into the new attic receptacle into which I plugged in the fan power plug to allow for operation when the sun is not shining. The fan unit will turn on automatically when the sun is shining or 120 volt power is supplied and the air temperature in the attic hits 75 degrees. On the day this fan was installed, it was in the 60's outside and sunny. The temperature in the attic was already above 75 because as soon as the paper covering was removed from the solar panel, the fan started right up. When this unit is installed, there's a wire hanging from the underside that drops down into the attic. This plugs into the accessory cord and that plugs into the attic outlet. The fan is extremely quiet. You will not hear it running from inside the house even if it's installed over your bedroom ceiling on the roof. Outside, I had to listen very carefully to hear the whisper-quiet sound of it running. You won't notice it running unless you get close enough to it or can focus on the low level of sound it makes. I'm looking forward to both saving on my AC costs and keeping the attic temperatures lower than one would normally see. There is adequate venting with ridge vents and gable end vents. But without an exhaust fan still gets oppressively hot up there. This fan moves a good deal of air and will constantly draw cooler air into the attic while exhausting the hot air. An additional benefit or feature of this fan design is that the solar panel can be both swiveled and tilted to best capture the sunlight exposure. My siting gave excellent results with the solar panel left in the standard position. The angle of the solar panel was perfect for the summer sun and there was no need to swivel the panel as the unit was on a south-facing roof.

This unit is very solidly built. With the pandemic, it took me a while to get someone to install it, but once he started, it went in very easily. I love the solar feature, as it doesn't require me to have it connected to AC power. It has a wall-plug if I decide I need evening cooling, but my guess is that the daytime cooling I will get just from the solar is going to work just fine. The solar panel is adjustable so it can be tilted to optimize for the best solar exposure, and then it locks down to prevent damage. The base is large enough that it fit in the space where my old swamp cooler was, so installation was really straightforward.
