Product Overview

  • Provides instant ventilation for your whole house
  • Brings cool outdoor air through windows to cool home and attic
  • Features zero noise vibration and whisper quiet operation
The QuietCool brand of whole house fans has taken America by storm. The QC CL-3100 advanced whole house fan is a new take on the idea of whole house ventilation. Whole house ventilation allows you to bring the cooler outdoor air through your windows, home and attic space to thoroughly cool and ventilate both the home and attic. The process of thoroughly cooling the home and attic is called thermal mass cooling. This is what allows your home to stay cooler the next day and resist heating up as much as it would if you only ran the AC to cool the home. QuietCool uses a unique, patented design that uses an acoustical duct attached to an R5 damper box. The result is almost zero noise vibration and whisper quiet operation. The QuietCool QC CL-3100 is designed to be installed centrally in small-to-midsize homes. Simply open a window when you get home from work, flip on the QuietCool and enjoy a peaceful and cool evening relaxing. And for an even better system, purchase another smaller QuietCool unit for your master bedroom to enjoy a full range of cooling and ventilation. Better yet, QuietCool is proudly designed with a 98% customer satisfaction.
  • QuietCool advanced whole house fans use and improve upon the principle of ventilation cooling with savings of up to 50-90% off traditional cooling methods such as A/C
  • 4.17 sq. ft. of net free attic venting required for proper ventilation
  • Cools and ventilates homes up to 1570 sq. ft. for optimum performance
  • Fan motor head hangs from the rafters in the attic with a small ceiling cut-out for the air intake grille (14 in. x 22 in. ceiling cut-out)
  • Moves air at a rate of 3126 CFM on high and 2847 CFM on low
  • 299-Watt PSC motor on high and 256-Watts on low ensures efficient operation and airflow
  • QuietCool 8-hour countdown timer and 2-speed control switch sold separately
  • Installation is simple with a typical 1 to 2-hour install time with no framing or joist-cutting required (fits 16 or 24 on-center)
  • R5 damper box at the ceiling level helps insulate the home from the attic during the cold times of the year when the fan is off
  • HVI-916 airflow rate for California: 2380 CFM

Questions & Answers

I live in California will this fan help cool house down we have no a/c home built in 1904

Asked by: Robert
It will quickly suck in outside air into your house. Whatever temperature it is outside, that it the temperature it will make your house. So if it cools down at night where you live, then yes.

I’m in Arizona for the first time. I see no fans installed in these houses why?

Maybe there’s something I’m missing because it gets so hot out here I’m from Illinois and could not live without one. I mentioned them and I got 3 people that want them installed
Asked by: Vegas
These fans will work great in AZ as well. Especially in FALL, WINTER and SPRING or in the evenings when the desert cools. If the temp outside is over 95 deg. you'll want to run the fan for about 20 min. to evacuate the hot air in attic first. Then run your A/C. Attics average 130 degrees, when you turn on A/C it has to fight that temp. because ducting is running throughout that environment. How is it that the Classic CL-3100 says it uses 2.8Amps and the more Energy Efficient CL-3100(Green) says it uses 3.9Amps?
Asked by: Fern
I bought the CL-3100. The CL-3100 shows that it uses 299 Watts with an airflow of 3126 CFM on high and 256 Watts with and airflow of 2847 CFM on low speed where as the ES-3100 uses more energy on high at 285 Watts with an airflow of 3081 CFM but a mere 80.8 Watts with an airflow of Low: 2020 CFM. So I would say that the green one only saves energy if you use the low speed, but even then you are getting a reduced airflow. So it is mostly a marketing ploy, but perhaps if you use the timer (which only goes 1,2,4,8 hours and you only run on low speed, you might save something depending upon when your house gets cleared. If you only run on high, you will actually use more energy running the green one.

It really does a good job drawing in the cool outdoor air while cooling the attic. It's much quieter then I expected. Easy to install it yourself if you know how to do some electrical wiring.

Amazing, completely improves the indoor environment, barely use the AC anymore, AND my power company cut a check for $400. A complete no brainer! It did however take me 8 hours to install, cutting hole, hanging fan, running Romex, wiring timer and switch, etc etc.

The installation is simple (as simple as things can be in a hot attic) and is just possible for one person by themselves but a helper would be a good thing to plan for when hanging the fan from the rafters. Another reviewer gave me the idea for installation that, while it is extra steps, is very worth doing. That is, rather than put the housing down between joists I built wooden box by adding 14.5 inch long 2X6s between the 2X6 attic floor joists at 22.25inch spacing (the same size as the housing). This made the installation of the housing very easy as I could just screw the outer lip of the housing down to the top edge of the 2X6s all around. Additionally, the grill on the ceiling below can screw up into the bottom edge of the 2X6s instead of trying to hit the metal underside of the housing or relying on the sheetrock to secure the grill. The added benefit of this method is that in the winter I can now easily remove the grill and add a cut batt of insulation to the void created by the 2X6s beneath the housing (the louvers have insulation but only R5 and when the attic should have more like R38 that isn't much). Also, I was able to add a layer or two of that pink foamy insulation stuff (typically used around window frames) directly beneath the housing mount locations, I think that will help cut down on any vibration from the housing to the attic joists. All in all this was not expensive, fairly easy to install, and works very well.
