This is a great product ,,, Easy To Install for any DIYer or seasoned pro,,, This Under Floor Warming Mat System installs between existing floor joists; from available crawl space or basement beneath..It also works under any type of flooring, including tile hardwood, carpets linoleum, etc.... All you do is unroll the heat mat, I found it easier if I folded the edges before putting it between the joists, MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO NAILS poking thru the floor, they can scratch the film and break a connection causing it not to work.. I just tapped over a few nails with a hammer then staple the film as close to the sub floor (touching) as you can. You can then install or re-install your insulation.. wiring it up was fairly easy as it comes with very long leads and the instructions are well written you will have to pick up a thermostat as one is not included. The whole installation takes about 2-3 hours if everything goes in your favor Now I can walk into the bathroom a 2 A.M. and the floor is cozy warm... Before it was like walking on an ice pack, Also nice after you get out of the shower..The total cost is well worth the warmth and comfort as if your feet are warm your whole body stays warm.... I would recommend this to anyone who hates cold feet....

This type of Quietwarmth radiant floor heating film is really convenient for existing floors, but it may be more effective on some flooring materials than others. We installed this in a bathroom with a heavy ceramic tile and it takes a considerable amount of time to get the surface to even approach the temperature of the subfloor. The temp sensor in the subfloor will get to the desired temp far faster than the floor surface of our tiles. For floors with linoleum, laminate or wood surfaces, I'm sure this would work far faster, but the amount of mass that needed to be heated in our bathroom definitely challenged the heater. The install is very simple and the directions were truly excellent, including great tables, planning sheets and tips. This unit installs best with classic dimensional joists. We have wood I-beam type joists which have a slightly greater distance between then them than the thicker dimensional lumber. The panels did reach the adjacent beams, however and could still be safely stapled in. Be careful positioning these above plumbing lines or other obstacles. Kinking the film has to be avoided so that the electrical paths are not broken. The wires that come with these rolls are 12AWG. Each panel draws less than 1 amp, so this wire is far heavier than needed for a single panel. The heavy wire connects to the film with a crimped on connector that is covered in plastic. Great care is needed here too, to make sure that positioning the wire does not kink and break the copper bus strip. Tying a number of these 12AWG wires together is a non-trivial connection. You can gang many of these together in parallel on a single thermostat, but due to the use of 12AWG wire, connecting them will be require more than a couple wire nuts. We really like the convenience and ease of installation, but with our heavy tiles, we would recommend this for floors consisting of material with less mass.

I installed this under my chicken coupe to keep the little guys warm in the winter months. It easily attached under the floor between the "joist's" and wired up to a thermostat I set up inside the coupe. The film is very thin and has edging that folds and staples to the joist for installation. The attached wiring is long and allows for connection to a junction box. The best part (to me) is that the film can be cut and taped off if you need to shorten the total length of a section. I recommend this product, especially if you're adding heat to an existing floor that you don't want to rip up for under floor heating (or creating a 21st century chicken coupe :)

I received the 10 FT. X 16 IN. 120 Volt Retrofit Radiant Heat Film For Under Existing Floors and Subfloors for review. This product arrived to my home in a well packaged box in undamaged condition. This product fit the bill for a guest powder room that was always chilly. Directions were easy to follow and installation was a breeze. UL Listed thermostat with floor sensor is recommended but not included with this product.

These work well under the subfloor if you have access to that space. They could use a little extra on the sides to accommodate slightly wide joist bays. And as others noted the cables are very thick and stiff so a bit of a wrestle to get them wired together with power. I think the slide-in connectors would work better than wire nuts. Heat up the floor nicely but not enough to heat the room, even a tiny bathroom. I’d supplement with HVAC heat in cold environments like the PNW.

Heating element was fairly easy to install and wiring it in was a snap. The floor took a little while to heat up due to heating from beneath the subfloor, but the floor kept its heat well.

Overall I really love these heaters, heated floors are a great idea. My bathroom floor and the bathroom is much warmer now than it was before I installed the QuiteWarmth subfloor heaters. I had tried space heaters that had 1500W but they were noisy and not as effective. These heaters are fairly easy to install as long as you have access to the subfloor. With these subfloor heaters and a layer of insulation at the bottom of the joists I was able to raise the temperature of my big bathroom floor from 59 degrees to 74.... and this is only with 220W of electric power! Yes the insulation is doing part of the job but these heaters do the rest! The results were excellent.... the reason I rate these good instead of excellent is because I had one of them break during installation and in general I don't think they are as sturdy as they should be. You need to be very careful not to break them during installation. The electric cables are very sturdy but the elements are plastic and one must be very careful not to let the cable break where it meets the plastic ... or the plastic to break during installation. Once installed nothing moves and I do not anticipate any problems.
