Asked by: AJ
Yes you can, and we actually did paint over our sealer. We used the sealer to grout white brick veneer on our outdoor kitchen. The dark gray was too much of a contrast so we lightened it up.

Can this be used for a fireplace? I am trying to seal a hole that the ashes keep falling through in the fireplace.

Asked by: notavailable
I wouldn't try it, this is a latex/epoxy-based material.

Wondering what the best product is to repair cracks on a block wall detached garage. The cracks are in the mortar. I see Concrete repair sealer, mortar repair, epoxy concrete repair, concrete crack sealant, polyurethane mortar joint sealer, and more. Please advise. Thanks.
Asked by: Chase
I was not impressed with this product. Water separated from latex base made for runny caulk initially then dried as you extrude from cartridge. Sounds like a caulk meant specifically for mortar repair would be your best bet.

10.1 oz. Concrete Repair Sealant is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product 1st thing was when I opened it, a watery concrete mix gushed out & got in my eye. When I finally got the watery crap out of it and got down to usable product, I found it to be way too coarse, with small rocks in it that made it very hard to use on vertical surfaces, as it wanted to fall out. If you need a smooth surface, you can't get one. When I got towards the bottom of the tube, there were chunks the consistency of rubber. Dissatisfied all the way around...I bought 3 tubes and took 2 back after the poor performance of the 1st tube.

Have been trying different crack fillers and this one is definitely the worst one I have tried so far. First after puncturing the seal inside the tube I had a chalky colored fluid run out. Then even with a 12:1 caulk gun the filler did not want to come out. After really bearing down on the handle a hard chunk shot out and it started to come out like it should. Decided to go ahead and try to use it. Found was setting up before I could get back and smooth it out making the job even harder to work. Figured had gotten a bad tube so tied 2nd tube same thing!! retuned rest to Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is great for the right application I love this stuff for filling larger cracks. It is not really suitable for small cracks because it has small aggregate in the mix. This is also why the spout gets clogged at times. You can avoid the clogging by cutting the nozzle hole down far enough to create a large opening. This is not a problem if you are shooting it into larger cracks. I used it for fairly large expansion joint cracks in my driveway. As far as it being watery, it does start out that way at times, but it is only lasts for a moment. This stuff dries pretty hard (like concrete) but is supposed to be flexible so it won't crack. The people that don't like this are simply not using it correctly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well for me I wouldn't let the low rating scare you. Quikrete has either changed the formula or the people giving low stars really didn't know what they were doing. I used this to repair some surface cracks on my front concrete stoop. As the directions recommend i first applied their bonding adhesive to help the new concrete bond to the old. People say its hard to work with but if you puncture a large enough hole in the tube it came out just fine. For the smaller fine cracks i used a putty knife to help spread the product evenly over the cracks. After the product was dried i used Quikrete FastSet Repair Mortar to give a nice even fresh coat. As with any job the prep work is very important. Clean the surface, remove loose concrete etc etc.. all in all for $3 a tube i was very happy with this product and would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quikrete 10 oz. Concrete Repair By far, one of the greatest products I've used from HD. This stuff may be difficult to work with, and it did have a watery white discharge initially, but upon drying it stopped water and hardened beyond my expectation!!
