how much quikrete do i need to fill a tube 18 inches round and 36 inches high

Asked by handy September 9, 2020

Answer

Each 80-pound bag of QUIKRETE® Concrete Mix yields approximately 0.6 cubic feet of concrete when mixed. An 18” diameter tube, filled to 36” in height requires a volume of 5.3 cubic feet, so you will need 9 80-pound bags of Concrete Mix. Yields are approximate and will vary with waste, uneven subgrade, etc.

How many bags 60 or 80 lb needed to fill your 16" form 3' tall?

Answers

A cylinder of that size holds 4.2 cubic feet. A 60 pound bag of concrete mix makes 0.45 cubic feet, so you need 9.3 bags (so buy 10). If you use 80 pound bags, you need just shy of 7 bags.

Can I order this and pick it up at the store?

What can I say? It is a 16x48 cardboard cylinder with a water-resistant lining. It works as designed. Of course, it shouldn't cost anywhere near the $14.30 I paid for it, but that's a different issue.
