it states that you don't have to mix this before hand...…..but can I do it anyways or would it screw up the texture or whatnot
Asked by: chaplin
You can mix this before hand like my neighbor does and he is happy with the outcome/set. I don't like a lot of extra mess so mix it in the ground (actually just add water to the dry mix that I poured into the application) and have had great results as well. Try it both ways and leave a review.

when using several bags, do I add bag then water until it’s mixed and then add the next bag then water and so forth?

Asked by: Marie
It depends on what type of project you're working on. For example, if you're digging post holes, you can pour the dry concrete around the post, then add water, or you can mix the concrete yourself and add it around the post. Your best bet would be to visit the Quikrete website for the best answer. www.quikrete.com

I have a project where I actually want water to slowly seep through. Is this product water permeable after it sets? If not, is there a way to make behave this way?
Asked by: Nathan
After this Quikrete sets, it is just like concrete. It will absorb moisture but would not permeate water in a seeping fashion. I would guess you would need a compacted sand mixture to create a seeping effect.

Asked by: tn2
That's exactly what we did. We built a patio slab and it looks great. It's been in place for 2 years now and no cracks or any other problems at all.

50 lb. Fast-Setting Concrete Mix is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 586.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick and easy I purchased a few bags of Quikcrete fast settling concrete from Home Depot, to install a couple 4x4 posts in my yard over the weekend. I had never used this product before so when I saw it in the store, I jumped at the chance to avoid mixing cement in a wheelbarrow with a shovel. The product worked exactly as described. After putting gravel in the hole and leveling the post, I dumped 3 bags in per hole, as the guide on the package recommended. I added roughly 3 gallons of water (1 gallon per bag) and walked away. After a couple hours the top of the cement had hardened. After 4 hours, the post was solid and I finished my project the same day. This project was supposed to take a couple weekends to complete but thanks to Quikrete, I finished in a day.

I bought 68 bags to use as a flag pole base. i did not fully trust the claims of " Just pour water on top and let it sink in" so i tested it. I cut the top off a clear 5 gallon water bottle and poured a half a bag in, poured the required water on top and let it alone. the water could be seen creeping down and through the concrete mix. In about 15 minutes it was mostly saturated. I added the second half of the bag on top and poured the required water on top to test the joint between the two. Same result, full saturation in about 15 minutes. After a few days of sitting i unwrapped the plastic bottle from around the concrete, picked up the block and dropped it, hit it with a hammer, could not break the block at the joint. Very impressive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked as indicated on bag I purchased this product after my stockade fence fell during a storm. The previous owner of my property set the poles in sand so of course that didn't withstand much wind. I didn't want this to be a major project spanning multiple days so I jumped at the possibility of quick set no mix concrete. The day I used this product it was 34 degrees outside so I did as directed and added hot water in the quantity indicated. After putting tools away ,I took a shower and changed clothes. In that amount of time (approx 45 mins) it had set solid .. I'm very happy with this product for the use described, note however that the finish was rocky since there was no need to smooth it for a finished look since I covered it with dirt after photo but for setting poles the red bag product works great.

It is very convenient to be able to pour it dry in a hole and then add water to get it to set solidly. I have been very happy with it so far. It sets up well in a relatively short time, cures out well, has very good strength for setting fence posts. Maybe the best part is being able to dry pour and then wiggle the post if it is not perfectly straight before your pour the water and let it set. I think this holds the position better than a wet pour.

We built Four piers to install bollards to protect our HVAC units. Filled the holes with four bags of Quikrete adding a half gallon of water between bags and waiting a few minutes for the water to be absorbed. Resulted in Four solid very strong piers. This is great stuff, highly recommended.
