A: There are typically 63 bags of QUIKRETE® Play Sand per pallet. Please contact your local The Home Depot store for confirmation and for pricing.
A: QUIKRETE® Play Sand is screened and washed. It has no other ingredients, so it presents no more danger to fish than sand obtained from a beach or a river. As a safety precaution, soak the sand in water outside the aquarium for 30 minutes and test the pH of the water. Tap water pH typically varies between 5.5 and 8.5.
A: QUIKRETE® Premium Play Sand (No.1113) is safe for use in sand boxes intended for children’s use – this is the sand we recommend for creating habitats for wildlife. Most of the sand grains for QUIKRETE® Premium Play Sand are 1/8” and smaller and there is fine material. The gradation can vary somewhat based upon region.
A: Do not use QUIKRETE® Premium Play Sand for a pool filter. QUIKRETE® Premium Play Sand is a screened, washed, natural sand. The same as you find on the beach or in river beds and lake shores. However, the shape of the sand will vary regionally. Pool filters typically have very specific sand gradation requirements and often require a very tight gradation. You may consider QUIKRETE® Pool Filter Sand (No. 1153), which is designed for use in pool filters and has a typical predominant size range of #20 to #40, or 0.85 to 0.425 mm. The gradation can vary based upon region. Please consult with the pool filter manufacturer to determine any specific gradation requirements for use in the filter.
A: Pool sand is very effective filter, but it is pricy. Pool sand is much more effective at actually removing contaminants than play sand would. This would result in higher efficiency and less need for change.
