Which Quikrete Concrete is best for filling significant cracks in aggregate driveway? Plasticized grey liquid driveway sealing product from is coming out of previously repaired areas.
Asked by: David
I pulled out the broken pieces and then filed the gaps with Quikrete 5000. The color of the new concrete is different, but it has held up well.

You talk about tempature when pouring, are you talking about weather air or ground weather temp, 50 degrees?

Setting post for a retaining wall.
Asked by: TW
Air temperature. Ground temp is colder. Below 50 and mix will either take much longer to cure or not cure properly

How much money will I save on a 1700 sq foot building floor, buying mixing the creat and doing the labor my self vs. having someone else doing the job

Asked by: dave
see if my math is working 1700 sqft at 6 in = 1700 x .5 = 850 cubic feet 850 cuft/27 cuft = 31.48 cu yards that's a lot of mud to mix up unless the location is some remote area I would think it would be so much more efficient to use larger equipment, avoid the handling, packaging, etc. probably actually cost less to order a couple of trucks and the 5000 would most likely go off to fast to work a decent finish with hand mixing a big pour like that my 2 cents anyway

Can I use this for a 6'' thick equipment pad? Or is 1 1/2'' the maximum thickness?

The product I would like to use is the Quikrete 5000 high strength concrete product.
Asked by: lonnie
I have a secondary question to this. Do I need to add rebar to prevent sinking and weight on copper water pipes in hole?

Followed instructions, at the beginning it seemed fine, waited a little bit to apply brush finish, after seven days the brush finish doesn't seem to have any problems but smooth surfaces around the edges are shiny and started to flake, also I had to purchase additional bags to pour last step since I didn't purchase enough first time, so went to the store to get them and the color of last step is totally different from the others, much darker grey. I will probably just remove 1200 lbs steps I poured and just go with the old fashioned mixture. Extremely disappointed, the mix is cheap so I don't care about the money as much as I care about my wasted time and work I put into the project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great product for specific applications. When you need a high strength concrete in a short period of time - this product is the way to go. An example is replacing your garage apron, after 3 days you can easily drive your vehicle over it, where as for the same strength regular mix concrete it'd be 2.5 weeks to get the same strength. Another example is say a 4'x5' concrete pad for a stair landing coming off a wood deck. 2 days later the stair stringers can be placed without fear of chipping off a corner while installing the stairs. Also the working time is the same as regular concrete, so for a DIYer you'll need that time for leveling and finishing. But considering the extra cost compared to a regular concrete mix, this limits its use based on economics. Otherwise the product itself is the best out for a concrete mix.
