Something wrong

I believe you got the thickness wrong on your page, its only 1/2 inch thick in the specs
Asked by: lemmings88
first off, look at the pic. does it look 3 1/2" thick? that piece would be bigger than a football field if so...look at the picture again..... it says under rmax ...... plus 3. i know you see the pic but they are there to actually "look " at and help with the description. i can see how it looks like 3 1/2 though

Is this reflective on one side?

Watched youtube. Considering using inside window to reflect heat. Would rather use Renshade, a reflective perforated material but they don't sell it in U.S.
Asked by: Kathleen
Both sides are aluminum coated; one side IS reflective. I'm re-doing a room and put a couple of these in the window until window treatments go back up. It's my Florida room which always gets warmer than rest of house. Though I got these panels for wall insulation, it does help keep the heat out when put against a window. I'm only using 1/2" (because of the wall" but in front of a window you can get thicker which will have better effect. If you get it, I used a serrated kitchen knife to cut it, nice and clean. A razor makes a mess! (I also posted a review with some pics if you want to look)

I have a metal carport, could this be used on underside to prevent condensation on inside?

What would be good to fasten it up with?
Asked by: RCW
Bubble foil radiant barrier (typically called double reflective insulation, it looks like bubble wrap with foil on both sides) is easier to install on metal roofs that aren't straight because it isn't rigid (conforms to whatever roof shape you have). I use that in 2 barns with 0 condensation even with animals emitting a LOT of humidity into the space. For my installation, I removed the roof panels to install a continuous barrier to remove all condensation points, and taped all the seams.

Would this be the best way to insulate a van to live in? For a little sound proofing & insulation?

Asked by: Jasmine
Sure, if you like being roasted in flames like the buildings recently in London and Dubai. To fireproof it you need to put wallboard toward the living side on top of it. That's going to add weight.

This was the perfect insulation for the feral cat shelter we are building behind our business. I needed an insulation that wasn't bulky and this fit perfectly against the T 1-ll siding and 2x4 framing. Once that is in place, the next step is to add left over carpeting on the walls and floor as an additional insulator/comfort shelter. Very happy with this purchase.

It changed what was once an unbearable environment during the summer heat to a space easily kept cool with a small portable air conditioner. The product is rather delicate and easily damaged; it could use a heavier foil backing. Overall I am well satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Garage Door insulation I used this product as a garage door insulation. Installed it on each door panel cut to fit with the foil side facing outward. Must install it on some type of standoff, I used 1 inch pink foam board strips I cut and glued to the door panels, then put this over them leaving an air gap between the foil side of the R-Max panel and the door panel. What a huge difference this makes in the temps inside the garage. My garage door faces south-southeast so it gets very hot and makes the garage hot too. Not anymore. Great product and easy to work with. I added a bubble radiant barrier to the inside as well to keep heat in in the winter too.

I don't know about cold weather just yet on how effective it is but in this high humidity and heat I can feel the difference when entering my shed! I'm hoping it will work during our mild to non existent winter months . yes I would recommend this product to anyone who is a DIY person!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I thought I ordered the 1 1/2 inch foam board.... I thought I ordered the 1 1/2 inch foam board. I used the R Max last year. It is not a good temporary underpinning for my RV. The 1 inch and 1 1/2 inch foam board works much better for keeping the underside and slides warm. Wish I could return the r max. Worthless.
