AnswerBecause the thickness of the screw head that mounts the mud ring to the box, many installers will use the next size up mud ring, like the 5/8" for 1/2" drywall. A recessed gap no larger than 1/4" is acceptable within National Electrical Code, and our 999X leveling plate can also help with leveling when installing the devices.

AnswersThe screw holes for the device or wall plate look to be 3-9/32" on center apart. It is designed for a standard electrical outlet or how we utilize these for low voltage installations a single gang wall plate.

Product arrived and I noticed one of the tabs, that device screw goes into, was bent.
I straightened it out with a pair of linesman's pliers and it then lined up correctly.
This is made of quality steel and should last a lifetime.
I installed this prior to drywall and then realized it was designed for 1/2" drywall and in commercial installations we always use 5/8" drywall.
This wasn't a problem as the screws that came with the wall plate I was using were long enough but that's not always the case so make sure you order the appropriate 1/2" or 5/8" depth. The opposite would have been worse had I used a 5/8" deep mud ring on 1/2" drywall it would have protruded.

4" square single device 1/2" raised mud ring, It can also be used for all light switches even double duplex light switches ( Double Switches) I buying them by the pack of 50 it comes out to be cheaper .75 each in my area, We get them in 1/2", 5/8' and 1' raised mud rings for different applications and drywall thickness, mounting holes are notched for easier installation on electrical boxes.
