I had 4 of these rain barrels and used them for about 2 years before moving. I did not have any issues with the backs blowing out. I lived in central WI so they were not exposed to excessive heat. I would drain them in the fall when the temps started to drop below freezing. My only issue was the supplied hose would start to leak a little so to save my water I had to secure them in an upright position when not in use.

If you scroll further down the product page, you'll find the dimensions under specifications. They are: Depth = 20", width = 24" and height = 38"
26” wide, 20” deep, and 39” tall
No problem. Do your home work and check online for more tips
We drilled mine so it runs into the top where they show the plants. Then drilled drainage holes in that part, put a screen in and river rocks. The rocks cover the tube.
The weight of the water may push it out. Mine no longer has a flat back due to the pressure of the water
I have not experienced the problem you describe. My neighbor has not either. Could your water barrel be defective? i. e. the materials. A slight freeze will not freeze an entire barrel of water and then distort the shape. The barrel is subtle and adds to my landscaping. I would call the manager of your store, or write a letter to their corporate office. Get an exchange. The barrel was a healthy financial investment. I hope this helps. Home Depot has been very cooperative with my concerns over the years.
Drill a hole with a spade bit in the desired location where rain chain will descend. Use a reciprocating saw to make larger hole if needed
