Part number for the drum assembly is 27048.

What kind of attachments can I get for the Ridgid drain cleaning snake

Asked by Rollo February 25, 2021

Answer

Hi Rollo, This K400 comes with a spade cutter and bulb auger attachment. You can purchase separately other tools to add to the end of this cable from a T-208 Spiral Cutter (Cat. #63020/Home Depot #202826708)) for roots to 4-blade cutters like our T-213 (Cat #63045) for blockages caused by hardened, glazed material such as chemical deposits, which can be purchased by special order with your Home Depot customer service desk.

We’re thinking of purchasing a drum machine. Can you provide a price on a unit with 100 feet 1/2 thickness ( snake)  thank you so much. Also, locations where I can purchase this specific unit I’m inquiring about.

This ripped through two floors of backed up sewage like a monkey through wet newspapers. One word of advice though l - read the manual. You use forward to insert AND to pull out, reverse is only if you get stuck. So many clueless youtube videos.

Wonderful to use!!
I’ve only used it once so far. Easy to use, trees are notorious in our area. Cleaned the drain myself, saved paying roto rooter $$$ for the last time!! I’m glad I didn’t buy the auto feed, watched multiple videos and they suggested the manual one, you can feel the blockage with your hand! Also like the 1/2” cable, no kinks!!

I own/operate an Adult Care Facility for disabled veterans, 19 years now. Despite preventative maintenance our main drain line stops up about once a year or so (and sometimes a Resident sends something not meant for a toilet or what-have-you into the drainline). A call to the plumber always runs me about $200+ and sometimes a wait of a day or so for their arrival must be endured. I can tell you that in an Adult Care Facility a stopped up drain system is an apocalyptic catastrophe. Each time I call a plumber I tell them, VIGOROUSLY, that they must bring a drain auger with MORE than 50 feet of cable or they won't reach the (usual) problem area. Despite my warnings they rarely show up with more than 50 feet of cable and inevitably must call another crew or go get more cable or come back at another time, etc. etc. etc. Through the years of dealing with these issues I have considered, and studied up on, the purchase of my own personal drain auger. But reviews of the moderately priced ones (around $300) always left me too cautious to buy one. And this class of augers never have more than 50 feet of cable anyway. Profession augers run $2K to $3K. Couldn't bring myself to do that either. Fast forward to today and again I'm faced with a stopped up drain system. Large amounts of drain cleaner and even an entire bottle of lye failed to fix the problem. So I head off to Home Depot in hopes of finding a super-whammy miracle drain cleaner to pour into my system as a last resort to calling the inevitable and expensive and frustrating plumber. As I'm standing in the aisle staring at the liquids, gels and snakes my eyes drift down and spot a box marked "Rigid K-400". It's a power drum auger drain cleaner. It's not an economy model, not an expensive professional model either. And... wait! What does the box say? It comes with 75feet of 3/8 cable! 75feet! Perfect! Try as I might I am unable to justify NOT buying it at $499. I buy it and get it to the facility just before noon. I read the manual and get to work. By 3:pm ALL my drains have been cleaned and are functioning perfectly. The machine did all that was claimed it could do. And I didn't have to wait for (or pay) a plumber. Now I'm home and sitting at the computer looking at all the websites where I could buy and have shipped to me one of these K-400s and ALL of the sites (ALL OF THEM!) want more money than I paid today at Home Depot. The closest to my price ($38 more) would have had me waiting 2-3 days for the unit to arrive. I am a happy man.

Complete junk dont waste your time or money!!!
We just bought this sorry excuse for a tool about a month ago and within the first 15 min the front hose broke off and then the barrel cracked and that makes it off balance so it binded up. After that the belt started slipping so much it woukdnt even turn to feed the cable with no load. By the way the feed part didnt work either. It bent up and metal shavings have been coming off the parts. All around in the overall quality and satisfaction of buying this and using it i believe we got ripped off and would been better off paying some guy off craigslist to do the job we had. We only used this thing 3 times now and its practically unusable.

The cable brokes for the first time of use!
I bought this machine at my local Home Depot and next day I used it for the first time. I read the instructions and operated it without problem. However, when I was retrieving the cable back, it suddenly get stuck. After I managed to get the cable out I found it's somehow broken! The inner wire is fine but a small part of the cover coat fell off. I have took some pictures and you will see what I mean! I am really disappointed! There is a label on the package box saying the product may not be returned to the store is opened or used! I called the customer service and the guy said cable is wearable item and may not be covered for warranty! Oh really, I spent a couple hundred dollars and the junk cable just broke for the first time of use?! The email response from customer rep just give me link to find service center and repair request form! Why I can't return for a refund?! At least the company should send me a quality replacement and pick up the defective machine!

worked as expected, and I am glad it did
After having paid over $300 to a plumber to unclog the line coming from the farthest bathroom to the septic, I told myself, not again. Not because they aren't professionals or aren't worth the money, but I can buy a machine for less than the cost of two plumber visits and do the work myself immediately, not the next day, or on Monday to avoid weekend upcharges. BTW, forget about low flow toilets. They save you water, but they can't move solids if they are far enough. We have lived in this house 17 years; changed the old toilet to a low flow, and have had 2 clogs since the change. The machine worked perfect for my needs, so the first impression was really good. Hopefully it will last for a long time. Compared it with the other big box store comparable machine, the specs are better and has a better warranty. The specs on the machine offered by the big Chinese tool discounter are better, but the reviews are atrocious, and the warranty is only 90 days. Make sure to register your machine with RIDGID, otherwise your lifetime warranty is worthless.

K400 Beast
A little heavy for some folks, but it compensates by having wheels and a retractable handle. Smooth in operation, very comfortable to use.
