For dry pickups, be sure to use the appropriate type of pleated paper filter depending on the type of debris you’re vacuuming. A:  Hello Cutty, Thank you for your inquiry about our products. The blower port is the exhaust for the motor of the vacuum to prevent the motor from overheating. That is why the blower port doesn't have a cover even you are using it as a vacuum. If the air is too strong and blowing the dust you are picking up, we do recommend to use a diffuser (part number VT2525) which you can purchase through Home Depot. That way the air coming out the blower port will be diffuse and prevents the dust you are picking up to be blown. A:  Hi CAVW, Thank you for your inquiry. Sorry this model is not compatible with Dust Bags because the suction port is located on the lid. However, we have four filters available to fit your 12 gal wet/dry vac. The VF4000 is for general purpose dirt, the VF5000 is for fine dust like drywall dust or sawdust, and the VF6000 is designed for very fine filtration such as allergens, pet dander, and mold spores and VF7000 for liquid pickups. You can buy the filters at your local Home Depot store or on-line at https://store.ridgid.com/us/en/vacuum-filters The replacement filters found at your local Home Depot store are taller than the filters that we had manufactured in the past; and comes with integrated rubber plate, they will fit your RIDGID® wet / dry vacuum without using any adapter. Please follow the following installation tips: 1. Carefully slide the filter over the filter cage and press down on the outside edge of the filter until the rubber gasket on the bottom of the filter seats securely around the base of the filter cage and against the lid. 2. Align the small center hole in the top of the filter cage over the threaded bolt on the filter cage. You may need to press firmly on top of the filter near the bolt to allow the filter nut to twist.
