Questions & Answers

Can soft-start circuitry be added to this saw? If so, what will it cost?

Soft-start is a deal-breaker on this Ridgid saw because of the surge it will put on breakers and fuses. If this saw is not available with it I'll be buying the Bosch 4100 which DOES have soft-start.
Asked by: Luke
The soft start circuit is junk, i have had to replace 3 in the last 7 years and now they no longer make the one for my saw and will not honor the lifetime service on it.

Can this saw be stored on the cart vertically when not in use?

Asked by: JP44
Yes it can. In fact, folding up the table for transportation and storage is completely effortless. I was stunned at how easy ti was to collapse and maneuver. The saw is bigger than I expected, but it is designed very well.

I have had my saw for 3 years now, and overall I have been very satisfied with the saw. Features were good, I liked the fact that everything from the fence to the guards had a storage place on the saw. Power was acceptable and adjusting the blades was quick and consistent. However, I wanted to provide my experience with the Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA). My motor burned out right at the end of the normal warranty (3 yrs + 1 week). Thank goodness I remembered to fill out the LSA paperwork. I looked up the claim procedure and carried my saw to the nearest authorized service center (not the place of purchase), which in my case was inconvenient (over 60 miles away). Then the service center (an independent repair shop) files a claim with Ridgid and makes the repair. My saw has now been in the shop for 6 months. The repairman claims he has been unable to get a replacement motor from Ridgid. What use is the LSA if it takes months to get a repair?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great table saw! Bought this last month to replace my Craftsman table saw that died after more than 20 years of service. This Ridgid Table Saw works great out of the box. I had little trouble assembling its stand. But 30-40 minutes assembly time maybe not bad at all for old man like me. This tool looks sturdy and I am expecting this will still be in my garage for 10-15 years. Just want to remind all prospective buyers that this Table Saw won't start without inserting the YELLOW "KEY" in to the "Switch Slots". The manual says it's safety device. This Yellow Key doesn't look like a KEY! Please, don't throw it away! Lol! And also don't forget to register it within 10 days of purchase to avail for Lifetime parts and labor, just in case. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase! I believe this is great Table Saw!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good warranty, you'll need it. Bought Rigid based on the LSA (lifetime service agreement). But I didn't expect to have to use it so often. Bearing on the motor started squealing within 2 months. Became more frequent until I took it to the shop at 10 months. Ive had it back for 2 months and the squealing is now returning. LSA is great if you can be without your tool for 3 weeks. If you can't you'd better have a better saw than Rigid because you can't count on their products. Same is true for my Rigid Planer.

I purchased this saw in March of 2008 and used it as a professional home improvement contractor almost daily until I retired in 2012 due to an injury. From 2012 to the present I've used the saw fairly frequently in my hobby work and in various projects around the house (I added solid 3/4" hardwood floors in five rooms). To date the saw has required no repairs, no readjustments (beyond the initial truing up I gave it when I bought it) and no other service of any kind. It has powered through every task I've given it, without complaint. The onboard blade storage is terrific, and allows me to keep a small variety of blades handy for quick swapping, and ensures the blade wrenches never get lost. I really cannot think of anything negative to saw about this saw after almost 9 years of ownership!

After the saw was mounted on the stand,I set up the rip fence and it was accurate on trial cuts. However, the blade vertical adjustment was off and I was unable to correct it completely. I called customer support and they advised me on how to adjust. The adjustment improved the condition somewhat but the cuts are not completely blade vertical and I am not real happy. As a Home Depot avid customer, I need some help. Rated 4 out of 5 by from I've owned this Ridgid Portable Table Saw for around 6 months now, and I've been very happy with ... I've owned this Ridgid Portable Table Saw for around 6 months now, and I've been very happy with nearly every feature that it offers. The Good: The portability of this saw is very sweet. I love being able to tuck it away in the garage and not even know it's there because it folds up and stores so well. It's very lightweight and easy to maneuver, but it's also very sturdy. Yes, there's a lot of plastic, but it's solid where it counts. Plus, I'm not hauling my saw from worksite to worksite and slamming it in the back of a truck everyday. Also, if you're a DIYer, this saw can make the precise cuts that most weekend warriors need if the owner takes the time initially to ensure that everything is aligned an adjusted correctly and one takes his time. It's customary to go ahead and buy a better blade from the outset, so go ahead and bite the bullet there. The extendable table is also a big plus when trying to cut plywood or larger stock. It's come in very handy. The table top itself very sturdy as well and can hold a great deal of weight. I haven't gotten around to buying dado blades yet, but I do plan to do so, and I expect the saw will handle them fine since the arbor is plenty long enough. Finally, I'm paranoid around table saws more than any other piece of shop equipment, and the removable safety switch is quick and easy and gives me piece of mind. The Not So Great: I can't go so far as saying "bad," but there are a couple of features that I wish were more precise or user friendly. The first is the fence. It's not a bad fence by any means, and it's easy to slide, lock, and store. However, Dewalt has the market cornered on the rack-and-pinion fence. Plus, I understand that the previous Ridgid edition of this saw had a micro-adjust on the slide. I'm not sure how accurate that was, but it's my understanding that the micro-adjust fence has been discontinued. I get a precise cut by always measuring from the fence to the blade. The ruler on the table is close to accurate, but not perfect and will sometimes slip out of adjustment. Overall: Great quality table saw for the homeowner with space saving needs. (If you can get the $100 discounted Black Friday price of $299, it's a no brainer).
