Questions & Answers

How long is the warranty on this saw -Ridgid 12 IN. SLIDING COMPOUND MITER SAW WITH ADJUSTABLE LASER

Asked by: Jack
Lifetime service IF you register the saw within 90 days of purchase.

Is the laser built in and adjustable, or like the third-party ones that takes batteries?

Asked by: craftsman70
It takes batteries and attaches to the side of the blade. Mine went out many years ago which is fine by me. It worked fine for rough cuts but I don't trust lasers for finish work, I trust the outside edge of the carbide teeth.... -F3

Has the squareness issue been resolved with miter cuts not being straight when sliding the saw?

I'm interested in buying this saw but I've read in a LOT of reviews that your saws don't stay straight and are up to 1/8" off when sliding the saw to make a cut towards the back of the piece being cut.
Asked by: Silas67
I just recently purchased this saw, and I am experiencing this exact problem. I would say it is a known problem being that a thorough google search has referenced the exact issue many times over with the Rigid saw. I love everything about it, but it most definitely does not cut square when sliding. I have thoroughly checked that the fence is set square, and several cut tests confirm. HOWEVER, even when not under power, sliding the saw out to its fully extended position shows a VERY obvious tracking to the left. Blade remains square, but moves at least 1/8th of an inch away from the framing square. Obviously there is no fix for this issue, so if it so uncommon as many claim, Rigid should have no issue replacing defective units with this fault.

Look on Amazon you will notice others are having the same problem. Rigid will not stand by the life time warranty with this issue, claiming it is not a product defect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from blade is not parallel to the travel I've had this saw for about 5 years and until recently I have been happy with it. Now I cannot use the slide mechanism because the blade is not parallel to the slide direction of travel. I have locked the slide and can use the saw, but without the slide operational the width of cut is dramatically diminished. There is no apparent way to adjust the saw so that the blade is parallel to its movement. Considering the amount of money I invested in this machine I was expecting a life-time tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent saw I've had this saw since about 2005. Had to replace the plastic table guides only once. I've built many custom homes and remodeled dozens with this saw. Also remodeled dozens of kitchens/baths. The saw is a little on the heavy side, but I still love it. Easy to calibrate if necessary. Do not like the newer saws with the tiny table. What's that all about? This is, without a doubt, the best saw I've ever owned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Saw for the money I bought this saw after I gave up on my harbor freight 12in because it would not cut straight for the life of me. Yes I know I went cheap and it lead me to spend more which I should have done in the beginning. I like the Ridgid because it was a good saw for myself as a homeowner. Its a large saw with a big table and I also liked the fact you can adjust the saw if something is not true. What I did not like was the weight of the unit. If I were a contractor and had to move this saw around then I would not buy it. However if it will stay in one place generally then its fine. Also the laser is also adjustable, but like most of them, they never really work that great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best 12 in. sliding miter on the market I've had several miter saws and the ridged is the most user "friendly" saw I've worked with. Cut crown mold. & baseboards flawless. You can't beat the warranty (LIFETIME). Very Pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Saw for the money. I have had this saw for over a year now and use it all the time in my woodshop and for other projects. The saw it heavy but the base is bigger than other ones and helps keep it in place if your workng on the ground. I bought the stand with mine and that makes it so you don't have to carry it around and it wheels like it's own dolly for the saw. The blade it comes with is just a general blade so if you are going to do trim or finish work you will want to buy a different blade. I check for square and plumb out of the box and it was right on. After a year with a good bit of moving it has stayed right on so far. It has plenty of power to cut treated wood and I have cut plenty of treated lumber all the way to a 2x12 on it. The stand doesn't support the weight of larger lumber fyi.
