Blade wobble?

Ive read in some of the reviews about the blade wobble. Im wondering if i buy this saw and get the lifetime and it happens to have a wobble will it be repaired for free also. I love the rigid tools but i just dont want to get a bad tool and be stuck
Asked by: dragonsflame
I am a custom furniture maker working with a lot of reclaimed white oak (about 100 years old and as hard as wood can be). I purchased this miter saw for some of the unique features about 18 months ago. When I first bought it, I noticed a blade wobble that was troubling. I worked with the Ridgid technicians to solve the problem. Tuning the saw and replacing the blade with a high quality blade solved the problem. I am not concerned about the occasional vibration as if anything internal breaks, it will be covered by the warranty. This is one incredible saw! It cuts with amazing power and produced the kind of mirror smooth cuts that I need for custom furniture. I have already used this saw more than most will use it in 10 lifetimes. It has served me well and I highly recommend this saw. Tune it, get a great blade, and put it to work!

Am I the only one finding this design/manufacturing flaw? (see attached) At one end, the locking lever that allows you to lock the work support arm in place does not rotate 360 degrees as it should because the frame is in the way. In order for it to work properly, the weld would've needed a slight adjustment or the lever itself would have to be shaved down, which is ridiculous. Both units I got from the local store have this issue.
Asked by: KSDIY
It's a quick release pressure loaded adjustment lever. Just pull out on it a little and screw until it hits, repeat. You can loosen/tighten to your hearts content even though the frame rail is close.

Asked by: FIRSTRONIN
They are $100 plus for the set. Buy the ToughBuilt Miter Saw Brackets TB-S250, sold here for $30. They are about 1/8” loose but nothing a piece of foam tape on the clamping end can’t fix.

15 Amp Corded 12 in. Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw with 70° Miter Capacity is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2096.

I really like the led light and that it can do up to 70 degree miters. In the process of setting it up, the detents weren't working so I followed the directions to make the required adjustments and the nut was so seized up that it ended up breaking the miter lock lever. The associates at Home Depot were helpful and gave me a replacement. That one had the same problem - the detents weren't working (the detent pin was stuck up too high). In adjusting this one, the threaded rod that adjusts the detent lever snapped (it is still usable but again the detent stops don't work). I tried to call Ridgid customer service to see it a service center could replace the part and make the adjustment, but I was hung up on after waiting on hold for ~25 minutes. The light is a really nice feature and the saw cuts well, but if this can't be fixed I will probably exchange it for something higher quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from dont buy I bought this saw ten years ago. I was happy with saws performance until I dropped it and broke the handle. I was told the part is no longer available and I now need to replace the saw. I have written emails to the company and they have not responded. it is unacceptable to me that a company who's motto is "we build tools that last a lifetime and back them with industry leading warranty and support" are not willing to do anything about this. Ignoring customer complaints and hoping they will just go away is not good business! I would not buy it again

The fancy features are not meaningful when it couldn't fulfill its basic function well. I went through 2 of these and could not get a good cut when sliding. I also returned another one I didn't even use because it arrived with an older production code that was apparently prone to the blade wobble issue. I'm no expert, but the blade appeared to be squared to the fence as per instructions, but the saw could not actually make a straight cut at 0 degrees when sliding even just a couple inches. By this I mean that the cut was uneven going back and forth slightly between left and right, instead of just moving straight at a small angle. There was also a significant amount of vibration in the saw which I assume contributed to this problem. Note that this was even with a new Diablo finish blade. Three returns was enough for me and I decided to step up to a Milwaukee. The difference is incredible and I would suggest your strongly consider Milwaukee if it fits in your budget.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A piece of garbage I have wanted this saw for a long time. I was upgrading from the previous model which worked fine but was worn out. The blade wobble so bad it grabs the stock sometimes as well as has not done a square cut since I got it brand new a couple months ago. They know about this problem and apparently can't be bothered to fix it. I used to love Ridgid products but this is the last time I purchase one. Going to give it away to the first person that want's it or set it on fire.

Weight and portability are perfect and it rolls over large steps with ease. Very well thought out. easily a 5* product for the price. Not having a through axle hurts as it could be even more stable without the small amount of play allowed by the bolt on style wheels. Also Home Depot stopped selling the mounting brackets as an accessory.... Home Depot if you're listening BRING THEM BACK! Overall perfect piece of equipment for my needs, I have 3 sets of the brackets and use one for a portable workbench with a 3/4 ply top, one for a 4" Vice and lastly for my 10" Miter Saw. Rapid change is both simple and secure. A+

The bars are heavy duty and all the connections are tight. It folds easily up and down and is sturdy when upright, even with a 12" sliding DeWalt on it. The great thing about it is that the orange mounting brackets are quick release with heavy duty levers so I can quickly pop off the heavy saw, load the two separately onto the pickup, and then pop them back together at the jobsite. The material supports snug down easily with large levers and can be adjusted precisely so that the stops can be used for even critical cuts. The large wheels work well, but a are a bit wobbly. I'm a little worried that they put a lot of sideways torque on the spindles when tilted or going over something bumpy. Time will tell if they hold up. No reason to think otherwise at this point. Overall, a great saw stand and I haven't had to use the lifetime service agreement yet, but I'm sure glad to know it's there.

I always just figured it wasn't worth the expense. How wrong I was, kicking myself for delaying. Simple assembly, super easy to fold and roll. Makes for so much better of an experience if you keep your shop tools remote or in an accessory building where you multipurpose the space. Being mobile and not having to leave on a bench top consuming space is hands down the best part about this stand. Stand is extremely sturdy, the extensions for longer projects are incredibly convenient and strong. No troubles with 2x10x16' joists. If you look at this stand and say, I can't justify the cost, you are fooling yourself. Chip up and make the purchase.

The saw stand itself is solid and easy to operate and that is what I am rating excellent. The assembly instructions, on the other hand, are not so good. I am a do-it-yourselfer so I was able to muddle through the assembly, but I spent extra time re-doing a couple of steps in the assembly because the instructions were not clear. The manual is written in several languages so all of the written instructions are in the front of the manual making reference to one set of pictures in the back. The pictures made more sense so I followed them instead and missed a couple of fine points that were written out in the front and had to re-do those steps. If they had invested in more paper and more ink, they could have included pictures in each language section so everything you needed to see and know were right there on the same pages. No page flipping, no confusion, no mistakes, no problem. I could have down-rated the stand because of the poor instructions, but then someone may have thought it was not a good stand. Know it is a good stand, but expect some frustration when you assemble it.
