Blade wobble?

Ive read in some of the reviews about the blade wobble. Im wondering if i buy this saw and get the lifetime and it happens to have a wobble will it be repaired for free also. I love the rigid tools but i just dont want to get a bad tool and be stuck
Asked by: dragonsflame
I am a custom furniture maker working with a lot of reclaimed white oak (about 100 years old and as hard as wood can be). I purchased this miter saw for some of the unique features about 18 months ago. When I first bought it, I noticed a blade wobble that was troubling. I worked with the Ridgid technicians to solve the problem. Tuning the saw and replacing the blade with a high quality blade solved the problem. I am not concerned about the occasional vibration as if anything internal breaks, it will be covered by the warranty. This is one incredible saw! It cuts with amazing power and produced the kind of mirror smooth cuts that I need for custom furniture. I have already used this saw more than most will use it in 10 lifetimes. It has served me well and I highly recommend this saw. Tune it, get a great blade, and put it to work!

Am I the only one finding this design/manufacturing flaw? (see attached) At one end, the locking lever that allows you to lock the work support arm in place does not rotate 360 degrees as it should because the frame is in the way. In order for it to work properly, the weld would've needed a slight adjustment or the lever itself would have to be shaved down, which is ridiculous. Both units I got from the local store have this issue.
Asked by: KSDIY
It's a quick release pressure loaded adjustment lever. Just pull out on it a little and screw until it hits, repeat. You can loosen/tighten to your hearts content even though the frame rail is close.

They are $100 plus for the set. Buy the ToughBuilt Miter Saw Brackets TB-S250, sold here for $30. They are about 1/8” loose but nothing a piece of foam tape on the clamping end can’t fix.

The fancy features are not meaningful when it couldn't fulfill its basic function well. I went through 2 of these and could not get a good cut when sliding. I also returned another one I didn't even use because it arrived with an older production code that was apparently prone to the blade wobble issue. I'm no expert, but the blade appeared to be squared to the fence as per instructions, but the saw could not actually make a straight cut at 0 degrees when sliding even just a couple inches. By this I mean that the cut was uneven going back and forth slightly between left and right, instead of just moving straight at a small angle. There was also a significant amount of vibration in the saw which I assume contributed to this problem. Note that this was even with a new Diablo finish blade. Three returns was enough for me and I decided to step up to a Milwaukee. The difference is incredible and I would suggest your strongly consider Milwaukee if it fits in your budget.

The saw stand itself is solid and easy to operate and that is what I am rating excellent. The assembly instructions, on the other hand, are not so good. I am a do-it-yourselfer so I was able to muddle through the assembly, but I spent extra time re-doing a couple of steps in the assembly because the instructions were not clear. The manual is written in several languages so all of the written instructions are in the front of the manual making reference to one set of pictures in the back. The pictures made more sense so I followed them instead and missed a couple of fine points that were written out in the front and had to re-do those steps. If they had invested in more paper and more ink, they could have included pictures in each language section so everything you needed to see and know were right there on the same pages. No page flipping, no confusion, no mistakes, no problem. I could have down-rated the stand because of the poor instructions, but then someone may have thought it was not a good stand. Know it is a good stand, but expect some frustration when you assemble it.

But there are a couple of things that could be improved. The assembly instructions are somewhat confusing in places, like the descriptions of which bolts and spacers go where. After unboxing, take a few minutes to read all of the instructions start to finish and visualize how it goes together so you don't wind up having to re-do it. Also, the balance point (fulcrum) for big saws (I have the Ridgid 12" slider) requires a bit of effort to set up the stand with the saw mounted. I have to put my whole body weight down onto the handle to raise the saw. A couple of extra inches of handle might increase the lever action on the fulcrum. A workaround is the slide the saw all the way to the left before collapsing the stand for storage. The weight being more towards the handle helps, but then you have to move it back to center again.

Weight and portability are perfect and it rolls over large steps with ease. Very well thought out. easily a 5* product for the price. Not having a through axle hurts as it could be even more stable without the small amount of play allowed by the bolt on style wheels. Also Home Depot stopped selling the mounting brackets as an accessory.... Home Depot if you're listening BRING THEM BACK! Overall perfect piece of equipment for my needs, I have 3 sets of the brackets and use one for a portable workbench with a 3/4 ply top, one for a 4" Vice and lastly for my 10" Miter Saw. Rapid change is both simple and secure. A+

I decided to go with Ridgid as I have some other Ridgid tools and they seem to be a good quality for the handyman. I really like the micro-bevel adjustment screw, need one for the miter angle too! Dust collection works great, Construction is solid, easy to adjust the miter and bevel you need. With the right blade - I switched to a negative hook blade, the cut is very clean. I'm not getting any blade wobble. There is are few design issues, when the head is tipped to 45 degrees to the right, you need to remove the movable back plate and the power cord to the motor will still catch on the back plate, the safety shield needs to be pull back manually a little bit to get it up if you're at 45 right or left. The one quality control issue - I also found that when the bevel is set to 90 degrees [verified with an electronic level] the right 45 is really 44.8 degrees the left is 44.6 degrees. So I need to adjust the head each time I changed the bevel. I can only assume the detent plate is not properly cut. This is why I'm not going with five stars.

I have a Dewalt 715 12 inch miter that takes up much of my workbench . I wanted to store it but have it easy to access when needed. I compared Ridgid to Dewalt and Harbor Freight ones. The Dewalt stand was the most disappointing to me. Harbor freight was very good but fold out legs were cumbersome. All competitors had four foldout legs that took longer to set up and take down. They also were less sturdy. The big wheels, ease of setup, sturdy build and under 100$ price swayed me toward Ridgid. One complaint that I have is the manual. It's difficult to follow, has tiny print and diagrams and hard to follow. Fortunately unboxing and build is very easy to understand just by looking at the box. It took me less then 20 minutes with interruptions. I can't overstate how happy I am with this stand. It's by far the best Ridgid brand purchase that I have made.

The left and right material supports, deflect downward quite a bit. This would be ok, if it was same amount of deflection all the time. However, the deflection changes (height changes) based on the amount of material is it supporting. I have on numerous ocassions cut one end of the board, and after sliding the board over for another cut, have to readjust the height of the material support(s) so the board sits flat on the miter saw. This is extremely frustrating. The purpose of a stand is to support long and possibly heavy material. Just cutting varying lengths of 2x6 requires constant running back and forth to correct for the sag. Also, using the end stops built into supports is nearly useless for any fine cuts. Rough cuts only. Again, this is due to the deflection of the supports. The ends are not rollers, they are just tubes. Would be much nicer if supports were either braced, or made stiffer. A knob to lower or raise them would be excellent, too. However, that MAJOR annoyance aside, it assembled easier than my table saw stand from a popular German company, and lowers and raises with far less effort. I was quite surprised how easy this thing folds. I picked this up around the holidays, where the price drops considerably. I feels it's a bit bulky of a stand, and question often, if I shouldn't have gotten a more compact stand. It's very stable once set up, and I do see people adapting this for other uses. They should make additional tool mounts more affordable as well. Having to go with a different brand mount to get a reasonable price is upsetting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome stand for the price! I just purchased this stand for $99 at the Deeps recently. Model #AC9946. I wanted the Bosch stand but didn’t want to pay $299 for it. Rigid made this stand very similiar to the Bosch but for $200 cheaper. I love it so far! I put my Milwaukee M18 Fuel 10” Miter Saw on it and it fits perfectly. You’re gonna like the 12” wheels on this. It moves around with ease. Only negative are the instructions to put it together. Just go on YouTube and Rigid has a video showing a guy putting one together which makes it pretty easy. Even though the Bosch is probably the “better” mobile miter saw stand, the $99 price point makes this the much better value of the two and just make sure to register it online to get the Rigid LSA.
