Yes it will cut tile. My tile was 3/8 in . It will cut deeper but I don't think I know of any tile thicker my be 1/2in.

Are TTI / Ridgid including a 3/8 arbor flange as of Nov 2020?

Asked by evilcart November 30, 2020

Answer

Yes. I own the tool. It works the same as the M12 or the Ryobi cutoff. There is an arbor flange included to hold the blade in place. If you didn't get one - HD does not stock those - HD has flange nuts in the screw/nail aisle. Or you can contact the closest Ridgid authorized repair center (you can also try the Milwaukee repair center) to see if they can mail you one.

How well does it cut wood and what blade is best for cutting wood?

Asked by PhillyP November 23, 2020
1
Answer

When I first got this saw I did try it out on wood and had good results. To be honest I have so many other tools that are better for cutting wood, I’ve never used it for that purpose again. I seem to remember there was a blade mark for cutting wood, but if you are doing more than a couple small cuts, would recommend you find a saw more suited for your work. Miter saw, circular saw, table saw or even a Jig saw.

What's the max depth of cut?

Answer

The max depth that you can get with the guide on 3/8 of an inch. Just a little more if you take the guide off. Hope this helps.

Will this remove the lug nuts from a ford 250?

Asked by Ron November 9, 2020
1
Answer

If the lugnuts are properly torqued and not seized on for some reason, this impact COULD remove the lugnuts, but it will struggle and probably hammer away for several seconds. If your primary use will be removing lugnuts, there's really no practical reason to go with a sub-compact 3/8 inch impact wrench. You'll be happier, if this is the primary use, with a larger 1/2 inch impact wrench with more torque. Yeah, it will be heavier and won't look at cute, but will be better suited for lugnut use. If your primary use will be smaller tasks under the hood or around the house, with only the occasional lugnut use, then this may get you by. But it still won't just zip the lugnuts off like you might be expecting based on the rated removal torque specifications. Don't get me wrong, this is a great tool, and typically the first one I grab for most impact needs in my garage. But if I'm removing lugnuts on anything other than an ATV or UTV, I go for the larger, heavier, 1/2 inch impact wrench.

A tool you didn't know you needed
I purchased this tool with a single project in mind. We were planning to install Vinyl plank flooring in our “Primary Bedroom” but naturally I wanted to try it out first. After buying a 3’’ cutting disc assortment, I tested this on door trim, #5 Rebar (⅝’’ Diameter), ½’’ PVC pipe, 7/16’’ OSB plywood and ⅛’’ Masonite Hardboard using a Ridgid 6 aH Octane battery with great success! The standard door trim was too thick to cut all the through, but it was still a clean cut. I was able to cut through the rebar with little wear and tear to the cutting disc and no stalling from the Sub-Compact, brushless motor. However, I did need to bend the rebar at the cut in order to finish cutting all the way through. Once I bent it down, I was easily able to cut the remaining ⅛’’. Cutting the rebar still made a good amount of sparks, but they are forced away from your body. The wood and plastic blade I used to cut through the OSB plywood had no issues, slow downs and did so with ease. The dust was kicked forward of the tool which kept the cutting surface free and clean of the debris. Overall, I would recommend this tool for anyone who already owns Ridgid Tools and needs to make minor cuts. Are you going to build an entire house with this tool…. No. But will you be able to complete the punch out task, do a quick remodel, avoid making an excessive trip to the saw cut station… Absolutely! Because this tool is cordless, you aren’t tied down by a cord. You can easily fit it into your tool box without adding to much bulk or weight. This will make quick jobs even faster with just as accurate cuts! Because Ridgid offers 100% compatibility on all their batteries, you do not have to worry about buying a special battery if you already own one. I will have to hand it to Ridgid on this tool, this is a tool that I didn’t know I needed until I used it.

Good powerful little impact wrench. The size of it literally surprised me. It is really compact and definitely packs a punch. I first used it with some 4 inch 3/8 lag bolts and it drove them in without a problem with or without a pilot hole. It actually surprised me when one lag bolt did not want to go in and actually snapped it in half. It definitely removed lug nuts from any of my vehicles from the work truck to the family SUV. It has basically four speeds. One of the speeds is really nice because it drives in the bolt but once it hits bottom it will stop so I can torque it and not over do it. I got some really good run time with a 6ah battery. I actually did not use it all driving in lags for a patio, remove tires, did some brakes and still had 2 bars. It’s a brushless motor which is very efficient. Even though this impact is smaller and doesn’t have the power of the big 1/2 inchers, for me I would definitely say I can do 90% of the jobs I need to do. I really like everything about this impact even its balance and weight. I believe it’s rated at about 250 foot pounds and I would say it’s probably close to that from the task I had to do. It never once overheated on me and is was atleast 100° outside. I really like the feel of it and you can definitely feel the impact hitting when you’re either removing or screwing in a bolt. The impact did feel a little close together not like others that I’ve used for the impact her a little more spaced but the power is there and that’s what matters.

This little saw really surprised me and in a good way. Even though it’s small and I did have doubts at first it’s had plenty of power and actually came in much more handier than I originally thought. On a flooring job I used it to cut straight lines on some tile to transition floorings and it worked out great. I did a dry cut and it went smooth and did the job. It also works really good for those flimsy plywood’s and other 1/4 inch sheets. I was able to just cut on the ground with no problems. On metal i just cut some thin metal paneling which went good as well. Obviously this saw won’t replace a true circular saw but I definitely found uses for it and more to come. It’s pretty lightweight and made well. It’s very easy to use and the blades it came with are pretty good quality. Definitely suggest use the octane batteries and run time will go far beyond expectations. I like the shoe of it or base plate because it really does help to cut straight lines. I do home remodeling so this compact saw is right up my alley. It has plenty of power but I definitely don’t say it’s like a circular saw. Definitely would recommend it. One giant thing I really liked about this is I used it to cut acrylic sheets with ease.

This is the bare tool without a battery – but in order to test this I used a 2Ah battery. It has a very compact body - it weights 2 lbs 1.4 oz. without a battery and 3.0 lbs. with the battery. The body is 4.33” long, 2.63” wide and the overall height with the battery is 9.09” tall (see photo). The body length of 4.31” as shown in the Product Overview is false (from the tip of the anvil to the rear of the battery housing) it is really 5.56”. Note I am using the smaller 2Ah battery, not the longer Hyper High Output 2.0Ah battery. Because of its compact size and weight, it is a great tool for general use on surface fasteners – the compact body also gets to some hard to reach fasteners, but the large battery base sometimes gets in the way, but by using a combination of u-joints and extenders, most but not all fasteners can be reached. Overall, it has a nice balanced feel. This has a belt clip that can be attached to either side of the battery plate. This has a 4 mode speed control: 1, 2,3 and Auto. Speeds 1, 2 and 3 limit the maximum RPM’s to 850, 2100 and 2800, Auto when used in the forward direction stops when its starts impacting and when used in reverse will stop when impacting is completed. The LED light in the mode panel is bright enough to be clearly visible even in direct sunlight.

This wrench has impact! Lots of it and the compact size and lighter weight make it easier to use for a longer time and gain access to tighter areas particularly in the automotive industry. Be sure to have a few batteries though because this tool gets through them. I found attaching the sockets a little bit problematic but I know this will ease up over time – it always has with other similar tools. In the video a couple of large lag bolts are driven deep into a wooden bar and mode 3 proved to be the best option for this task. The other modes will prove their worth more in different environments. Build quality is good and the lifetime service offer is an excellent incentive.

(What's this)
A compact saw with big ambitions it easily cuts a wide range of materials with the included cutting wheels – see video. It makes a mess too so safety gear is essential. The tool is nose heavy which helps in keeping the cutting wheel in contact with the workpiece. It is compatible with all Ridgid 18 volt batteries and does drain the batteries quite quickly. Clean cuts are easily achieved on flat materials but I need a bit more practice on cylindrical materials for sure. It made short work of neatly cutting 1/8 inch by two inch flat bar steel and glazed tile. A worthy inclusion to any toolbox.

(What's this)
First, I am a huge Ridgid fan, any company who believes in their products so much they put a life time warranty on them knows their tools are good! This addition to my collection is a great little tool, cut cleanly through PVC, drywall and just one small chip on the ceramic tile I tried it out on. It is light weight, easy to handle, not very loud, compact in size and plenty of power to cut the above items. It also cut through the metal item I tried it out on, the cut was rough and the saw bogged down pretty bad even though I was taking it very slow. The metal in the picture is aluminum. Just to do a quick rough cut on something like that it will be fine. Just not a pretty edge. It comes with on tool storage of the 4mm Allen wrench needed to do all the adjustments and to change the wheel. Wheel changing is very easy and quick, There is a small LED light to help light up your work area. Maintenance on this tools seems like it will be real easy. The topper on all of this, it will not take up a lot of room in your shop or tool box.

This is coming from a guy that owns the M12 3/8 impact wrench
My comparison only goes as far with my experience with the m12 cousin and the makita xwt11, which all focus on delivering power in a small and compact design. Does it deliver? If you take into account how TTi managed to make the head so small and still pulls out a reasoble amount of torque, then we have a decent impact driver that does that in its class. Is it more powerful than m12? No, but it’s close enough when compared to other competitors in similar category. IMO it performs better than makita’s xwt11, which has 1/2 anvil and a similar spec rating of 225 ft lb. The downside of the tool just like the subcompact impact driver and multi material saw is the noise department because it’s louder when compared to m12 only because the m12 gets the work done a little quicker and with more power. Where does this fit in? Lag screws for deck work and maybe....in the automobile department if everything is torqued according to specs and nothing over 225 ft lb rating. The battery size is not so much a problem, but the actual size of the tool really doesn’t do it justice if you haven’t seen it in person. It does look like a toy, but don’t let that decieve you. Only time will tell if it will withstand the abuse in a real world situation.

This coming from a guy that owns the m12 cut off tool
I want to first off say I waited too long for this too that I almost stopped caring, but I guess I will write a review coming from a guy that has experience with both tools so far. As a contractor, I am always looking for multi purpose tools to help solve solutions especially in places where it requires a small tool to get the job done with a certain amount of finess and control. Now, for those who use TTi tools will know what i am about to say next, which it’s regarding the features that each brand has. The m12 cut off sounds more complete on paper, but it is mssing a variable speed.....why do you need it? At full speed, you are more likely to chip the tile you are working on. The ridgid has variable, but it’s missing dust collection which I need for cutting cement board. Ridgid decided to remove dust collection to save on cost, but it would have helped a great deal if they simply included the 3/8 arbor adapter at no extra cost. You see where i am getting at? Features are missing for the oddest reasons. When you compare performance, Ridgid does not cut out or stall like the M12, so that is a good thing. That means i can cut at full depth of the material w/o stalling it. Ridgid’s head where it houses the motor is overall smaller than the m12, but overall weight is about the same w/o the battery for each. In conclusion, you want better performance with variable speed and cleaner cut, go ridgid. If you want better dust collection, go M12. You want both features, buy both. If you ask for my honest opinion, I would pick ridgid for the variable speed control, but i wish that guide was better as it proves to be pretty useless. As for its lack of dust collection, maybe someone can create some kind of dust vac attachment like I have seen people do it. Ridgid definitely has the advatage over the M12 simply for being an 18v.
