I've owned about every brand of cordless 18 to 20 Volt tool, and Rigid is the best value quality tool of them all. With the possible exception of my much more expensive Red cordless tools, the orange (RIgid) line of tools is one of my favorites and definitely the best warranty and value quality cordless tool line. The brushless 18 Volt 1/2" Rigid Hammer Drill is very powerful and is my go to drill for many jobs. The 800 Inch pounds of torque in such a light weight design is incredible! The 1/2" chuck ratchets down and secures bits very securely. The LED light allows for great visibility in hard to see locations. When using the hammer drill feature, the supplied grip handle mounts to the drill body very easily and greatly helps offset the torque and apply proper amount of pressure with masonry drill bits. I own a number of other Rigid tools and batteries; the tool only purchase option allows for an even greater value and choice of options from the large selection of compatible 18 Volt Rigid tools and accessories. I highly recommend the Rigid 1/2" brushless hammer drill.

RIDGID 18V Cordless 1/2 in. Hammer Drill My neighbor had this tool when he helped me out with a project we were working on for the new hot tub. We prepped the area for the electrician (the trench from house to tub and the hole needed in the wall near the circuit breaker panel for the conduit/cables). This hammer drill effortlessly went through the brick! I knew nothing about this tool before that day and after I saw what it could do, I realized (of course) that I needed one for other jobs around the house! (I already have batteries, they are interchangeable with other RIDGID tools). High on my list was needing new holes for the satellite cable coming into the house (we changed how the rooms were setup and moved the TVs). That is another job checked off my list! A couple years ago, we installed a sliding barn door and were unable to drill the hole for the floor guide (we have concrete floors). I tried with our regular drill and gave up. That is the next thing I am going to finally get to finish. This tool will save a LOT of time on my continued DIY projects! Thanks to you RIDGID!

Check out the video for a quick look at the drilling and hammer functions. This Ridgid brushless hammer drill is a very solid follow up to their previous model being 25% lighter and 45% more compact than their previous model. It is well balanced and drives with ease. Drilling holes is just as easy as the driving function and it accomplishes that task with ease. It has a great price point and comes with the Ridgid lifetime service agreement which is a huge plus. Has about 70 lb/ft. of torque which is more than enough for any of your drilling/driving needs, and the hammer function is select-able so you can use it as a regular drill, and torque controlled driver, or a hammer drill.

I took this out of the box and had a battery that I didn't charge but, inserted and started using for my trim work in my dining room and was impressed that I got quite a bit done and didn't have to worry about the up and down on the ladder because it held up really well. It is somewhat heavy and I had to go back and forth between my arms because of the weight but, I am extremely pleased with the function and long lasting battery life and the ease of operation. Very nice!

Nice and powerful half inch hammer drill. All metal chuck and it integrates hammer and drill modes with the different screw driving modes all on the same ring. The trigger is sensitive enough to give you good speed control while drilling though it’s not the most sensitive I’ve experienced. I don’t think you’ll have any problems finding the sweet spot between the work piece and your quality drill bits. The mode ring itself is a little loose and the clicks between settings don’t always feel smooth but this is nitpicking to the extreme. It still locks into every setting securely and moves smoothly when you are quickly turning the ring (as opposed to me going slowly and feeling every click for this review). Overall weight and length pretty typical. It does have a light on the base above the battery which is oriented properly to illuminate your target area. A nice solid hammer drill that Ridgid fans can be proud of and anyone getting into a platform should take a look at. But if you’re happy with your drill and a different platform, this might not be the tool that finally convinces you to switch.

The RIDGID 18V Cordless 1/2 in. Hammer Drill impressed me! It was easy to use the variable speed to control the drill without shaking me or throwing me off my mark. It surprisingly had the power to drill through my basement cement wall with ease. The torque adjustment seemed just right to drill anchored holes into the basement wall to mount a wire storage basket to hold supplies. (Just be sure to use a Masonry grade bit, like the Tap Con shown in my pictures) Next I will try drilling into mortar and brick to mount an outside motion light, but I feel very confident in the drill. Surprised me since I had feared it not be on par with other brands who carry a "rough and tough" reputation. It was a great addition to my tool stock.

This tool does a good job with light and medium duty masonry jobs. So far, I've used it to attach a mailbox to brick and to hang a TV over a fireplace. It performed each duty fine. I don't really do heavy duty jobs so this tool worked out just perfect for me. It is also lighter and smaller than the other hammer drills that I have, but worked just as well.

For an 18V tool this thing packs a lot of punch. It has 22 torque settings, a high and low gear ratio and a hammer mode for driving masonry bits in to even the toughest of materials. A belt clip and bit holder are provided that can be mounted either side of the base of the tool. This Ridgid 18V cordless 1/2 inch hammer drill is supplied as a 'tool only', you will need to use your own battery and battery charger. For an in-depth look at this tool, please take a look at my video review.

Rigid, the best kept secret in cordless tools! I don’t know what took me so long to discover Rigid power tools. I’m glad I did but regret not doing so earlier. This tool is no exception. The hammer drill features a brushless motor. Brushless? Trust me, it’s better and when shopping for cordless tools and faced with the choice pick the brushless one, better performance and longer lasting batteries. If you register your tool and batteries, within 90 days of purchase, with Rigid you’ll get a lifetime warranty upgrade over the standard 3 year warranty. This alone is worth the price of admission. I’ve had to toss perfectly good tools when the batteries were “no longer available” (the yellow brand). This drill is replacing a corded hammer drill, it’s lighter, more portable and has enough power for most jobs you’re going to encounter. The ½” chuck is good and the dual speed setting handy. I was skeptical of the built-in work light, but it works great. Don’t second guess yourself, this is a great deal!

I had never used Ridged power tools before this but I love the warranty - lifetime - and I'm open to better tools, always. I actually ordered 4 different Ridged tools. None of these came with batteries, but there are lots of options at Home Depot's website for starter kits. I picked one up and was ready to go. Registration on the website for the warranty was easy. Make sure to take a pic of your receipt. It takes a couple weeks to get verified but while you wait you still get 3 years. The hammer drill worked worked really well with my 18V 3amp batteries. Very powerful. I love the settings options. It also came with an off hand grip, which I don't use but if I were going through brick or concrete I may. I'm happy with this.
