Good, but battery usage is questionable
This is a pretty standard issue cordless circular saw. It works with any of the Rigid 18V batteries you may have from other Rigid cordless tools. It comes with an 18T 6.5" carbide blade and a hex key tool on board, as most others do. I used a brand new, fully charged 18V 4Ah Rigid battery and made approximately 15-20 cuts on 2x4s and 2x2s. And I cut a piece of plywood. The cuts were okay and the saw seemed powerful enough, no problem. It wasn't a huge project, but when I was done, I threw the battery back on the charger. I couldn't believe it was already down 2 bars. I haven't had the need to use the bevel just yet, but it has a 50 degree capability. All in all, a nice unit. I hope the battery life was a fluke.

Light and powerful
I would call myself an intermediate DIYer. I tackle small projects around the house like shelving and simple sheds and decks. The Gen 4 brushed 6-1/2 circular saw has proven to be a fairly solid tool for about a decade. The biggest gripe with it is it bogs down and does a temporary shutdown when pushed a little hard. This new brushless model seems to not have this issue. Paired with a 3ah Octane battery I ripped 7/16 OSB like paper and crosscut 2x6 with ease. I can push about as fast as I feel comfortable and the saw eats across the lumber without missing a beat. I have never had a saw with the blade on the left, it tool me a minute to get used to but it is really nice IMO. The safety trigger is a little bit of a nuisance, not critical though. The dust port is a nice feature that seems to work well, I usually cut outside so it probably won’t use it. It has all the typical features like depth and angle adjust. There is a slot for a small fence but no fence is included. I really like the saw and it’s perfect for my needs.

Great circular saw for various DIY jobs: Powerful, light, and fits nicely in hand
The Ridgid 6 ½ circular saw is a great tool for beginner woodworkers and DIY users. I use it for a variety of home repairs and small projects around the house like making raised bed gardens, benches, shelves, bird houses, and other small toys. It cuts 2x4s like butter and works well with a 2.0ah or 4.0ah battery. I am also happy to see a vacuum attachment to it, as it creates significantly less sawdust in the garage. I use it with the Ridgid cordless vacuum which has a really strong suction and didn’t need to get any attachment to it as it worked with the vacuum attachment on the saw. It is not zero dust by no means, but possibly 30-40% less compared to using it without a vacuum attached. Since I use it in the garage, the dust output may otherwise be a concern. There is still some sawdust that I can quickly clean with the vacuum itself. It has a smaller footprint and is lighter than larger 7 ¼ circular saws and fits nicely in hand making it easier to control. The cordless operation is a huge advantage as you don’t have to maneuver around a cable that always happens to be in the way. Another relief is that it comes with a lifetime warranty once registered on the Ridgid website. Overall, this is a great little (but not so little) circular saw for a variety of jobs.

Handy little cordless saw with great Ridgid quality
I’ve been very happy with my Ridgid 18V cordless tools and this saw has been a great addition. I like it’s size for the kind of DIY stuff I do and appreciate its portability and ease of use. Built in wrench holder, easy lock angle adjustment and fantastic ergonomics make it a winner for me. It is easily powerful enough to cut panels, 2x4s and most home project needs.

Saw For A DYIr
Being a retired DIYer, this is the perfect circular saw for me. I am working on small remodeling projects. Slowly moving away from corded to battery powered tools. The saw has many built-in safety features. The lightweight saw grips securely in the hands. The depth and angle of cut is easy to adjust and securely locks into place. Since this is my first Ridgid tool, I had to separately purchase the 18V battery and charger. I had a minor issue with the battery which was quickly resolved via Ridgid representative. Finally, all three pieces are covered by a lifetime warranty. Great saw!

Very Nice
The RIDGID 18V Cordless 6 1/2 in. Circular Saw (Tool Only) is a very good and well-featured tool. This is a "TOOL ONLY" saw and doesn't come with a battery or charger but since I already own several RIDGID 18V tools with chargers and batteries this was a perfect choice. You can use any 18V RIDGID battery in this saw but the higher amp batteries add weight to the saw. I prefer the 2 amp batteries to make the saw lighter. This is a well-featured saw with an aluminum base plate, aluminum upper blade guard, lever actuated adjustments and a 1 1/2 inch vacuum port on the blade guard. There are also molded-in rubberized grip panels that aid in getting a firm grip on the saw. This saw is very easy to adjust and can cut to a depth of 2 1/4 inches. That's plenty for most cutting tasks. The saw is supplied with a 18-tooth general purpose, thin kerf blade that is okay for most jobs. I found that it had a tendency to bind when cutting moist 2X4 lumber and the power wasn't as good as saws with brushless motors. But I knew this was a brushed motor saw when I got it so I won't ding it for that. I haven't tried other blades but sometimes a better blade gives better results. It comes with a Lifetime Service Warranty that covers parts and service. I think most users will be happy with this 6 1/2 inch saw and as such I recommend it.

Powerful portable saw
This saw will be nice for small projects and you don’t have to worry about extension cords to get set up and going. For battery power, it does quite well. I ordered just the saw, because I have batteries for other Ridgid tools that interchange. Tried cutting a 2x4 and 1x4 which was no problem, saw went right through them. Even used the depth gauge on blade guard to cut a 1/4” groove in the 1x4, worked very well. Saw adjusted for blade angle and depth. It does have a trigger release button you must press to start the saw. Weight was more than I expected, but much less than full size circular saw (also I was using 4 AH battery). This will be a handy and useful tool to have around the house, very portable.

Great weight for a woman to use
I've used circular saws in the past, which were somewhat heavy for my use. This battery-operated saw is perfect for a woman to use. It features a 6.5 inch blade and takes an 18 volt battery. It doesn't come with the battery, so you will need to be sure to pick one up as well as the charger. I already had the battery from another Rigid tool, so I was good to go. The portability of a circular saw makes it really versatile. Instead of using a fixed table saw in the garage, I can take this tool right to the place I am working, so it saves a lot of time.

Great Features!
I started collecting these Ridgid 18 volt cordless tools with a drill. Then I got a nailer and some extra batteries, and a big wheeled toolbox to keep it all in. I have found all of these Ridgid (black&orange) tools to be top-notch, as good or better than my old (black&yellow) tools. The latest addition to my collection is this 6-1/2" circular saw. As with the others, I am really pleased with this tool. Compared to my older saw, it is lighter, handier, and more compact. The base plate is heavy stamped aluminum, with all the expected fittings and adjustments. I had my doubts about the small motor, but I tested it against an old dry pine 2x6, and it zipped right through as fast as I could push it. Even when I was deliberately trying to stall it, it just kept going, so plenty of power. Of course, if you are actually trying to do a good job, this saw will do that too. My only complaint is that, as a 'bare tool', there is no edge guide. That is something that is often hard to find; for a few pennies I really wish they had thrown that in. With cordless tools, it is important to have a wide range of tools that all take the same battery, so you don't end up with a bunch of oddball batteries and chargers. Ridgid seems to have quite a wide range of tools in their line. Next up I would like a jigsaw and a mini-router.

Cordless! – Great Value in Kit Form (#R9207)
Background: 1. I have thought that a cordless circular saw would be a good addition to my Ridgid set of tools for some time. I believe this is the first Ridgid left side blade cordless circular saw and was happy to order it as I prefer left side blades. 2. I’ve tested this with a 4ah battery on dry 2x material and, without pushing overly fast, it cuts fine. I have not tested it on wet pressure treated material, plywood, or tried to push it through material quickly. What’s good: 1. It’s cordless! 2. Good sight lines and clear guide notches for both 90 degree cuts and 45 degree bevel-cuts. 3. The electric blade brake quickly stops the blade. 4. It has an adjustment to ensure the blade will cut at 90 degrees 5. The saw motor, when not cutting, is pretty quiet. 6. Blade changing hex key mounts on the saw. Be Aware: 1. This is a 6 ½” blade saw. It will not be able to do some of the cuts that can be done with a 7 ¼” saw. That said, it will be able to cut 2x material and the spec shows that it will clear 2x on a 45 degree bevel cut. I have not tried that yet myself. 2. The self-retracting blade guard works well is most conditions except making very thin trim cuts. For that you will have to manually move the guard as it will interfere with completing the cut. 3. The blade is fairly thin. 4. My guess is this was designed more for the DIY user instead of everyday contractor use. 5. Once the blade engages with wood, like most saws of this type, it is much noisier and hearing protection is a good idea. Areas to improve: 1. The dust port makes a mess. My right leg was covered with dust very quickly! It also traps dust and can dump it out where you don’t want it. Considering this is a battery tool and designed to be more portable, a dust collection bag makes much more sense than a vacuum attachment. The saw needs a dust collection bag and/or should have a way to aim the dust ejection away from the user. 2. Detents for bevel angle adjustments would be nice. Overall: I think this is good for what it is. If you buy it in a kit (Model #R9207, Home Depot Store SKU #1005934263), which appears to be targeted to DIYers, you get two batteries, a charger, and a drill/driver. At the current price, 179, that’s a good value.
