Love Ridgid, hate the batteries. 1 drop of water and they are dead, bad for someone who lives in Florida. They swap them out, but what a hassle. Started using Ebay batteries which are way more hearty and this charger gives me the best performance out of them.

TRULY UNIQUE AND INNOVATIVE
Ridgid has created an innovative product that is truly multi functional. I am very impressed with the quality and design of this GEN5X Dual Port charger. The ability to charge two 18 volt cordless tool batteries using only one charger is time saving and space saving as well. On its own this charger is really nice but add the other features of this charger and you have a unique charger.
Two USB ports give you the ability to charge any USB compatible device ( smart phones, tablets, etc. ) and two AC outlets in the front of the charger are useful for plugging in other chargers, radios or any other low amperage AC device. This charger also has a maintenance mode/ power saver mode like any of the Gen4 chargers you get with any Ridgid power tool so you can leave batteries on charger to keep them fully charged when needed.
I placed the sequential dual port charger I received in my basement work shop and I plugged my Dewalt potable work site radio into outlet. I have also charged my smart phone when I have forgotten the night before.

Great Charger
This charger is a great way to charge two batteries without having to swap them out on a single charger base. This even has two USB charging ports for phones, cameras and anything that has USB charging ports. This charger also charges both old type and new type batteries alike. The charger also has two 110 volt outlets but they are not grounded so standard extension cords can't be used.
The charger does charge two batteries but they are charged one at a time. In other words once one battery is fully charged it moves over to the next battery. Once charged the charger enters a maintenance charge mode. This is something that other chargers don't always have. The batteries are placed in the charger from the top on this unit. Other chargers have a slant to them so placing and removing the battery from the charger is more of a hassle. You can load and unload this charger with one hand.
The front of the charger has lights that show what the charger is doing and if you have a bad battery.
Overall, anyone needing to charge many batteries during a day, this is the charger to get. I still don't get the 2 prong plug instead of the standard 3 prong…….

Wonderful idea and addition to any tool kit.
This charger is a wonderful idea and will be a much overdue addition to many a tool set by DIYr’s and contractors alike. As a former contractor, we would often have multiple chargers going at once and would have to keep attending to the batteries and chargers to keep them all going (time consuming, tedious and dangerous climbing up and down ladders to check on the batteries). With this charger, that wasted time will be lessened and the safety factor will improve. I wish it would have been an option when I was working in the field…
Anyhow, here are some specifics about the charger I noticed:
1. The batteries charge one at a time. Still better than a single charger because it automatically switches between batteries as they are charged which reduces the battery/charger babysitting time.
2. The two USB ports are a great addition as now cell phones and other USB devices can be charged at the same time.
3. The two pass through 110 AC plugs are another nice addition but be aware that they will only allow for a combined output of 10 amps.
4. As with all chargers, do not keep them in the hot, cold or exposed to weather.
5. Again, as with previous Ridgid chargers, this one has a temperature sensor for the batteries and will only charge them if they are goldilocks (not too hot/cold).
6. The Chord is about 6’ long and heavy gauge.
7. The light indicators for the battery charging give a clear indication of the status.
8. Charge time seems to be about the same as a single, dedicated charger.
9. It makes an audible click when it switches from charging one battery to the other but on a job-site, this will probably not be heard unless you are right there. An option for something louder would be better.
10. Worked with all of my Ridgid batteries including one that is several years old.

Good featured charger
I would have recommended this charger and I would have given it a 5 rating except for one big reason. It doesn't charge two batteries at the same time. It is a sequential charger. Even though it says dual it won't charge them at the same time. You can put two batteries on the charger and it will charge one and then automatically start charging the second battery when the first one is fully charged.
It has dual USB ports so you can charge your cell phone or other device on the job site. It also has two receptacles so you can plug other items in. On the side it has a reset button if the unit would start to overheat and can trip the unit and not ruin it.

FITS ALL RIDGID SLIDE BATTERIES
I would like to thank Ridgid for keeping all of their batteries the same size. All of my batteries fit all of my tools. I take that for granted. Then I talk to and work with friends and associates who use other brands and complain that they have to buy a whole new set of batteries and a charger for every new tool they buy because the old batteries don't fit the new tool. That's when I realize how spoiled I am and how significant that attribute is. Thanks Ridgid.
This charger fits right onto my charging wall. I have to keep lots of batteries charged so I was interested in this one because it charges two batteries, one at a time. The first battery charges completely before the other one begins to charge, spreading out the load when I charge several batteries overnight.
For convenience this charger also has two pass-through AC outlets on the front and two USB outlets for your cell phones, etc. As you can see in the picture, the charger has key hole hangers on the back for wall mounting. There are a lot of LED lights on the front to let you know the status of your charging, but all I really want to do is plug it in and place my batteries in the slots. The only lights I look at are the "CHARGING" and "DEFECTIVE". If it is charging, good, if the battery is defective, replace it.
It has built-in sensors for hot or cold batteries and will only start charging when the battery has assumed the proper temp. It also has a trickle feature, periodically restarting to ensure the battery is at it's peak state.
Once again Ridgid has developed a tool for the real world. This charger has all of the features we need to keep up in this cordless world.
