nice
I use cordless nailers for work so I am somewhat biased and critical of them. This 18V Ridgid cordless framing nail gun is an okay one. I like how it is not all that heavy or bulky compared to others which feel like a boat anchor. It seems decent enough quality in terms of durability, has some okay features like a rafter hook and belt hook. I was going to ding this in the review for not having a belt hook but I had overlooked it in the packaging. It does come with a good narrow metal one that will not slip out like some older brands with big fat ones that slip out and cause problems. It also has a non-marring tip and like most others you only get one strip of 21 degree nails in the magazine. Fair enough. Like most of the others this is decent for some light framing and installing 1X's, then this will serve you well. No battery or charger, so if you already have Ridgid 18V tools then this will work for you.

The striking head was off center and was bending nails and jamming. Took it to the tool repair guy at HD and he said i was holding it wrong. It bent nails for him also. Not to happy with it.

    Awsome Nailer
I was concerned about the off name brand, no reason...WOW! This is probably the 2nd BEST TOOL I've every BOUGHT! I charged the battery, nice LED indicator of the charge! I drove at least 400 1" 18ga staples on 1/4 charge. About 30 staples didn't penetrate all the way into the wood, due to knots, hitting other nails or hitting the 1" wire mesh I was attaching! Day two, drove another 400 1" 18ga staples through 1/2 plywood, into 2x4...VERY FEW bad staples! WOW!

    Nicely made
I got this to use when I rebuild my greenhouse. At least that’s the first project where I need a framing nailer. And since I don’t have any other Rigid cordless tools, I still need to get a couple batteries and a charger. And I’ll also need a bag to keep everything together, including whatever nails I end up buying. I can’t wait to get started on this project and see what other projects I’ll eventually come up with. This is very well-made though I can’t testify to how well it works – yet.

    No more air lines
The biggest benefit of this nailer is that its a easy grab when there's no air or electric available. Awesome for structure repairs to our barn. Its a great all around framer at a decent price for diyer's with one of the best warranties around...don't forget to register your tool. For professionals , the 21 degree angle is bulky and not easy to fit tight spaces. This uses the full head plastic collated nails so theres more scrap to pick up, not fun outdoors. And the clips are a quick and easy reload but you do end up with reloading often in comparison to paper loads. The rigid gun is heavy duty and kinda heavy at 11 pounds with the battery in, I wish they were able to get the bulky weight down but it is comparable to a air gun. But keep in mind this tool for sale does not include the battery so you need to provide your own battery and charger, I find the rigid batteries a little more costly than some other but there's usually a package deal online at homedepot.com. I have a few rigid tools and so far the batteries are proving very dependable and long lasting. I know the question will get asked, the one is made in China. Not thrilled about that but Rigid seems to have some good quality control over plus they stand behind their product with warranty. Besides I don't wanna know what it would cost uf made here.

    Good alternative to a compressor
First off I'm not a professional framer. However I do a fair bit of framing around the property. Whether it be temporary or building new stuff for the yard, chickens, shop, gardens, etc. I've used quite a few pneumatic guns on habitat for humanity sites and I'm not sure this is a good replacement for those, but definitely a good alternative for the DIY'er like me. The places I use this I often can't bring a compressor. It's too far from electricity. I would have preferred the 30 degree because that's what I'm used to but honestly the 21 degree is fine and hasn't bothered me. I also have a lot of other Ridgid tools and as such I have quite a few batteries. This has already proven to be something I wouldn't want to be without going forward. And with the lifetime warranty I won't have to.

    Awesome!
I was looking for a framing nailer, and since I had other RIDGID products that uses the 18V battery, this was the tool of choice for me. No need for air compressors, the battery works just as well, without the hassle of the hose. The sheer size and weight of the tool makes you know that the product was made well. This tool definitely gets the job done quicker and easier!

Super powerful and super easy to use
My Review for RIDGID 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 21° 3-1/2 in. Framing Nailer (Tool Only). I was pretty amazed at how easy this is to use. Loading is simple (although the directions leave much to be desired) and the tool really zips. It feels pretty heavy, but it packs a kick, so the weight is helpful. It is very easy to adjust the depth of the nail. The only assembly to the nailer is screwing in one screw for the belt hook.

    Super duty
The RIDGID 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 21° 3-1/2 in. Framing Nailer is a super duty piece. Very heavy and well made. I strongly suggest using this for commercial use o my. This nailer is more than enough and maybe too much for smaller home jobs. The battery slides in and the nails are easy to load in as well. Can be used for hours before needing a full charge.

Pro or DIYer the TOP RIDGID R098994B 18 Volt 21-degree Framing Nailer
RIDGID R098994B 18 Volt 21-degree Framing Nailer Having put myself through college in the late 60's as a rough framer. I have extensive experience slamming home those 3 1/2" framing nails with a hammer, and later with what seemed like and endless stream of pneumatic framing nailers. So, when I saw Ridgid was coming out with this 18-volt framing nailer I looked up the early reviews. I got a little worried when I heard it had a small magazine. Well, it seems Ridgid must have heard the something or the reviewers had a short-sighted view. When this nailer came it, I already had a fair inventory of 21-degree collated nails with plastic and paper retainers. I found this nailer out of the box took a pair of nail strips without any concern. That is a full 50 nails in the magazine which can get anyone moving in rapid construction. Oh, you might wish for the full 75 nail magazine of a pneumatic nailer if you were working on a stick-built rafter job. The good thing is it would be rare these days to not have trusses and possibly engineered lumber in those trusses and you will not be slamming that expensive building material in place. There really is no one who couldn't get a production job done in a professional manner with a 50-nail magazine. Even if you were doing a stick-built fence a 50-nail magazine is more than sufficient for any professional to work with. Ridgid included everything a professional will appreciate with this nailer. A gripping nose piece for production work, if you’re a “rapid driver” you get positive locating. When you need to toe nail, you get exacting placement. It only takes a second to feed the magazine, and you don't need to pull back and lock the follower to load the gun. The nails slide easily in the magazine and easily pass the follower as you load it. After your nails are stacked in the magazine you pull the follower back and it clears the installed nails. Then you just slide the follower up against the stack and it self-locks to the back of the nails. That intelligent slider makes loading nails faster than ever was able in days gone by. Again, the thought put into the engineering of this new line, makes what and how things "used to be done" a memory in the rearview mirror that actual slowed production down. It sounds like it couldn't be quicker, unless you had to do things the old way and now see the improvements. Looking back from here you really get bowled over with " If I could do then the way I can today ", boy would life had been easier! Believe me when I say, the way this brushless, lighter, easier than hauling a hose, or not having one pouch of cylinders and the other pouch nail strips to load, everything about this nail gun allows an easier day for the Pro or the DIY'er! Thanks, Ridgid for the innovations in every trade and every home repair or upgrade!

    Powerful nailer
The RIDGID 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 21° Framing Nailer is a powerhouse. I tested this nailer first using some scrap wood that I had on hand. I loaded two inch nails (the smallest size for this model) into the magazine. Although the nailer was fairly heavy, the recoil wasn't bad at all. One thing that I didn't realize though: Although no air compressor line is needed to be hooked up, the canister inside needs to be refilled with air pressure at some point.

Nice, Robust Nailer, and Good if You Don't Want to Use a Compressor
I have been looking for a framing nailer for a long time, though I tend to use my finish nailer a lot more often than I would have opportunity for a framing nailer. This unit is very heavy and robust, and seems that it will be able to take a pounding during my heavy-DIY work (I am rough on tools and tend to do rather large renovation projects, including framing and drywall, so tools get heavy use). I have a compressor but thought it would be interesting to try to cordless version, especially since I do not do framing too often. I have tried this with the 18V pack I already had, so far so good though the manual recommends a larger Ah rating.

    Great tool!
Ridgid 18 V Framing Nailer- Lives up to the Ridgid name for quality and easy of use. This nailer is very well built and will last a lifetime. Best part of course is no hoses. This will do 3 nails per second and 750 nails per charge. The unit is a bit heavy. 12 lbs with battery .It is a tiny bit heavy for me an older woman but hubs loves it and does just fine with it. Be sure to get the 4AH battery and charger when you pick up your nailer ! this works with 2 in- 3 1/2 in nails. 21 degree nails to fill the magazine. Will make any building job much faster!

The RIDGID 18V LITHIUM-ION BRUSHLESS CORDLESS 21° 3-1/2 IN. FRAMING NAILER (TOOL ONLY) is a very handy tool to have as part of your go-to tool list. It is used in instances where you are framing in new walls or building things that you won’t mind nail heads showing, it is not a finish nailer used for trim work around your home. It can drive plastic collated nails ranging 2in-3 1/2inches long, and is capable of driving 3 nails per second. You can set the depth of the nails using a scrap piece of your wood, making sure they are driven to your satisfaction. The air pressure tank can be refilled using your air compressor. It has a bit of weight to it, as do most larger tools, but is easy to use. All of the RIDGID 18v tools are completely compatible with each other using the 18v batteries. And they come with a lifetime warranty! That is a great feature. I used this nailer putting together a new platform for our new pool pump that needed installed, and it worked like a charm! I would definitely recommend.

Is very east to load nails into it and is very east to use as no cord in the way or to have to drag around, quick and easy to load the nails in. Even comes with a rafter hook so you can just hook onto a rafter, ready to use when needed and even comes with a belt hook if you want to hang from your belt. Also comes with a mode selector switch so you can just touch to surface and will fire a nail for faster nailing when doing a lot of it. Ok to start off I'm not a framer but am a retired cabinet maker and I do have occasional need for a framing nail gun, as they are faster and actually a better fastener than screws are in dimensional lumber, especially framing for which I have several projects lined up to use this gun for. I know that most framing nail guns are heavy by nature and this one is no exception it's about 12 lbs when you use it with the larger battery which is recommended. It's recommended because it not only takes a significant amount of power to run these but the balance is better with the larger battery. Despite the weight it actually doesn't feel that heavy but I suppose if you were to use it all day long or above my head for extended periods I might think different. I only ran it for a test in the manual mode and it can fire framing nails as fast as I could pull the trigger with no effort at all.It does say in the manual that it has a small compressor inside the gun that needs to be occasional filled for peak performance, which you can do from any small compressor that goes to at least a hundred pounds PSI. It says not to fill it over 125 PSI , but if you do it has a valve that automatically releases any excess beyond that and will close when complete, so it sounds pretty fool proof. I'm not sure how these are going to hold up under heavy usage and time will only tell but if it holds up even just fairly well then it would be a winner since it has, like no other framing nail gun does, the Rigid life time warranty, not including the battery though.I can't wait to use this in my up coming projects and in my book so far this is a real winner. So glad I have it my tool arsenal !

I received my Ridgid18 volt brushless 21-degree framing nailer; this nailer can shoot 3-1/2-inch framing nails. This nailer has some unique features, such as a small button below the trigger that lights up a LED that will give you the status of the nail gun (Normal, Low Battery, and jam mode) The nail gun has an easy upfront depth adjustment and a switch for a single shot or bump shot. The nail gun comes with a hex key clipped into the bottom of the nail magazine for maintenance. This nail gun also has an included belt clip and a built-in rafter hanger. Overall, this is an excellent tool for framing or building projects.

The Ridgid 18 volt Framing Nailer is great for use where an air line for a pneumatic nailer is difficult. I was surprised to see this nailer has an air valve for charging an internal air canister (see photos 5 and 6). The allen wrench to access the air valve was supposed to be included but wasn't in the box. The nailer comes with a rafter hook attached and also a tool belt hook that can be installed if desired. Driving 3 1/4" nails was successful through framing lumber. The nail magazine is shorter than most pneumatic nailers so reloading will be required more often. The battery capacity is stated at 750 nails per charge.

This is a great looking nailer and is well-made. It uses 21 degree nails, 2 to 3-1/2 inch long, minimum shank 0.113 in. and maximum 0.131 in., so common nails found on the shelf. It does come with a rafter hook and a belt hook. The no-mar pad is big and does a great job of protecting your softer wood. You can change from contact actuation to full sequential. Depth adjustment is quick and easy, mine was perfect out of the box for 2X6 pressure treated lumber. There’s a toe-nailing claw that helps prevent slipping. This nailer uses RIDGID’s popular 18v batteries. Installing nails is quick and easy, just drop them in at the rear of the magazine, Operation is fast from one nail to the next. I was surprised at how fast I could fire nails. This one seems easier to drive a nail straight down. Maybe it’s the big no-mar pad, but something is helping. It’s not a lightweight, but it’s not as heavy as I expected either. It sure beats dragging a hose, drop-cord and compressor around. All you need are a couple of charged batteries and nails. This would be great for your at home projects or even on-site for framing. It’s a great nailer that doesn’t break the bank and saves so much time. Read the manual and familiarize yourself with the nailer before using. It’s very easy to understand. Register your tool for the Lifetime Service Agreement. You can’t beat that.

This one is a beast. Ridgid's 18v brushless 21 degree framing nailer checks off all the boxes for me - excellent warranty, easy to load and adjust, oil-less, sturdy, and serviceable. If only someone could figure out a way to package this all in a lighter-weight package... with a 4AH battery it weighs in at 10-1/2 lbs. It makes up for the heft by shooting up to 3 nails per second. While it may take me a good long while to reach 50,000 nails, it's good to know that the air cylinder can be recharged without sending it in for service.

Defiantly a good tool to have if you are in the framing business. Easy to load and easy to use. Super easy to adjust the depth of the nail and reloads fast and easy. It defiantly weighs a little more than a air powered nail gun. But I guess that is the difference in having a air to drag around all day. The tool has a work belt hook and a fold out hook that hangs easily on any two by four on the hob site.

Another great tool from the industry's leading "LIFETIME FREE PARTS, FREE SERVICE FOR LIFE" is Ridgid Tool Company. The framing nailer is backed by a three-year limited warranty. One loading of the nailer of 33 (2"-3-1/2") nails on a collated strip with a 21-degree angle will produce a 750 nail drive with one battery charge using the MAX OUTPUT Ridgid battery driving 3 nails per second. A lot of thought went into the weight of the nailer at 9.1 pounds for minimum fatigue of the operator. Employs the brushless motor which gives tools an extended lifetime and performance. The 18-volt system is compatible with all Ridgid tools using the 18-volt system. The purchaser should remember to register the tool at http://www.register.ridgid.com or contacting the company at 1-800-539-1710 for the lifetime parts and service.

Don’t know how many times I’ve used a hammer to drive a nail in when working on various projects throughout the house and thought to myself, “man this would be way easier with a nail gun”. Well, I finally decided to pick one up from Home Depot and it makes life so much easier! The biggest struggle I was having is toe-nailing a 2x4 framed wall with a hammer. It would always knock the wall out of plumb. Now with the nailer there is no movement, just bam! And it’s nailed. Why did I wait this long. Rigid makes great products and this framing nailer is no exception. The angled 21 degree nail housing makes fitting it in to precarious spots easy peezy!

The Rigid 18V Lithium framing nailer packs a lot of punch. It drives 3 1/2" nails just as well as any pneumatic framing nailer that I have ever used. I only needed around 100 nails for the job I was using it for and the battery (not included) still had full bars after I was done. The nailer comes with all of the features that you would expect on a pneumatic nailer (depth adjustment, touch to fire or single fire switch, hanging hook etc.) but with the benefit of not needing to drag around an air compressor. It seems slightly heavier that my other 21 degree nailers but that's a small price to pay for the mobility this tool offers. The addition of this tool to my arsenal brings me one giant step closer to not needing power at jobsites! Great job rigid!

I like the fact that it accepts 2” to 3.5” nails. Being a petite woman, I can never use the belt hook because the tool would hang below my knees making it impractical. So I absolutely love the rafter hook. The tool comes with a lifetime service agreement but you have to register your product. It is easy to register your product, just have the product serial number and go to register.ridgidpower.com. The nail gun is easy to handle and has a great grip, so you know if you are working in the heat and your hands are sweaty you won’t drop the gun. There is an easy to use adjustment dial that allows you to change the depth of the nail (take a look at my pictures). I purchased the dual port sequential charger kit (Model #AC840094SB) which is a super buy and highly recommend as well. Based on my positive experience with this power tool and the lifetime warranty, I will be looking to purchase other Rigid tools.

This is a surprisingly competent framing nailer for professional use. This tool has a lifetime warranty as long as you fill out the required paperwork and register the tool. Definitely worth making time to do that! I was able to fully countersink 3-1/4” framing nails in typical hard framing lumber. You can select single fire mode for safety, or you can select bump fire mode and shoot three nails per second when sheeting a wall for example. No ramp up delay like other competitors make you deal with. Just pull the trigger and go. It even fully sinks with a smaller 2 amp hour battery. The belt clip is a nice touch. I’ll probably buy more of these. Highly recommend! Hope this helps.

The RIDGID 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 21° 3-1/2 in. Framing Nailer (Tool Only) is now my second Ridgid battery-powered tool and I like what I see. This nailer handles 2” to 3 ½” full-round-head nails and is advertised to shoot 3 nails per second; much faster than most anyone can do accurately. I have an upcoming project where I need to replace some exterior trim on my house. Using the traditional hammer is not only more difficult and time consuming, but also vibrates the walls requiring the removal of any wall hangings to prevent breakage. However, I did test out this nailer on a variety of wood. First, I shot 3¼” coated framing nails into a well-aged 4” x 4” pine. The gun did not hesitate in shooting them in to head depth. I then tried 2½” galvanized ring-shank nails (some of the toughest to pound in by hammer without bending) going through ½” plywood siding into 2”x3”” pine older stud. Once again, the nailer performed flawlessly, although I need to learn how to adjust the depth. I removed the no-mar tip and tried toe nailing with framing nails and the tool did the job. The magazine on the nailer is small but is suitable for DIYers. Ridgid makes an extension to hold two clips of nails. The nailer has a built-in ladder hook and the manufacturer supplies a belt clip, but you better wear suspenders to hold up the weight of the nailer. The nailer weight is 9.1 pounds per the manufacturer (without the battery) and that weight fits in with other battery-powered and pneumatic guns, but without the hassle of a hose and compressor. The tool seems well balanced and feels good in the hand. The brushless design delivers more power and extends battery life. The manufacturer suggests using a 3-amp-hour battery and the great thing is this tool accepts any Rigid 18-volt battery. The Lifetime Service Agreement with registration is a huge bonus and suggests to me that this tool is quality. Very recommended.

I had a framing project coming up and, since I'm already on the Ridgid battery platform, was ecstatic when I came across this 21-degree framing nailer! Since this works with all 18-volt batteries, it doesn't matter if you have a 3AH 18-volt battery or a 9AH 18-volt battery, it will power this nailer! Gone are the days tripping over an air hose or bearing with the excessive noise of an air compressor. This 21-degree nailer was able to sink 3-1/2” round head galvanized nails with no issue. There is even a tool-free depth adjuster at the tip of the tool if the nail sits too proud. For delicate projects, the no-mar pad is provided. For better visibility in tight areas, you can remove the no-mar pad and fire away. The rafter hook is robust and easily holds the tool in place. If you need to set the tool on the ground, you can turn the framing nailer upside down and the molds are formed in such a way that it allows the nailer to stand upright (see picture). The mode selector switch inside the handle area allows toggling between sequential actuation and contact actuation. The raised dots in the hand-held overmold area allows for maximum grip. Hard to imagine all of this fits so compact in your hands! I like the fact that this Ridgid framing nailer has the dry-fire lockout feature. This is helpful so that you don't get on a roll and nail things, only to find out that you ran out of nails 2 or 3 passes ago. This 21-degree Ridgid framing nailer made quick work of my project and was fun to use. I'm already working on my next project!
