The ordering process is a bit confusing, but you will get TWO batteries with this kit: 6Ah and 4Ah. Also, you get a bag. While the charger does come with the kit, I do not at all care for this new type of charger. It has a wall-wart, a large block that plugs into the wall. I understand that they optimize the charge bay to make it smaller, but the trade-off is a larger plug-in. No thanks. And when it's on sale, wow. What a deal. All parts qualify for LSA. I purchased a bare tool with this kit.

This is a powerful and long lasting battery. I was able to drill holes in cinderblock walls with my Rigid hammer drill for 6 hours of constant use! After that, I put the battery on the charger and it was charged within an hour, ready for another 6 hours of constant use. I really like the charger, not only does it charge batteries fast, but it also has indicators that make sense. A lot of the other brand chargers I have make you reference a chart or remember what a solid light means, what a blinking light means, what a green light means, what a flashing green light means, etc. This charger has an indicator with label for each status; as dumb as this sounds, its quite nice. The charger is also wall mountable. Overall, a great battery and charger set.

The 4.0ah battery kit is a great starter set if you are just getting into the Ridgid line up. I have batteries and tools from many different product lines like yellow, green, blue, and orange, but the Ridgid line is my favorite. This 4.0ah battery is especially great with the power hungry tools of Ridgid. I use it with their cordless vacuum and it runs about 16 minutes on this battery and charges in about 45 minutes or so. If you are picking up their cordless vacuum, pick this battery as well! I also use it with their brushless circular saw and get many rip cuts from it. The sander and router are also using a lot of power, so I go to this 4.0ah (over the 2.0ah) battery for these tools as well. I have 3 of these 4.0ah batteries and keep one of them always installed on the hybrid fan, and another on the hybrid folding panel light installed on top of my workbench. Both of these tools are also power-hungry and go better and go longer with a 4.0ah battery. I use my 2.0ah batteries on the drills and impact drivers though. The battery charges fast and holds charge for months when not in use. I love the Ridgid tools and a strong battery like this is a must have with their powerful tool line up!

Anyone who owns Ridgid tools know they are high quality and will last and last and last. This updated 4.0A Ah 18V battery and charger kit is no different and its a great addition to the product line.
My observations:
• This is their newly designed battery and fully compatible with your current 18V Ridgid tools.
• Because it’s ‘max’ output it will handle the heavier needs of some of the more power demanding 18V Ridgid tools.
• I noticed right away this is a smaller and lighter battery than my older 4.0 Ah batteries. I took a side by side pic to help you see the difference.
• Fuel gauge is bright and easy to see even in sunlight.
• I used the battery on a variety of Ridgid tools and received plenty of power and consistency.
• This kit comes with a battery charger. The charger can be wall mounted if you choose. It will also provide your normal readouts such as charging status, evaluate, Temp delay, and defective indicator.
• Also, regarding the charger this is a fast charger which is designed to charge the max output batteries quickly (less than an hour).
• The warranty is lifetime if you register it and follow the service agreement.
I have quite a few Ridgid tools and batteries that have been put through heavy use at times. I’m happy to say I’ve never had a tool malfunction or a battery. This battery met my expectations and I recommend.

Lacks protective rubber molding
**Ridgid, I would like to test and give feedback on your products**
The Max Output battery brings power(which is the most important factor in a battery), but has a key downside as well(this one lacks rubber molding). This is a big minus and starts to take a toll on hard plastic of the battery quite fast.
For this reason I recommend looking at older generation batteries from ridgid still readily available. Both regular and Octane batteries while Ridgid still carries them.
As of 2021 there is a sale on them for 120 dollars you can get 2 Octane 3AH.
No matter what battery you get from ridgid follow simple rules to extend its operational life.
1) avoid leaving them out in the sunlight unnecessarily.
2) store them in cool dry place. Manufacturer's guidance is 30%-50% charge for long term storage. Every 6 months "charge battery pack as normal."
3) lithium ion do better if not fully discharged and if not fully charged. Considering their purpose the latter is hard to achieve, but for prior - swap out the battery when its in the 20% of its full charge range.

I decided on the RIDGID battery solution because of the “Free Parts and Service for Life with Registration”. It sounds good, but I am still concerned that a new version of the battery will be created and the old ones will no longer be compatible with future products. At least for the meantime I have the peace of mind that if anything goes wrong with the current model, I have some recourse for resolution.
Some nice aspects of this battery solution is that the batteries are compact and have twice the power and up to three times the charge longevity of the 1.5 Ah batteries. They have a gauge that displays the power level. The charger has twice the charging speed as compared to the compact charger. They do have some weight to them as you would expect. Battery power type is Lithium Ion.
I am in the process of converting from corded to battery power as much as possible. I have a variety of battery powered hand tools which are very convenient. I have been using a corded electric string trimmer and edger for some time now. I like that they immediately run every time you press the run trigger without having to use a pull starter like with gas motors.
The only downside is pulling out the extension cord and then having to wrap the cord back up after using it. I know I might sound lazy, but at times I would go without edging/trimming because I did not want to hassle the electric cord. I look forward to replacing both of them in the near future with battery powered equivalents.

This new charger is great! I have the older charger and it takes more than an hour to charge the battery, this one does a battery in under an hour. Additionally, the indicators on this charger are so much easier to read and understand, no more looking up what the blinking lights mean. As a bonus you get a 4 AH battery. That is good for longer use, but I find it awkward with the balance of the drill.

Received my order for the RIDGID 18V LITHIUM-ION MAX OUTPUT 4.0 AH BATTERY AND CHARGER STARTER KIT recently and I wanted to share how we have used it. We were looking forward to the shipment as a committed user of Ridgid tools we have been pleased in the past with our battery based tools which have performed well. This new battery proved equal and provided additional performance as advertised even with our older Ridgid tools. We first used it with a drill and a sawzall for installation of a Closetmaid upgrade to the master bedroom. We specifically wanted to see if it performed as advertised and it did. No recharge needed for the closet project and then an outdoor project of cleaning up shrubbery.and tree limb storm damage. The resulting charge was as quick as advertised. We would highly recommend this new battery upgrade from Ridgid!
