      Answer This Question

A:  I think your best bet is to go online and download the manual. I can't locate mine at the moment but I seem to remember a discussion about the modes.

A:  Hello, Tazflowers - Thank you for your question. The setting refer to RPM not the amount of torque supplied. Auto Mode 0-2,800/min. (RPM). Low (1) 0-850/min. (RPM). Medium (2) 0-2,100/min. (RPM) High (3) 0-2,800/min. (RPM). Impacts per minute 0-3,800/min. Max Fastening Torque 200 ft.-lbs. Max Breakaway 225 ft.-lbs. I hope this helps! Q:Will it remove lug nuts on a tire
          by|Dec 10, 2022

          Answer This Question

A:  Not reliably. If you broke them loose by hand, you could then remove them then reinstall them with this. Then you would hand tighten them for safety. Unfortunately many repair facilities have inexperienced kids with high power impact wrenches who seriously over tighten them. The proper way is to tighten with a torque wrench.

A:  No, don't count on it

A:  I tried it for that purpose. Maybe close, but no cigar in my case. I also have the R86011 1/2" standard size/torque model (not the high torque full size), and that thing works great for lugnuts. I kinda feel like that one on high could even bust them off while tightening if I set it on full and kept at it, but I only set it on high for removing them. I use a lower setting for replacing them, then tighten with a torque wrench. If I didn't have a torque wrench, I'd still do the final tightening with a breaker bar by feel rather than go at it with the impact and maybe overtighten. I have quite a few Ridgid power tools, and so far I've been very happy with all of them.

A:  Yes, this tool works very well for this unless the lug nuts have been severely overtightened, in which case you might have to use a breaker bar first. I also use this tool, with a torque stick, to tighten the lugs after reinstallation. Big time saver!

                  by|Apr 17, 2023

A:  Depends on how loose your lug nuts are on. On most vehicles, no.

Have had over a year review
I’ve had this 3/8 impact wrench well over a year. Has held up very well. I use it and just about every day and so do my coworkers. Is good if you don’t need a lot of torque. My only complaint is the trigger as it has been getting older you can feel like there is grit in the trigger or a problem with it. Has not had a problem with performance of the tool. It would be nice if it had rubber around the trigger to keep stuff out of it.

My favorite tool. But improvement is needed.
I use this almost everyday. I carry it with me on my scooter Incase I need to change a belt and I have needed to... Is light and compact. It's so compact you almost always will need an extension and that leads to a problem. The retention on the anvil is a 2 out of 10. Just a socket will barley stay but as soon as you add even a 3" extension it will fall off. Makes it a real pain and cost a lot of time. Plenty of power but the retention ring is just not good.

Cool concept however quality just wasnt there
I was impressed at the size of this tool. I also like the multi modes it offers for speed and power. However I was let down on the overall quality of the tool. Unfortunately the tool came with two different colors. One side of the tool is a bright shiny orange and the other side is a darker brown orange color. That more than likely didn't effect the operation of the tool itself however I believe QC or someone missed this obvious issue and it doesn't scream good quality in my opinion.

Big hands may be a problem
Basically this drill is very well made, works like a charm, but, if you have large hands and thick trigger finger, it's likely that your trigger finger will often hit the direction buttons thereby shifting the direction of rotation to neutral or to counterclockwise or to clockwise. This is very aggravating and potentially dangerous if you're using your other hand to hang onto a ladder rung or elsewhere to maintain your position and/or balance. I put up with this one shortcoming for two years before switching to another cordless drill.

Im a tool snob and a professional user on industrial jobs. I needed this in a pinch. Even on a small 2.0 battery, this thing has surprising power and run time. I will definitely buy more Ridgid 18v. BTW the charger flashing is normal. Read the instructions. Its different from some other charger light indicators. Hope this helps!

This drill kit is great. I like how compact and light weight the drill feels. Its easy to use and holds a charge for many uses. I have used it for small projects around my house and will use it for hanging hurricane shutters.

Good powerful little impact wrench. The size of it literally surprised me. It is really compact and definitely packs a punch. I first used it with some 4 inch 3/8 lag bolts and it drove them in without a problem with or without a pilot hole. It actually surprised me when one lag bolt did not want to go in and actually snapped it in half. It definitely removed lug nuts from any of my vehicles from the work truck to the family SUV. It has basically four speeds. One of the speeds is really nice because it drives in the bolt but once it hits bottom it will stop so I can torque it and not over do it. I got some really good run time with a 6ah battery. I actually did not use it all driving in lags for a patio, remove tires, did some brakes and still had 2 bars. It’s a brushless motor which is very efficient. Even though this impact is smaller and doesn’t have the power of the big 1/2 inchers, for me I would definitely say I can do 90% of the jobs I need to do. I really like everything about this impact even its balance and weight. I believe it’s rated at about 250 foot pounds and I would say it’s probably close to that from the task I had to do. It never once overheated on me and is was atleast 100° outside. I really like the feel of it and you can definitely feel the impact hitting when you’re either removing or screwing in a bolt. The impact did feel a little close together not like others that I’ve used for the impact her a little more spaced but the power is there and that’s what matters.

I am very impressed with the Rigid 18V subcompact drill. The drill comes with a nice storage case. 2 batteries and a charger are also included, and can easily all be stored in the case. The batteries charge quickly and last a long time. The batteries have a light-up indicator on them that lets you see how much battery power they have left in them. The drill has a good amount of power and can fit in tight spaces. It has a 24 position clutch ring to adjust your torque and a built-in LED light to help illuminate your work site. I would definitely recommend this drill.
