AnswersI’ve bought many Ridgid tools over the years and never had a problem until a recent purchase. The online system rejected my registration. So I broke down and called Ridgid (1-866-539-1710), I opted for the call back when my # came up in the queue (which I’ve tried with other companies and it’s never worked. But I thought WTH, I wasn’t expecting much anyway. Well, I did get a call back from Larry G. who had a slight southern twang. I only mention this because I’m usually talking to someone where English isn’t their first language. Way to go Ridgid! Larry took care of all of my registration problems in less than 10 minutes. Bam and done. So give ‘em a call, you might be pleasantly surprised.

This is a slim lithium ion battery at 2 amp hours that powers all Rigid 18V tools and interchangeable with all 18V Rigid slide pack batteries. And with all slim slide pack batteries I get the power I need without the weight and bulk of the older batteries. This battery worked perfectly after being fully charged and powered my tool. What I like the most about Rigid is that their batteries are forward and backwards compatible. This battery seems like it lasted longer than my older Rigid battery - maybe because it was cleaner - LOL.

It is a nice compact charger. I do not have any problems with it at all. I like the slim-line light-weight . It fits in my large cargo pocket to and from work sites. Also, it is a fast charging unit for the recharged battery to be charged. It comes with plug in for the outlet, then put the recharged battery to be charged. It does not include battery.

RIDGID 18V 2.0ah battery is a great addition to your RIDGID tools line up or can make a great starter if you are new to RIDGID line up. I have many RIDGID tools and swapping and recharging batteries can get frustrating when you are in the middle of a project. The circular saw, router, sander, folding panel light, these use battery power aggressively and you may run out of juice in 30 minutes to an hour with these tools. I find it handy to have a second or third battery ready to go. I tested this 2.0ah battery with a brushless hammer drill and a circular saw and it provided enough power in both cases. It lasts a little less than 3.0ah battery and a little more than 1.5ah which often comes with drills. You can use this on all ridgid tools with no power problems. With the circular saw it can last 20-30 minutes also depending on the cuts, but with the drill it would last for days. It has a battery level indicator on it and it can tell how much left with the push of a button. I also like how it doesn't drain when not in use, so you can pick it up 6 months later and it is still ready to go. The battery comes with a 3 year warranty, and is backed by the quality and great customer service of ridgid.

A replacement battery for all Ridgid 18V Li-Ion Tools, this battery has some minor differences from the original which it replaces. It is slightly smaller and slightly lighter (1.6 oz.) than the original battery. Part of the weight saving, unfortunately, is the deletion of the rubberlike pad on the bottom of the battery case (convenient when placing the tool on a finished surface to prevent marring). It is compatible with all the Ridgid 18V Li-Ion tools and does not appear to sacrifice any performance (when used in a drill and impact driver). It does have a limited 3-year warranty should it prove defective and has internal protection against overcharging, overheating and/or overloading. Other than the deletion of the rubber pad (which also provided some degree of physical protection to the battery) this battery seems to be as good or better than the one it replaces.

I am very happy with the Ridgid 18 volt 2.0 AH Lithium-Ion battery. It is long lasting and gives great power while in use. I used this battery with my Ridgid Drill Driver while finishing my basement. This particular battery carries a three year warranty since it was purchased individually, not with a tool. Tired of guessing how much power is left in your battery? That no longer is a worry with the fuel gauge feature on the battery. This battery does not come with a charger, so that needs to be purchased separately. Another nice feature is the Triple Protection Electronics, which protects the battery from overcharging, overheating and overloading.

I'm a relative newcomer to Rigid power tools, I had been using a "yellow" brand previously, and found Rigid when I had to replace a battery and discovered the cost of a replacement battery was the same price as a Rigid battery AND a tool!
Now that I have several Rigid tools, I wanted to get a couple more batteries. The Rigid warranty protects you with replacement batteries, FYI. Now I needed a spare charger too.
This is a small, compact charger, it does the job. It is not a quick charger though, so don't be confused when your batteries doesn't charge fully in a few minutes.
It's easy to mount, it's light and it can easily fit in a tool bag just in case.

This RIDGID #R87002 is (as advertised) a 2 amp hour battery. Not going to last you all day in heavy use, they have 9Ah for that. What it is good/great for is us homeowners/faux handy people (PC). Nice light weight and has a somewhat smaller footprint but fits all their tools. This like many batteries has charge gauge, this one is easy to read and straightforward. It has protection from over-charging and comes with a 3-year limited warranty.
Battery does not come with a charger and is not shipped fully charged so if you don’t have a charger you’ll need to get with the same order. If you already have a charger it's good, if you don't well not so good.

Ridgid's new charger is definitely smaller than the older vintage which I have used for years. It also has some different characteristics that I was a bit surprised at. I have a Ridgid NiCd battery pack that just recently went bad. For some reason which I haven't taken the time to figure out, it will only charge to ~10V. My old changer tries to charge it, and it takes roughly 5-10 minutes before it gives up and flashes the "Bad Battery" code. The new one, from all appearances, won't even try to charge it. It just keeps the steady 'on' LED on, with no flashing or any other indication that it was attempting to charge it or test it. It makes me wonder if I completely discharged another pack if it would refuse to charge once the voltage got below a certain point even though the pack was OK. Except for this, it has charged my NiCd and Lithium batteries without issue. I don't sense that it's any faster than the old one; if it is, the difference is minimal. I do like the ability to mount the charger on a wall, although I think there would be a tendency to pull the charger loose as you removed the battery once the charge was done.
I did notice that the Ridgid website does not yet recognize the code for this charger when I attempted to register it.

This battery is a lower cost, simpler (design), lighter and more compact version of the current 2 amp-hr battery (840086). The case design has been simplified which results in a slightly smaller, lighter and less costly battery, while maintaining 2 amp-hrs of capacity. It's a simpler two piece case vs. the multiple piece case on the more expensive battery. The look is more svelte and less "Transformer" like. There are two less screws holding the assembly together. However, the sticky rubber pad on the bottom of the 840086 battery is eliminated in this design. When using this battery with tools that rest on the bottom of the battery, they will tend to slip/slide on the surface much more. Additionally, the smaller footprint (and lighter weight) will tend to make tools more tippy.
The "Fuel Gauge" switch ands LEDs are replaced by a membrane assembly that includes the switch. In my experience plastic membranes can fail earlier than other switch designs, but this switch may last longer than the battery cells themselves. Otherwise, the new design appears sturdy.
This battery is about 1/4 inch smaller in the longest dimension than the 840086 battery, and by my wife's cooking scale, it weighs about two ounces less. Surprisingly to me, this lower weight noticeably improves the handling of my Ridgid cordless drill and impact driver.
I give four instead of five stars due to the elimination of the rubber pad on the bottom of the battery. However, if this is of little concern to you, then the reduced cost and mass of the battery make it a good choice.
