Q:I would like to know the real dimensions of the Rigid NXT 12 and 14 gallon wet/dry vacuums.
On the net the 12 gal. is BIGGER than the 14 gal.
IE: 24x24x24 vs. 20x22.5x22.5.

Be careful - the latches/handles snap off!
I purchased the 10-gallon stainless WD1060 vacuum. I was handing the vacuum down from an attic opening with my friend below. The vacuum had bacteria (Zoogloea) laden water inside as I have just sucked out an air conditioner drain line that was completely clogged. As I was lowering the vacuum down through the attic hatch, with my friend holding the vacuum from below, the plastic latch/ handles gave out and the drum crashed down onto the stepladder, tilted over, splashed the contents (which is fairly disgusting) all over my friend and then down onto the hallway carpet. Quite the disgusting mess and my friend drenched.... Looking at the design of the handles, it is VERY easy for the handles to pop off of the very small round plastic pins when there is some weight in the drum. The handles do not lock in on the pins (they slip on) and look like they are designed more for easy assembly at the factory than ensuring something like what happened to us doesn't ever happen. I probably had two gallons of water in the vacuum, so not that heavy, but not that light either. Very disappointing design. I modified the handles by drilling a pilot hole into the round pins and adding a washer and screw to lock in the latches. After adding the screws I filled the drum with water up to the vacuum hole and I could lift the vacuum by the handle securely. The latch/handle is OK being plastic, but the other parts should be metal. I have added pictures of how I added the screws. I used 3 drill bits to make the hole to make sure I didn't split the plastic.

I have been unable to get the light to stay on without keeping my finger on the button. It appears to have a lock function for the light but it doesn't keep the light on without keeping a finger on the button. The light isn't very bright either. I found myself not using this much, instead favoring the other tools that came with the RIDGID 14 Gal. 6.0-Peak HP NXT Wet Dry Vac with Auto Detail Kit, Oranges/Peaches purchased, which is a huge upgrade to the 20+ year old 5 gal Shop Vac I replaced.

What a nice cleaning attachment.....The RIDGID 2 1/2" locking LED lighted car nozzle is a must have if you own a RIDGID shop vac. This is another great addition to the RIDGID family of products.....The product itself takes two replaceable CR 2016 batteries for the LED light which is very powerful and lasts a long time. In my photo's I took the unit apart so you could see they are replaceable and the batteries can be found at your local Home Depot. The nozzle itself is made of a high impact resistant plastic and a 21/2" locking system. If you don't have one,you don't know what your missing,makes a big difference in cleaning in places with no light or low lighted areas.

We just went through and thoroughly washed and vacuumed our car for sale. After spending a while upside down vacuuming under the seats, while trying to hold onto a flashlight at the same time, this would have been wonderful to have!
A little LED light that provides just enough light under the seat or up under the dash to make it a lot easier to see what you are doing.

I can tell this is a quality product from inspecting the overall design. There really were no instructions, except a stuck on label that said TRY ME, which I did. I love that it is a locking tool because having it fall off in awkward places is a nuisance, in my opinion. I like the light-feature also, and when clicked into position, it stays lit. I haven't had any reason just yet, to open the nozzle and inspect the battery compartment. This area is conveniently located at the very top of the nozzle, so it's quite easy to get to. Knowing that it is a LED light was enough for me. Having the light on while vacuuming my car and truck was good enough for me. Well designed, and snaps on and locks without much effort. This new LED lighted car nozzle is much appreciated, and makes my vacuuming chores that much easier. Looking forward to many years of continuous usage. Another distinct advantage is that it works on wet or dry surfaces.

This Shop Vac car accessory fits perfect without an adapter to swedge down the size and it slips on and off very easily. It helps to see the dirt better with the light. The size does not restrict the air flow or suction power. The light does not make the nozzle heavier than a nozzle without a light. I would highly recommend buying this lighted nozzle.
