Questions & Answers

Do you think this would hold up well to traveling on a commercial airliner?

Just curious if you think this would hold up to the abuse baggage handlers give to bags on a commercial airline. I would like this to replace my Pelican branded cases.
Asked by: StoneyBaloney
What a stupid question! Yes, of course it would! it's made stronger than all the baggage/suitcases they toss in and off the planes.

I just purchased the three piece set for $99. It's a Fathers Day sale.

Price has skyrocketed?

I have been planning on investing on this pro box set. The price has been 59.99 for some time and now today the price has risen over 3 times as much to 199.99. Is that a pricing error? Doesn't make the entire system appealing at all when the basic cost of these have gone up in multiples over night from where is has been advertised for the last year almost. Will the prices for the other boxes triple soon too?
Asked by: Kraftwerksman
Could it be possible that you were looking at the price for the 3-piece stack set ? That price is sometimes listed at $199. The bottom box, by itself, is typically in the $60 range. By the way, I personally went to several stores and compared this box to the competitors and the quality of the Rigid product is, by far, superior to that of the competition. Yes, it is a bit pricier but the overall feel and structural integrity of this box made me choose quality over price.

How well does the set go up and down a flight of stairs?

Do you have to take it apart to go up and down several steps? Can you control the unit with one arm or will it take both arms to control the unit when maneuvering steps? I am a therapist going between multiple school buildings and I am looking for a good solution for transporting and locking my supplies and materials between sites. Stairs are involved on a daily basis.
Asked by: jam
they DO go up and down stairs. BUT, my answer to this question is what led me to post my new question. My answer - they are a PAIN to go up and down stairs. they do go up and down, but being that the wheels are solid, they crash against each step, they are not smooth like a hand truck wheel, which is Pneumatic. a Pneumatic wheel would allow for it to be more flexible, and bounce more comfortably, as it landed on each stair. THUS, I've posted a new question, about where to find Pneumatic 7 inch wheels, let's see if anyone answers that question

We used them to house the wiring for the Security Scanners at the Washington Redskin Stadium. (Fedex Field) This way, when the game is over, the lions share of the wiring can be wheeled away in a storage closet. See attached Pic

Bought on black Friday a few years ago as a package set and I have used this set everyday without any breakage. The rigid silk screen on top easily scratches off but other than that this a great product. It's so good when I saw it in a package deal this year for black Friday I ordered it for my brother for Christmas.

Perfect.

I bought this along with the Pro Organizer and the Pro Toolbox, having all three makes for the perfect tool rig. Pros: + Extendable handle for pulling + Lockable latches + Comes with security bar to insert through all three pieces in order to lock them together + HEAVY DUTY resin makes this thing nearly indestructible + Water and weatherproof Cons: - The wheels do seem pretty cheap, I don't transport mine more than a couple times a month and it's always on smooth surfaces and after 6 months the wheels are already wearing down significantly. I would not consider this to be a make or break deal, however.

I've owned the Ridgid cart and the two matching upper boxes for over a year now. I'm still impressed with this clever tool box system. Loaded up with my heavy tools the cart wheels roll over dirt and pavement with relative ease. I see now that Milwaukee makes a similar tool cart set that sells for twice as much as I paid for the Ridgid tool cart set so I'm even more pleased with my purchase. Thanks to the many handles it's easy to secure additional tools or hardware to the top boxes. Definitely exceeds my expectations.

A few years ago I purchased all four of the items in this set: the Pro Gear Cart, Pro Tool Box, the Pro Organizer, and the Pro Box, and I love them. I use them to hold all of my firearm cleaning supplies, gunsmithing tools, and parts. They have held up excellently. The solvents from the cleaners have not bothered them. They stack and lock together and you can lock them all up with a padlock (except for the milk crate). They are tough and hold up to anything I have thrown at them. I really recommend them highly.
