Hello bikeboatski, We don't recommend using compressed air because we don't know what nozzle or at what pressure you would use. The preferred method is knocking the filter to loosen the debris or lightly washing it and letting it dry before using it again. If you really want to use air, the volume or pressure of air exiting the blowing port on the vac would be safe to use. If you have more questions or you need assistance, you may call our Customer Service at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time and we'd be glad to assist you. Thanks, RIDGID

The length measure from the inside of a pipe usually side to side.
This fits the Ridgid 4 gallon, 5 peak HP, portable vacuum.. I do not know about the 3 gallon. On the id stamp on your vac, it should state which filter. If not, the Ridgid webpage will tell you which filter you need. Though the ad at the top of this page says it will fit 3 gal. portable. Good luck...
The best way to get one is to order it online from Home depot. I got mine pretty fast. Mr .G
Yes I just bought this last week. It is a easy job. The thing is on a hub and doesn't turn or move. It only can work by pulling off the old filter and putting on the new one. At least that is the way for the VF3500 for the 4 Gallon Rigid Vacuum.
No, and it is not recommended. I believe you would need to use the VF3700 for wet applications. The VF3500 can be washed, but must be dried thoroughly before being used again. That is why I have at least two on hand.
