    This filter is for fine dust. However it is not suitable for ash from fire place, wood or pellet stove as it will plug immediately.

    The Home Depot has several Ridgid filter options depending on your needs. Look up VF4000, VF5000, VF6000, VF7000. You would likely need VF4000 for Sawdust and general debris.

    It will shorten the life drastically. There is no reinforcement on the inside and the filter nearly collapses. One of the layers on the inside partly washed off. If you want to wash filter get the Gore.

    If you have this model RIDGID 5 Gallon STOR-N-GO Wet/Dry Vac Model Number WD55000, the owners manual calls for filter VF4000. The Home Depot has filter options depending on your need, VF4000, VF5000, VF6000, VF7000. This Blue Filter is the VF5000.

    I have used this filter to clean up drywall dust in my Rigid shop vac over the last 4 years. This filter has worked great for this application. It is easy to install. This filter has met my expectations and there isn't anything that I dislike about it.

    The RIDGID model VF5000 fine dust wet/dry vac filter works wonderful. I've rinse and let the filter fully dry for reuse once so far. The QwikLock fastening makes it super easy to install and remove from the filter cage, so no more using a filter plate nor screw nut. I have used the filter for many drywall and sawdust clean up. It's very functional!! The filter fits 5-20 gallon wet/dry vac. Very easy to install into your wet/dry vac.

    Ultimately no, I would recommend this one for what I was doing. We decided to scrap down all the popcorn off the ceiling, which generated a ton of dust and debris. Vacuuming all the debris up with our Rigid vacuum was easy, however dust was still leaving the exhaust port. Opt for the more expensive filter if you want to trap all the dust, so your not dusting for a next year.

    This is a replacement for the old paper filter. Having had this type of filter before, I couldn't do without. The washable feature is what I was really after.
