jobmax head is garbage
I have been using the tool quite intensively and the changing lever failed me in less than 1 year. Now I cannot change the blade. Don't waste your money there unless you use the tool rarely for minor home owner work.

    well worth the $$
Made my hardwood floor repair not only possible but fairly easy. I can see this tool becoming a go too favorite in tight situations!! If it doesnt last so be it. I will buy another as needed!

overheats fast, leaking and gear issues.
Bought this multi tool a week ago from today to redo my grout and all of a sudden it started to overheat fast and spill this black stuff from the head and today the last gear stop cutting when i press the trigger all the way down. Very disappointed with this tool brand. I think $100 was a rip off.

        Storage bag problem
Good tool but throw away the storage bag that comes with it. The didnt make it long enough and it bends the wire so bad when you zip it shut that the cord eventually will break and you will have to replace it or repair it. Its happens twice to me, once on this tool and my ridgid sawsaw....same problem with its bag.

The only negative about the Multi-Tool is that the Sandpaper Triangle pad (not the sand paper) did not last long around the edges. The sandpaper slides off of the triangle piece. When I used the sander, the pad got very warm. I noticed that there are no holes in the trianle piece nor the sandpaper. This may keep the pad from getting too warm subsequently allowing the sandpaper to work better. I have used this MultiTool one time.

Great tool. Only problem is that if you had to grab the back of the unit it gets hot. Does a good job cutting nails and wood using the first time. Being a RIDGID tool love the lifetime warranty.

This is one of the best tools I have seen. If you have ever tried to cut sheetrock with a saw you know the choking dust created. This little gem will do the job and create no dust. It will also cut flush with the floor and around the door. I don't know how I ever functioned without it. It makes a lot of tasks so much easier. You can cut perfect square holes in the middle of a piece of plywood or sheet rock. I highly recommend this tool for your tool chest.

I haven't had a chance to use this tool other than to check it out and get a feel for it. In the picture you see the corded power source with the newly designed multi-tool head attached, in its bag. Next to it are the other JobMax tools I have. I have the pneumatic JobMax power source and the five other heads. I have used that version extensively. All the heads fit both power sources. I purchased the corded version for 2 reasons: one, the new multi-tool head has a tooless blade change where the old one I have requires using an allen (hex) wrench and spinning the screw while trying to hold the blade in the right position and hold the tool too, is a pain; two. the pneumatic version has to be used around my detached garage. Using it in the house requires running a long air hose through an open door. The corded version feels lighter and is very comfortable to hold. The led light in front of the trigger is very nice. I have had the corded unit only a couple of months, but the pneumatic version for quite a few years. I have no affiliation with any tool manufacturer or retailer, I just really like this tool.

I got this device late this summer/fall. It took me a while to decide what device I wanted to go with. I had a prior experience with another brand of this type tool only lasting a couple years then failing. As a DIY person I did not want to spend >$150 on some of the other tools like this. I considered the cordless version of this, but then decided against it. The main thing with this I liked is that the heads can change, I may not even used, but this feature also means that I can flip attachments around in 90 degree increments. I was unsure if I would use, but seemed like could be handy. I have already used this ability many times to get in certain areas, make it more ergonomic to use, etc.

This thing is a beast. I needed to cut about 40 pieces of engineered hardwood flooring that were already installed in our basement, and this multi-tool was perfect for the job. It comes with a handful of attachments. I only used a couple of them, but they worked well. You can see from the picture that this flooring was glued down to my slab. My only complaint here (and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars) isn't actually with the tool itself but with the replacement blades. They are crazy expensive. I think the cutting blade was $14.99! I ended up going through 4 of them to cut the flooring. That's probably excessive for most DIY jobs. On the plus side, this held up really well and did the job perfectly. No complaints.

Came ready to rock in the box, lots of included blades and a sanding pad. I bought this over others because of all the different heads you can put on the motor. Jigsaws, reciprocating saw, right angle drill, etc I feel this will be a great addition to my toolbox! Plus the warranty can not be beat! I can even get a cordless or air powered base and put these heads on them. Great system!

Worked good for awhile, but it would get very hot . It failed after a couple of dozen uses. I tried to return it to Lowes but they said I would have to contact Rigid. I never did because of the hassle it involves. It requires expensive blades but does a good job in manny areas. Cuts drywall easy, soft woods ok, slow and hot on hardwood. Metal ok but blades don’t last.

JobMax 4 Amp Multi-Tool with Tool-Free Head Since I already owned all of the JobMax heads for my 12-volt Ridgid Multi-Tool, this seemed like a no-brainer purchase for a rather annoying task of multiple cuts in a double-stud wall. The portability of the 12-volt is great, and I was tempted just to grab the 18-volt, but instead I opted for this AC powered tool with the THRUCOOL technology. It performed as expected-- although I question the THRUCOOL technology as it seems to transfer most of the heat to my hands. That is not a show-stopper as under a load all of these tools will heat up and I was not really expecting anything different. I ended up using about three of the heads for the project and all performed well. This a more powerful tool than the 12-volt tool (obviously) and will likely be used more than the 12-volt when I have AC available. The grip is completely different between the 12-volt and AC tools-- the AC in some ways affording more leverage. I had no issue registering for the lifetime warranty.

This tool help save us alot of time when we were laying down laminate flooring. We were able to easily cut the bottom of door frames so the laminate could slide right under. Going to be using it to remove vinyl flooring in the kitchen next.

I have to say "No" to recommending because there isn't a "Maybe". I started using the sander and the sanding pad bent and came apart, see picture, I have sanded less than 30 minutes in total. I guess the engineers did not consider the vibration of the tool when designing this attachment to be made in aluminum.

As the owner of the previous model I was not sure about if they improved it enough to make it worth upgrading. But the new tool less head and more powerful motor along with the Ridgids new year promo of a free head with purchasing a tool sold me to give it a try. The new head is very nice. Now I wish I had them for my older models as well. I can note more power from this head with the cooler running design as well. Way to go Ridgid. Well done

Purchase corded JobMax Aug 6, 2016 in anticipation of a bathroom remodel that I was going o start at Thanksgiving. Used the JobMax for 4 days and it ceased to work. Took it to the Ridgid repair center 30 miles away and received a call today that the parts will not be available until February. February! I need the tool now. Asked why I can't be given a refurbished but that is not an option. I have to go and purchase another multi tool and it will not be a Ridgid product! Unfortunately I purchased every head for the tool. Very frustrated. Do not buy.

Nice tool and plenty of power. Has 4 degree arc with yields higher performance though not as precise. LSA registration is not an issue. You search the model # on your receipt, select it and enter 1 or more serial numbers as appropriate (if it came with an extra part like the head on this one) and then submit and wait. I submitted it at 4PM Saturday (yesterday) and it was approved 9:30AM Sunday (today). See pics. For a tool I won't be using allot nor do I have other tools using the same style battery packs, I will always prefer the corded version. Batteries that sit and never get cycled seem to go out quicker in my experience. To the above point, the reason I went with this above all others including Dewalt is that they actually put some thought into the ergonomics and tool-less operation. The grip-ability on this thing is great. You can't go wrong with it because other manufacturer blades will fit it. For me, the tools isn't really expensive and it's the blades that will rob your wallet. Why lock yourself into a proprietary setup like a few of the other brands do?

I was debating between Dremel and this item from Ridgid for multi tool mainly to cut open drywall in my house. It was a bit cheaper than Dremel and like the Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA) in addition to warranty that it comes with. Registration for LSA is a bit hassle but it's registered now so if something happens to this tool should be covered. So far things seems working pretty good. Downside is that it feels a bit heavy but pretty sturdy and powerful tool. I would recommend to someone who want to spent not so much and have a tool to get the job done.
