Product Overview

RIDGID's 18-Volt 9 Gal. cordless wet/dry vac takes cordless convenience and puts it in a full sized form. Cordless power is perfect for car cleaning, jobsite debris or anywhere that's away from an outlet. Its performance rivals its 9 Gal. corded counterpart, and with the option to use 2 batteries (sold seperately), you can effectively double the runtime you'd expect from other cordless wet/dry vacs. Its full-sized design lets you run continuously without having to stop and empty frequently. Included hose and accessory storage means this unit compactly stores in the home or garage. Replacement filter VF4000 and replacement dust bag VF3503, both sold separately.
  • Provides pickup performance of a corded wet/dry vac
  • Traditional 9 Gal. drum size holds more mess and is more durable than other cordless units
  • Can run using 1 battery but accepts 2 for longer runtimes

  • On-board hose and accessory storage makes the vacuum easy to carry, transport and stow
  • Compatible with RIDGID 18-Volt battery models (sold separately) - R840083, R840085, R840086, R840087, R840088, R840089, R8400806, R8400809 (sold separately)

Love the vacuum. Plenty of power especially with some 9ah batteries in it last forever. Has more power them my corded shop vac. And I dont have to worry about cords. It would be sweet though if they did make it a hybrid vac. Love that option.

Really like this vacuum but be aware it is the vac only so if you don’t have the Ridgid battery and charger already it will cost much more. I unfortunately didn’t realize this so I had to invest. But I am glad I did because I’m truly impressed with this vacuum. It’s so lightweight, easy to drag around and has great suction. Picked up everything I wanted in my garage so I brought it through the house and with that crevice tool it did wonders. I will say that the casters install was atrocious, just like other reviewers said. They should just come pre-assembled. I jammed my finger on the first one and used an oven mitt to protect my fingers on the rest! It has this great feature of a blower on the backside which will come in handy. It also has several attachments. The only downside would have to be the actual battery runtime. I was only able to buy one 4.0 battery (recommendation is. 4.0 plus a 2.0 for extra runtime) so I only got 13 minutes. Not great but do-able if your area is prepped and ready. Perhaps I’ll keep a lookout for another battery on sale. Otherwise, it’s a must have tool not only for your garage/workshop but for your home too. It’s a somewhat big investment but worthwhile. Would have given it 5 stars if the battery and charger were included.

This review is for the Ridgid 18-Volt 9 Gal. Cordless Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum. I already have a corded shop vacuum but I really like the idea of a cordless vacuum to allow me the ability to move around without having to roll up a cord. This vacuum has a large capacity with the convenience of being easily portable. I comes with several accessories including car nozzle, utility nozzle, wet nozzle and extension wands. There is an optional dust collection bag that is not required but sold separately for vacuuming fine dust. This vacuum does not include a battery so if you don’t already have at least one of the required Ridgid 18 volt batteries you will need to purchase one separately. Fortunately I already had one for a reciprocating saw and it works fine with the vacuum. With the exception of the wheels, this comes ready to go out of the box. The wheels simply snap on to the bottom of the vacuum. Once you assemble the wheels, the vacuum is ready to go. There are two battery sockets on top which allows you to increase the run time if you choose to use two batteries (of course you would have to have or purchase two batteries). I was unsure what sort of suction a battery powered vacuum would have but I was pleasantly surprised with this unit. The suction is definitely not as good as my corded shop vac but it’s still very respectable. There’s also an outlet that allows you to use this as a blower in addition to a vacuum. I haven’t yet used the vacuum extensively but my only complaint so far is the battery life is fairly short when using one battery. I’m sure the battery life would be considerably better if I had two higher capacity batteries and I might buy them at some point. I’m impressed with the performance of this vacuum and I love the portability.

This thing really sucks..but in a good way This wet/dry vac is impressive. It has the same power as the corded models but without a cord and offers some other design improvements.Overall I was really satisfied with the performance and design of this shop vac. Below I am including the pros for the shop vac, things to consider and things that weren't cons to the vac but were not as important as the pros. Pros Carrying handle is better placed (to balance the load) than older models Hose more flexibility at each end than most other hoses Orientation of motor and canister align easily and tightly Switch is larger and improved Battery life is pretty good and batteries are not used in parallel to power unit. Meaning you can use one battery to power the unit if you want, the second battery just gives additional run time. Neutral Blower at the back is great for light work Standard attachments are included 12 seconds to suck 5 gal bucket of water Battery terminal connection is tight, this might get a little looser over time or it might be my batteries so other may not experience this same issue. Same amount of noise Other Considerations Capacity is 5 gal not 9 gal (5 gallons comes to the bottom of the hose port) Because there is no cord, power to the unit cannot be controlled by a switch (router table switches are designed control power to the router and shop vac), be nice if there was a remote to start in stop the unit. There is no drain or plug on the canister for water/liquids to be emptied The motor cannot attach to a 20 or 50 gallon Rubbermaid brute trash can Bottom line is if you are already in this platform and looking to move to cordless then get this shop vac.

I got this to add to my ridgid power tool collection I do have a smaller corded vac we use to clean out the chimney but it can never be used for anything else. I used this to vacuum out our cars and it did a great job at the local car wash I would have spent over 20 bucks to get them vacuumed this saved me time and money. This machine has a place to store all the the extra pieces . As for putting it together the wheels are fitted into a plastic molded feet that are inserted onto the machine. The directions are to insert the wheel into plastic foot while on the floor. I could not do it I used my vice which took seconds that said the rest was a piece of cake.

Nice power, easy to assemble! A rose with just a thorn or two. The hardest part was the casters; you have to tap them in a few times with a rubber mallet. You can't push them in. Two batteries provide sequential power. I have the Octane batteries with a double charger and a word about that. If you want cordless tools, you must invest in batteries (yes, more than one) and a dual charger. Expensive, but part of the cordless plan. I vacuumed my cars. I got a solid 20 minutes from one battery, then switched to the other to do the garage. Nice! The instructions are good enough but there is no part list. For example, instructions mention dust filter bags as in how to install them, but nowhere is a part number (I found it after a search: Rigid VF3503 2-pack); the dust bags are a must for concrete dust, cold wood stove ash, etc. so the dust is not blown back out into the air. This type of vacuum invites itself to collect dust, dirt, and debris. It is not a household vac so it performs differently in that it needs filters cleaned, dust bags changed and this means planning ahead to have a few filters and dust bags up on the shelf. The regular paper filter numbers are outside on a sticker on the vacuum's head. Cordless=convenience. 9 gallon capacity is all you need (remember, you have to lift it when it is full). It really performed well, it is light, and with a small storage footprint. What I noticed was the tools (crevice, etc. along with extension wands) were loose-packed in the box and were rattling around when the delivery person handed me the box. The head has an outlet meaning you can connect the 1 7/8 hose to that end and blow out your leaves and dirt in your garage. I used dish soap to make the hose end easier to fit into either end- intake or exhaust-because of a really snug fit. The hose is stored in side clips-kind of OK storage, but no places for tools to snap in or onto to for storage. You have to carry those in one hand and the vacuum in the other. It is so nice having the convenience of a cordless vac. My charger is up on the wall, out of the way, and the vacuum is stored in a corner for ready use. I am pleased with it; I recommend it.

CORDLESS; ACCESSORY STORAGE; SHORT RUNTIME — The best feature of the RIGID 18-Volt 9 Gal. Cordless Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum (Tool Only) is that it is cordless which makes it easily portable for wherever you need to use it. It is especially handy for vacuuming a vehicle where an outlet may not be readily available, and you do not need to deal with cords or extension cords. A crevice tool would help for vacuuming a vehicle. I only have one 2.0 Ah high capacity RIGID battery; using it for seven minutes exhausted the battery power. I assume the runtime will be greater with two batteries. The product is not easy to assemble by following the instructions. Several of us could not press the casters into of holders. We needed to use a rubber mallet to install them. The accessories do not fit into the extensions easily. It is great how the vacuum holds the hose and accessories although the hose does not fit on as nicely as it shows in the manual. See the photo. It has a huge drum which is easy to open and empty. Since the runtime is short, such a large drum may not be necessary. The wheels and tug-a-long hose make it easy to move over a hard surface. It picks up debris OK but not as well as my smaller corded vacuum. It does not work for vacuuming rugs. It can also be a wet vac but we have not tested that function. Having to recharge the battery after seven minutes of use negates much of the advantage of it being cordless. I would not recommend this shop vacuum unless you have two batteries.

It does what it says, now you are not going to vacuum up 1 hour of debris at a time, if you are then you might want to consider a plug in. This is for home jobs not construction site clean up.
