Q:I recently purchased a Ridgid 9 gallon shop vacuum from Home Depot. Why doesn’t the vacuum include hardware to attach the feet to the bottom of the vac? The snap in feet don’t stay in place and fall out. I had to drill holes and put in screws. Nuisance!

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Richard, Thank you for writing us a review, and we apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced with your Ridgid 9-gallon vacuum. The feet on this model are designed to snap into place without screws. If they are not staying secure, it can be helpful to use a rubber mallet to ensure a attachement. We understand that this can be frustrating, and we appreciate your patience in dealing with this issue. The screws included in the package are intended for attaching the top carry-handle, not the feet. We’re sorry for any confusion this may have caused. If you have questions or concerns, you may call us at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time or send us an email at info@ridgidvacs.com and we'll be glad to assist you. Thanks, RIDGID

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Matt, Thanks for your inquiry about our product. While we don't currently offer a specific blower attachment, our product is versatile enough to meet your needs. You can easily use it for blowing purposes by simply attaching the hose to the exhaust port of the vacuum. This method is effective and has been successfully used by many of our customers. If you have questions or concerns, you may call our Customer Service at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time or send us an email at info@ridgidvacs.com and we'll be glad to assist you. Q:how do you make the vac a wet vac? it is NOT sucking water up???
      by|Aug 3, 2024

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello kkmc, Thanks for your inquiry. We would like to ask what kind of water were you picking up. If you are picking up clean water, the pleated paper filter can be removed. When picking up small amounts of liquid the paper filter may be left in place. Please note that when the filter becomes saturated, misting may occur at the blower port. The wet filter VF7000 is sold separately, this adds protection for your vacuum during wet pick-up by keeping water-borne debris out of the motor. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800- 474-3443) or you may send your email to info@ridgidvacs.com Regards, RIDGID® Customer Support

        Answer This Question

A:  Dear mike, Thanks for your inquiry and we apologize for the inconvenience. While most customers are satisfied with this vac, you may return the vac to Home Depot store within 90 days of purchase. The HD09001 model is rated 82 decibels with the hose attached. In addition, vacuums can get loud especially when used in an enclosed space. We highly recommend wearing ear protectors when using the vac for extended period of time or in a noisy area. Also, please check for any clog in the hose and filter. If you have other questions, feel free to contact us directly. We can be reached at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time or send us an email at info@ridgidvacs.com Thanks, RIDGID

Ridgid Cheap'd It Out Too Much
Just bought this yesterday, to replace an aging old ShopVac of similar size. I read some of the reviews beforehand, and thought I'd confirm a few of the complaints I saw. First of all, I saw complaints about the rigid tube that goes down to the floor brush being too flexible. It's true – the 3 pieces that lock together have too much flex in them. My old ShopVac had a single sturdy piece. The 10-foot power cord is woefully short. C'mon Ridgid...this is a shop vacuum, used typically in a garage or work environment. A garage is almost always longer than 20 feet! My ShopVac has an 18-foot cord and gave me plenty of room to haul it all over the garage. See the photo showing both side by side...this Ridgid will need an extension cord nearly every time I use it. And like another person complained, it's noisy. I think pretty much all shop vacs are noisy. I'll wear hearing protection if I'm going to use this more more than a minute or so. This vac comes with 2 nozzles – a wet pickup nozzle, and a small, narrow utility nozzle. No, it doesn't come with a floor brush. That's a relatively expensive optional accessory. No crevice tool either...I bought one, got it home (1 hour 15 minute drive away) and discovered it doesn't fit this model. Grrrr. The screws to fasten the handle/cord wrap were missing from the box, so I had to hunt some replacements down. One good thing...this vac can be reversed and used to inflate or blow things. I'm going to use it to inflate my water trampoline. PRO's: relatively easy to assemble; seems to have good suction; can be reversed to blow; good warranty. CON's: power cord is ridiculously short; vaccum tube is too flexible; accessories are very expensive. Would I recommend this to a friend? I don't think so. The lifetime warranty looks pretty good, but in reality is probably never going to be used, so it has limited value. I think there's better value to be had.

Love this vacuum. One design flaw.
This vacuum is fabulous but it does have one design flaw. Let me start by saying, the wheels has slots to put your hose extensions and its various attachments. This works alot better than I really expected because they stay put. Second, I use this vacuum ALOT. Now for the design flaw. The attachments fit in the wheel slots but they have to be taken off the hose to store out of the way. I have limited space and it has a huge footprint unless taken apart. I would love to be able to just stick that extension still attached to the hose into the wheel slot and carry on with making a bigger mess. Unfortunately, I have to take the hose extensions off, store those onboard then try to get all the cords and hoses positioned out of my way. Only to use it again in less than a half hour. This issue could be easily resolved by switching the sizes of the extension to fit in the wheel slots. I

Good vac, power cord is annoyingly too short.
This is a decent vac. Works well enough but the power cord is very short. Why couldn’t they charge a dollar or two more and provide a longer power cord. It’s also very loud and my ears are ringing after using it. This vac uses the smaller hose. I was able to use the larger hose from my other Ridgid vac that only lasted a year and a half of light duty Homeowner use. Hope this one lasts longer.

This is honestly one of the WORST Ridgid vacuums I've ever owned, and I have like 7 of them. I'm a huge Ridgid fan and most of my power and hand tools are Ridgid, but this was a huge disappointment. The despite being only 0.75 HP less than my 12gal-5hp Ridgid, this thing performs TERRIBLY. I used an airflow meter and measured a velocity of 64.7 MPH at end of the hose connected to the NXT. I then used the same hose and the same filter in the exact same configuration on the older 12gal/5hp vac and measured 118.6 MPH. THIS THING HAS LESS THAN HALF THE VELOCITY of the other Ridgid vac in the exact same scenario. HORRIBLE. Additionally, it is LOUD. Using a decibel meter on the A-scale, i measure a max of 90.8 dBl on the older unit. This newer NXT model screams at 99.9 dBL. If know you know how decibels work, it's a logarithmic scale, so 9 points higher is nearly TWICE as loud!!! Twice a loud and HALF the velocity, it's like all the power is being used to run a noise generator. And what's worse, the tone of the sound is higher pitched and harder to ignore, while the older model was much more mellow. This thing is terrible. Returning it immediately for an original style Ridgid that has more suction and less noise.

Hello Bert, We're sorry to hear your review on this product. First, thank you for your review of our product and the feedback you’ve provided. The best feedback we can get from our customers is going to be constructive in nature, and while your opinion is very important to us, we disagree with some of your findings. We’ve spent thousands of hours designing and redesigning this latest generation of vacuums and to compare a new 9 gallon machine to an older generation 12 gallon machine can be misleading, in that every size machine is designed to different user requirements, and based on these requirements different sized motors, different hose sizes, and differing accessories based on the most common jobs to be performed are included with each machine. Our smaller machines (6 and 9 gallon) are designed and optimized for a smaller, 1-7/8” diameter hose due to their limited drum capacity. Since the hose is a smaller diameter, it is more difficult to have a large volume of air, so the performance curve is tipped to higher inches of suction and lower CFM. The opposite is true for the 12/14/16 gallon units that we make. Due to the larger capacity tanks, those units were designed for higher CFM, so that the drums could be filled up quicker with debris than they could with the smaller diameter hose. The larger hose can also pick up larger debris due to the larger hose size. As for the performance metrics you provided in your review, based on the pictures provided, we're afraid you are not using Industry standard test procedures to calculate the air performance (ASTM F558-17) or the noise power (ASTM F1334-14) of the machines you compared, nor are you using the proper anemometer, or a proper noise room to calculate the sound power equally between the two. We also don’t know the condition of the calibration on the equipment you used. We understand why you might have used the same size hose for your testing, but these machines are not intended to use the same size hose and will perform better, in the real world, using the hoses for which they were designed. When the proper anemometer is used, based on industry standard test procedures, the duct (hose) size is taken into consideration and our testing shows that, with the supplied hose, our vacuums moved 5533 FPM for the HD0900 and 6148 FPM for the WD1270. Additionally, sound power readings on equipment similar to the piece you used are completely dependent on the vacs orientation, hose position, microphone location, and surrounding materials. These variables alone can easily change the reading by 10 dB A or more. When this test is run under controlled conditions as described in industry standard test procedures we received results showing 76.8 dB A for the HD0900 and 72.9 dB A for the WD1270. If you have further questions, you may call us at 1-800-474-3443 or you can send us an email at info@ridgidvacs.com. Thanks, RIDGID Ridgid

GREAT VAC. Bought in June, 2018. This NXT version 9-gallon vac has very good suction for its size. The 1-7/8" hose & accessories are much easier to handle than the 2-1/2" hoses & accessories of bigger vacs. Nice flexible hose ends. No more fighting with the hose when cleaning your car or tight spots. Easy-rolling swivel casters lets it follow you with no tugging effort. Tight fit between upper & lower sections for better suction. Nice big On/Off switch. Pretty good blower, too! Best feature is that this very compact, lightweight and powerful vac uses FULL SIZE filters, not the smaller vacs' shorty filters that clog up fast. I use a filter bag inside mine for car & general household cleanup so my filter NEVER clogs up! This NXT is a little pricey but good value for all but the toughest jobs. The only shortcoming of this vac is its 10-foot power cord - it's too short! It needs to be 15-20 feet minimum. You need an extension cord for this vac.
