Questions & Answers

Has the issue of the blades falling out been fixed?

I just bought this saw (without research) to do a project this weekend. Once I checked reviews I see there are problems with the blades falling out. Had I known I wouldn't have given this product any consideration, it appears not to be a new problem. Before I get into my laundry room remodel and find that my saw won't hold the blade I would rather just return it for another brand if the issue hasn't been resolved.
Asked by: alangski
No, the problem has not been fixed. Do not buy this saw.

Asked by: Elie
Get with the warranty department to see if you are covered. Possibly repair your old one would be an option ?

Fuego 10 Amp Orbital Reciprocating Saw is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 158.

He stated that with the Lifetime warranty, I would never have any trouble with the orbital saw not functioning in the future. I only had to bring the saw back to Home Depot for repair. I used the orbital saw and it it is fine for my small projects but I was not happy to see multiple reviews with purchasers having issues with the Lifetime warranty. In a few days, it will be 4 weeks since I filed the paperwork online. Until Ridgid specifically approves my Home Depot purchase for the Lifetime warranty, I don't have it. I am considering returning it.

Have owned this saw for 2 yrs light use but as the name implies, the gear box gets so hot while using it I'm surprised it hasn't burst into flames. it gets so hot it smokes. Not gonna pay $20 for them to look at it to let me know whether or not its covered under the warranty. spend a little extra for a better brand

The Ridgid was a good price but I was worried about the power at 10 amps. I have used it for the past few weeks on a remodel of a house from the 1930s. The power has been enough. The blades are easy to change. The Ridged as taken everything I have thrown at it; plaster, hand cut nails, 80 year old pine that some drill bits would not go through. It is lighter than my old one but not sure if that is better or not (think 12oz hammer vs 2lb good for different jobs). We will see about total tool life but hope it will last for years of work

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value - very durable I was originally reluctant to step away from the Milwaukee sawzall world but was pleasantly surprised with this tool. Long power cord made use easy, many jobs possible without having to pull an extra extension cord. Easy blade exchange, rotating handle adjustment is nice. Stacks up to the competition well at an affordable price.

The other day, the switch jammed in the on position. I registered the purchase with Ridgid when purchased to comply with the warranty requirements. The 3 year is long expired but the switch should be covered under the lifetime warranty. WRONG! the film flam insurance company behind the lifetime warranty said it wasn't registered properly and denied the repair. It's a decent saw but don't expect more than the factory 3 year warranty, the lifetime isn't worth the bother. BTW, I was informed by the repair house that Ryobi uses the same junk insurance company for their warranty. I purchased the switch myself and will replace. In the mean time, I picked up a Bosch to complete the project.

It doesnt hold any blades properly. Ridgid blades seem to be the only ones that don't immediately pop out, though they still will after a cut or two. I'm about to throw mine in the trash. Can't use diablor or milwaukee blades for even a single cut. Note: I have been using this saw for 3-4 years. And it has constantly done this. But I'm DONE at this point.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality I had this saw for 9 months i used it for remodel and framing jobs for work. this saw is only good for light weekend projects. The gear box broke on the saw. i am guessing they used thin cast iron for the gears instead of heavy steel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thing kicks butt I bought this one the day before I had to tackle getting a fuel oil tank out from a basement. Worked wonderful out of the box. Was worried about how some said the blade comes loose. I went through 5 blades in this project without any of the blades falling out or being loose.
