Questions & Answers

Lifetime guarantee on these batteries?

Asked by: magnusphi
Looked at the responses ... Unless Ridgid has changed policy in the last couple mo. Battery buy it self . 3 Year Battery bought with tool . Lifetime ... IF >> IF you follow all the rules . ( just bought 2 different kits this fall . All items are covered with lifetime AFTER register on line the ser. numbers . ) There is NO variance on the rules . If you have to exchange a battery for a new on you REREGISTER that REPLACEMENT battery ( in 30 days if I remember ) and if you don't .Then you they will not cover the new replacement even though they have a record from the service handler of the old bat and the new one being exchanged . ( I know I just got it done in 10 -2017 . ) You MUST call in not on line but call in on the phone the NEW serial numbers or they will not be covered . If old bat is ni-cad ... you get Ni Cad replacement . If lithium then you get lithium . The co. that uses the Ridgid name is not for satisfying the customer with the lifetime agreement . It's there as a marketing tool . The service centers are not plentiful . Now with that said . I am on my 3rd set of nicad's - 4 of them . ( this last set would have been $200 if I had to replace them with Lithium ) I followed all the rules and got lucky that the new service center is only 20 min away . Check your area via Ridgid site . If you think you're gonna get Home Depot to service it YOU WON"T . It is what it is ... yes I have saved money . KEEP YOUR RECORDS .... I don't trust them . I have never been lied to . But they are not about keeping the customer happy . It's about selling the product with a promise .. if you jump the hoops . Thanks Duncan Adams

The add says $99 for the "Pack" yet it also says "each"! Which is correct?

Asked by: gt
I paid $99 for the 2-Pack - which is a great deal.

Is a charger included?

Asked by: Lawles
No charger included. And, according to Ridgid when I registered them for the LSA the batteries are not eligible for the LSA.

Does the 4ah battery increase the torque potential at all?

Asked by: Jo
Hi Jo, The amps of the battery will give you a longer run time for the higher amps than the lower amps. Thanks for asking. Greg

Ridgid prides their selves on the supposed "lifetime warranty". Totally not a lifetime warranty, we bought several of these saws used them for about 6 months and they no longer worked. Ridgid says you have to bring them to their authorized dealer who is 8-10 weeks out, who has to evaluate them and then if they can't be fixed then Ridgid has to send you a new one and if Home Depot exchanges them out and gives you a new one they void your original warranty. A lot of good that warranty does if you need the saw to work for a living. I guess your supposed to sit around and wait on them. What a bunch of bologna. This product and the warranty does not even come close to meeting the advertising behind it. I am extremely unhappy with the product, the warranty and the customer service people at Ridgid. They were super rude and I can't believe Home Depot even wants to sell their product on their shelves and associate their selves with a company like this.

I purchased this saw in January of 2017 as a ad on to the 18 volt hammer drill impact set I received as a Christmas present. I finally pulled it out of the box in July to start using it as I was building a deck at my residence. To my amazement the saw stopped running before I crosscut one 2x4. When I called HOME DEPOT AND THEN RIDGID, I was instructed to take the saw back to Home Depot for servicing which I thought was totally wrong in the first place because the saw was brand new. Then when I did take the saw in for servicing I was informed that it would be 4 to 8 weeks before the saw was fixed and told there would be a $20.00 charge up front for repairs to cover if the reason the saw was broke was due to misuse on my part. This saw did not even have any saw dust on it yet , but mostly I was upset about the 4 to 8 weeks it would take to repair the saw. I do have the luxury of owning another saw to continue my deck but if I did not my project would have been put on hold for another 4 to 8 weeks until the saw was repaired. I have seen enough of Ridgid tools now and their so called great warranty to never buy another Ridgid product. I will stick with Dewalt as I have in the past. With the exception of batteries getting to old , I have never had a Dewalt tool fail me. Do not be fooled by Ridgid so called infamous warranty!!

However would you say that the majority of people are right handed or left handed? Easy answer right?......So why did Ridgid decide to put the blade on the right side of the saw where a right handed person can not see it to do a cut? Try picking up a 2x4 in your left hand and hold it while you hold the saw in your right hand to cut on a marked line.......Now try that with a DeWalt who put the blade on the correct side where you can see to cut.......I have over 10 Ridgid tools, and this one just makes me angry me off every time I use it.

I am on my second saw in as many months! The first had such a bad bushing (or something inside) that it would cause the blade to seriously bind-up and slow the blade to about 60 rpm's for the first 10-15 seconds of the trigger pull. That problem happened after maybe 1 battery pack of use. Second saw I have now is working, but has the blade deflecting issue others have mentioned... Everything else about this saw is great! but if it can't do the number one job it was intended for, it doesn't deserve any more than one star!

I recently purchased the 2-pack 18-volt high capacity 4.0AH batteries and have only had them for less than a month one of the batteries will say its fully charged on the charger but once placed on the tool being used it doesn't work and the battery charge indicator says its discharged. I have purchased Ridgid products before and the LSA that comes with the kits are great until you look for a location that does either repairs or exchanges and there are very few to be found in the local area not to mention the LSA (lifetime service agreement) doesn't apply for just battery pack purchase. I plan to contact Home Depot to see if they can be returned for an exchange.

Entire saw is backwards and almost impossible to use quickly. Compare to dewalt cordless or Ridgid worm drive corded saw and you'll see the problem. You have to look over the saw to see the cut line. This is such a bad design it makes me want to return all of the other Ridgid tools and trade them for Dewalt. Too bad the Ridgid batteries don't fit into a Dewalt bare tool! Actually I really like the other Ridgid tools and probably why I'm so disgruntled about this one.

I purchased other Ridgid cordless tools & the same results transpired - they encountered an issue when cross referencing my product and/or proof of purchase information with their records and were unable to upgrade my products to Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA) status. Well that is how they get out of the LSA. I gave them all info they asked for & they had an issue, so I returned the product to HD. It was a good buy as it was, but if they want to wiggle out of their commitment then I really do not want anything to do with them. So they receive 2 stars & not the 4 or 5 stars if they followed through on their commitment to LSA. I had read other reviews and there were quite a few people that had encountered the same problem. To be fair there also quite a few people that did not have this problem.

Went to rip a 2 by and saw slowed down/stopped. Thought was battery but confirmed it was internal to motor. Magnets apparently came unglued/unsecured in motor. Not sure how this qualifies as 'Rugged Jobsite Tools' as they advertise. Features on saw are good, little heavy but thats ok as long as it holds up which it didn't. Registering the warranty was problematic. Now we will see if that is worth anything.
