Junk, do not buy this
First, it came with only one blade. I assumed that's how it worked, & when the blade wore out, I went back to buy a pack of new blades. Sales guy tells me it takes 2 blades! Sure a lot easier getting the grout out. I nearly strip the tiny Philips head screws, but succeed getting 2 blades on it--Very poor quality tool.

    Blades not replaceable
Wish I'd read the reviews before buying this. I tried to remove the screws to change blades and a simple manual screwdriver caused the screw heads to start disintegrating. They can't withstand enough torque to be loosened after the factory put them in. I hate to treat tools as disposable items, but that is exactly what this one is.

The serrated blade is stamped from very cheap steel. The teeth wore completely gone after just 15 minutes of use. Just more cheap Chinese junk with a quality brand name on it.

Ridgid makes wonderful tools. I am a fan and even when they manufacture a tool as basic as a grout saw, I am happy. The saw works well to get in between grout lines. It has lasted a few projects and there isn't much wear. As with all tile projects, cleaning your tools after use makes them last longer. The handle of this saw is comfortable, it's a stiff plastic but has little ridges to prevent it from slipping.

The RIDGID professional Grout Saw is to help strip, remove grout and remove mortar from 3/16 in tile joints and up to 1/4 in. The handle is ergonomic handle and design provides more comfort and leverage. I have medium size hands and the handle barely fits me. If you bigger hands you might have a problem. There are replacement blades for them. The blade is made of carbine grit and has a serrated blade. I use it for remove the mortar that dried on between the grout lines, so I run it though there before I grout it.

This is a good solution for removing grout when refreshing or repairing a tiled surface. We ended up with a couple of cracked floor tiles in our kitchen recently and needed to find a tool that could be used to remove the grout and thin set from the joints before we broke out the cracked tiles. I decided to try this grout saw instead of using my Dremel with a grout blade since the hand tool gives me more control over the process and reduces the chance of damaging adjacent tiles or inadvertently digging past the thin set into the sound proofing material below. You can feel the difference in the tool’s response when it passes through the grout and thin set into the rubber material below. I started with the carbide blade but quickly switched to the serrated blade as it has a more aggressive cut. The saw did exactly what I needed and provided a clean cut down to the sound proofing layer which yielded clean edges when the tiles were removed. Switching blades is a breeze using a Philips #1 or a flat blade screwdriver. The floor tiles were approx. 12” square and after I’d removed about 7 linear feet of grout and thinset from the joints, the serrated blade was completely worn down. It took me about 10 minutes to remove the grout down to the depth I needed. Replacement blades are just over $3 for a set so it isn’t the end of the world if they wear out. This is now in my tiling tool container and is likely to be used again in the near future to re grout the floor in our master bathroom shower cubicle.

If you have some ugly grout lines, this is the tool for you. Many times I have had extra grout going into my lines, but all you do is take this saw and sand them out. This comes with two different blades, and can be replaced easily when needed. Even though the replacement blades are cheap and easy to switch out, you probably won't need to do that for a very long while. The blades are extremely tough and stay sharp for a very long time. The Polly handle feels great in the hand, and the ergonomics they brought to the style will leave you wrist feel fine after long periods of use. I love this grout saw, and have beautiful lines every time.

        Screws strip when removing blades
It is designed to allow you to take off the blades and use just one if you have a narrow gap. But the screws to take off the blades are so soft that the heads instantly strip. Could not remove them.

This works alright for some more detail work or cleaning up the edge of tiles or cleaning up thinner grout lines where you may not want to mess up your tile (I.e. mosaic tile) If your project is a complete remove/replace of existing grout in a large area, do yourself a favor and get a powered multi tool with a carbide bit. Using this will drive you insane and take you weeks. The blade did dull pretty quickly too so I’d recommend getting extra blades as well if you can only use this.

I used this till to remove excess thinset from between tile, it works great. I found it works best if you use it as a saw - gently sawing back and forth.

Has the same screw problem as QEP grout saw
Probably made in the same Chinese factory. If you only want to use one blade, for thinner grout lines, it will be hard to remove the screws to do so. People who said they were easy to change....was this based on actual experience or were they assuming it when they saw screws? Maybe they just used both blades. I picked this one because QEP had a lot of complaints about not being able to remove screws. Well, on the Rigid, I only got one screw out. The other was impossible. So after waiting a week for this to be shipped to my local store, I still don't have a usable grout saw. It started its shipping journey about 80 miles away, took a vacation in another state, then returned very slowly. Likes traveling better than removing grout evidently.
