These look easier to use and less damaging than the wedge system. Will these work okay for wall tile? I will be using them for a shower install as a DIYer first time, wanting to achieve 1/16 grout lines.
Asked by: Nic
I don't see why not, the bottom part is a bit fragile but the system works well.

We just did our first tile job, our 100-square-foot master bath. We had these kick off fine but leave a lip above the grout line. Without striking the edge of the tile (for fear of chipping), we're wondering how we can get these below the level where the grout will be, so we don't have the plastic peeking out?

I have used a rubber mallet to brake some of mine, it worked out perfect.

Does this still require floor leveling compound underneath tile?
Asked by: MADEINTEXAS
This system has nothing to do with the foundation beneath the tile but designed to correct the very slight non-perfectly flat issue associated with LFT. With that being said, it depends on the foundation/ subflooring condition. My basement bathroom is pretty level with one area slightly off by very little which was easily corrected with mortar (no additional leveling compound or backer needed)... However, I plan on using this system for 2 other bathrooms and my kitchen which are on wood subfloors. I will be using cement backers for those rooms to establish a solid level foundation. I will use the rubi leveling system for 8x24 porcelain LFT. Hope this helped.

Asked by: poolguy
Valid question. It hasn't happened to me. I accidentally bumped one (one that shouldn't be removed because I need to finish) with socks on (after 2 days of dry time). It easily broke off. So I'd guess whatever prying tool you can find. It'll be similar to digging dry mortar out the grout line.

LevelMax Anti-Lippage and Spacing System Top Only is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 131.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for large format tiles 1/16 white spacers, not breaking properly at base, thus making it hard to remove left over plastic, this happened on a wall with 24×12" porcelain tiles, good idea but wouldn't recommend at this time, needs refinement

As a DIYer installing a tile backsplash for the very first time, I found this system invaluable. I gutted my kitchen and installed new cabinets, some electrical and plumbing but the tiling scared me because I know the backsplash can make or break a kitchen. This system helped me install 4X12 ceramic tiles on two walls with ease and eliminated any lippage that is inherent in this type of installation. The result is a beautiful kitchen with a perfectly flat backsplash.

Really liked the way you can crank the joint tight and level with this product. Everything worked great except sometimes the plastic levelers don't break off completely below the level of the tile.

The system makes it difficult to truly Determine if the tiles are in fact level with each other and the clamps are not strong enough to pull tiles into position. You must make sure that all tiles are level Before you clamp the spinner down so a traditional removable spacer worked much better for me.
