About This Product

The Economy Knee Kicker secures carpet during installation and makes it easy to fix loose carpet. This positioning tool is designed for use with low-profile carpet, and features teeth angled forward to help grip and hold the carpet. The teeth are not straight, because this kicker is not intended to pull or stretch carpet to remove wrinkles. The thick foam-filled bumper pad and nonslip, comfort foam grip handle make this knee kicker comfortable to use. It is ideal for small installations, to fix loose carpet, and to use in hallways and closets. Lightweight aluminum and steel construction.

Yes, it works fine to stretch artificial turf.

                By|Jun 25, 2021

Yes if you mean the thin mat type that comes in rolls like carpet. I used that type inside of a screened in country style porch and I used one of these carpet stretchers to get it tight just be careful because the style of artificial turf I used wore thin quickly in areas that I had stretched it the most.

                  By|Jul 30, 2019

Thank you for your inquiry. It is unknown if turf is recommended for stretching. However, knee kickers are to help tighten lose areas and fit in areas of wall to wall carpet.(stair ways, perimeters etc) Always contact the turf manufacturer for installation requirements.

What fastener are you referring to?

                          By|May 5, 2023

This does not have a fastner to it. If you are referring to what holds the carpet it place, there are tack strips at the edge of the carpet that hold it in place. This stretches the carpet past its current position on the tacks so that the carpet becomes more taught. I pushed with the kicker and pressed the carpet down on the tack strips. If the carpet moved enough, you can feel the tacks bite into the underside of the carpet when you push down (and sometimes you can hear it too). If you are installing new carpet and don't have tack strips, you'll need to purchase some for the perimeter of the carpet. The come in packs and are pretty cheap. You nail them down with the tacks facing up (or you can screw them down after pre-drilling). Then you can lay your carpet. I hope this helps!

There is no integral fastener. You simply use it to pull the carpet taut.

You use carpet tack strips around the perimeter of the room to hold the carpet in place. The strips can be purchased at Home Depot

Most Tool rental stores have a selection of this type tool for rent. Also, you can use a rubber mallet to bump this if your knees are fragile.

The Home Depot does have a very good toll rental program and although you will have to check availability in your area I am almost certain that you'll be able to rent one near you.

Yes. I could have rented a more expensive one locally. If I plan to never pull wrinkles out or install any carpet in the future, then I would have rented.

                                        Economy Knee Kicker
I bought this knee kicker because it was the cheapest way for me to stretch the carpets in our upstairs. This save me SO MUCH MONEY! I was able to get the ripples out of our master bedroom, hallway, spare bedroom, my in-law's hallway, and one of their spare bedrooms. I did tear up my knees on the first round of rooms so I'd recommend wearing kneepads - brushing my knees on the carpet is what tore my knees up, it didn't come from this kicker. This saved me so much money because I didn't have to hire a company and I didn't have to buy or rent the more expensive setups. I highly recommend this kicker. The knee pad is very thick, the handle is padded too, and the "grabbers" that grip the carpet do a great job of pulling and holding. I used this for several hours and it was more comfortable than I thought it would be.

                                        Better Than It Looks
This knee kicker is a good bit beefier than it looks in the photos. Definitely up to small jobs and homeowner repairs. The professional models are considerably more durable and offer adjustability but for the occasional user this is a great product and a great value. I use it as directed, and also with a 54 ounce flooring hammer on walls and ceilings or in close quarters.

                                          Easy to use
The economy knee kicker is great for fixing those loose carpet problems where you get a wrinkle over time. It is 16 1/2" in length and has a thick pad and foam grip. It is made out of lightweight aluminum and steel construction. It has three nap grips to hold the carpet firmly that look like they would be sharp but are not a problem in handling the kicker.

For a basic carpet install it works real well. But since you cannot adjust the teeth on it you may have slight issues on a real thick carpet

First time I tried one of these had to get some wrinkles out of a room that was about 15x15 and it did the job follow the instructions. I was able to kick stretch the carpet and then push it down on the tack strip. This device worked fine for what I needed it for. I was able to save the carpet and it worked good.
