Q:We would like to use the red seam tape to attach an underlayment layer of ROBERTS AirGuard underlayment to our concrete basement floor and then use this double sided tape to attach the sheet vinyl we have. Will this adhere to red seam tape /underlayment?

Answer This Question

A:  Model Number: 50-040Underlayment Seam Tape is ideal for joining underlayment seams under floating floors and for repairing rips during underlayment installation. ROBERTS® AirGuard® Underlayment is specifically designed for use under floating laminate and engineered wood flooring. Performance values of the underlayment and flooring are unknown when used under other flooring materials such as vinyl sheet goods. Any use of the product out of the specific guidelines are at the discretion of the end user.

Q:if I tape the vinyl sheet instead of glue down will I have a pocket in the flooring? In other words i have read that floating floors on wood subfloors can have a hollow sound. I read if directly attached that hollow sound wont happen

    Answer This Question

A:  Floating floors refers to engineered wood or some sort of click style wood flooring. Vinyl flooring or polyvinyl carbonate flooring, which is what you’re referring to, should be glued down or taped. Some of the new vinyl flooring doesn’t even need that

A:  Great Question. If the flooring manufacturer recommends a perimeter application, 50-540 is built to perform with this application technique. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for best results.

A:  I used the tape around the parameter of a small room and didn't have any issues and found it much easier to work with.

Q:How much tape would be needed for a room that is 342 square Feet

            Answer This Question

A:  I purchased the tape for seaming two sections of rolled flooring together. I’m not sure how long your seams or room dimensions you have. I would recommend measuring the lineal feet of your perimeter and seams to determine how many rolls you will need.

            by|Jul 14, 2023

A:  L x W = square feet. Follow the flooring manufacturer's specific installation guidelines for a perimeter application. This tape is 50 feet long for seams application.

This stuff works great for my application. I used it to secure Eco-Foil insulation to my steel workshop beams before I secured it with self tappers. Seals much better the overlapping seems than the tape supplied by eco foil.

                Wow!
This tape is no joke!!! I thought I was dreaming when I was told I could lay vinyl floor with tape. Lol.. I put one piece around each side of my room and bam! The floor isn’t moving!!! This tape is serious! Lol.. make sure your under floor is completely clean! If it’s not sticking it’s probably from not cleaning the surface area. My subfloor is particle board. And I stuck it to that with no problem. Get it right because this stuff is hard to pull back up. Lol

This product works very well for installing flooring, I used it at work to install some new, fun, interactive flooring. I made 1/4 wood trim around the edges and thought I would have to nail it also but the tape works fine by itself. I've used it for other projects and it's always been easy to use and holds up for a long time.

                  Just what we needed
The Home Depot sales person was very helpful in options of installing our new flooring to our vintage travel trailer. We thought messy glue of many types was the only way to go, then found out about the double sided Max grip tape. Made the job fast and has lasted great. Thanks Mark B.

This tape made the floor look like a professional installed it.
I laid down the vinyl and it fit but bubbled up along the edges where it touched the base boards/trim. I didn't want to start shaving off the edges in 1/8 inch slivers so I laid down the grip tape and the floor laid flat. It looks great. Added some molding and I am very proud of this project.
