This made the work much easier than expected
I used the Roberts “The General” knee kicker to remove some carpet buckling that had developed over the years. This is very well made, it weighs about 4.8 pounds, 17.5” long and 5” wide and tall. The gel kick pad is well contained by a rubber knee pad and makes for a “comfortable” experience, but gets the job done with less effort than I was expecting. The 18 kicker teeth exposure can be adjusted in height variance of 3/8” by the large easily turned knob with 13 detent stops. The kicker teeth and pins are protected by a snap on rubberized plastic cover.

Super Design
I have a room off of an unsealed loft space that was very drafty and needed the carpet pulled up in order to seal gaps along the baseboards. The General is an excellent tool and served exactly the purpose. The medium shag never required that I go past 3 1/2 - 4 on the dial adjuster and the grip was consistently solid. It's also lightweight, and easily handled. The gel bumper absorbed the blow from my knee without any recoil and minimized the impact to my knee. Unlike pro installers, I wasn't using this for multiple rooms, but I can infer from my experience that it would be easy on the body even after continuous use. The handle telescopes, with 5 stops in between fully extended and fully retracted. I kept it mostly closed position, which I found easier to handle. It comes with a plastic cover for the pins, but that comes loose pretty easily - the only feature that I thought could be improved.

This thing is a beast
Hey guys and girls so I was sent this knee kicker, it's for installing carpet, for obvious reasons you want your carpet tight on the tack strips this is the tool you would use, but this thing is on another level it's huge which is a good thing it grabs more carpet per kick it has a solid heft to the tool and the knee kick pad is large you won't be disappointedwith the amount of carpet it grabs that's less knee kicks you have to do over installation

Handy to have to tighten up that loose carpet.
I used this on my older hallway carpet that was beginning to show its age with wrinkles. The kick grabbed the carpet securely and I able to kick the wrinkles right out of it. The tools is solid and build well. The length is easy to adjust without tools. It is a nice to have feature. I did not need to extend it but there are places where the additional length may be needed. The kicker pins are easily adjustable 0-1/2" to catch the backing of the carpet. The bumper provided a good cushion to my knee during impacts. This tool and my knee will hold up well during larger carpet stretching operations.

Good kicker for carpet installation
The Roberts General Knee Kicker is good for carpet installation and also for getting wrinkles out of carpet. It comes with an extra wide 5” head. It’s made out of a die cast aluminum for durability and maximum strength. The handle can be adjusted to use the default length of 17.5” or you can extend it up to 21.5”. The teeth can be adjusted to 7 different positions using the turning knob on the head of the kicker. When storing the kicker, it comes with a plastic cover that covers the teeth. The back part of the kicker has a Gel Pad that helps to protect your knee from impact when kicking the kicker. Overall, it’s a good kicker with good quality.

Quality knee kicker
The General 5 inch model is a well made tool. The kicker is made aluminum and has a wider head with five rows of pins and four rows of nips. I like the gel pad, it's comfortable on impact when kicking it. I did notice that the pad on this model is more angled and not square. The idea behind this is that its supposed to help accommodate a more natural kick. The kicker also has a higher bridge designed to help reduce injuring your hands when stretchering carpet. The kicker is also adjustable and adjusts from 17.5 inches to 21.5 inches in length. The kicker is well made like other Roberts tools I own, I have not doubt this kicker will last a long time. I would definitely recommend this product to both my friends and family who need a quality kicker.

Newly designed bumper
Newly designed bumper. Computerized stress analysis will ensure years of use. Includes a gel pack in the bumper to help keep injury away that should rotated occasionally. The length of the tool can be adjusted from 17.5” to 21.5” to fit your comfort via a trigger embedded in the handle. A twelve position knob extends the pins up to 1/2”. A very solid tool.

Nice, sturdy build.
This is a pretty sturdy kicker and has quite a number of settings. I did have a problem in that I couldn't get the knob to turn all the way up, but honestly, I don't expect to ever have to need the pins that far down. Construction is really good and I didn't notice any looseness anywhere. The gel pad is nice, but could use a bit more padding really. The adjustment lever is smooth and does a good job locking the length in place. The needles grab well, and there are quite a number of them. It comes with head guard that snaps in place to keep the head safe in a bag. Overall, a well built unit that will work well for me as a DIYer. Not sure what a pro would think

A solid heavy duty carpet kicker.
This carpet kicker arrived well packaged with the instruction manual and warranty card in the box. Upon taking it out, I couldn’t help but notice its heft and quality of construction. The pad is super thick and wont hurt your knees, the depth control adjustment mechanism is intuitive and easy to use. The jaws/teeth are also super strong and don’t look like they’d bend anytime soon. I was able to stretch out a massive rug in my living room with just a few kicks even with heavy furniture sitting on top of it.

Well built heavy duty carpet kicker does the job.
My new Roberts carpet kicker performs exactly as I hoped it would. The 5 in head has 4 strips of napping grips backed up by 5 rows of adjustable depth steel pins if extra gripping power is needed. These adjustable pins have 7 easily adjustable depth settings. The rod between the kick pad and the head adjusts between 17.5 and 21.5 inches by just pushing in a lever and pulling out the telescoping handle. The gel knee kick pad has a 5 degree angle what I find works well for me. It also has 4 different rotations to change up different personal comfort levels, although I have not had to use that feature. I have now used this tool to install carpeting in my den, including a small closet, and the tool shows no sign of wear and my knee is happy.
