I just bought and hooked up the Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer and and the pressure from the machine is pathetic. Am I doing something wrong? There is normal water pressure from the hose and I thought that using an electric power washer would give me a strong stream of water when turned on and it doesn't. I can't find anything in the instructions that explains why my pressure washer won't work as I thought it would. Any suggestions? I did take out the water inhibitor from the hose hookup and I am not sure if there are any other tricks to make it work.

Can I use this to wash cars?
Asked by: Ab
I would never use it on new or valuable vehicles. Get a foam gum instead and high quality car wash solution like Chemical Guys. But if you have a beat up 20 year old pickup, this would be a perfect choice.

1,600 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 2750.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good little pressure washer! I picked this up today to pressure wash brick walls and a concrete patio around the front of my house. I originally was going to get the larger unit that has the frame and wheels, but I think this smaller unit is the same internally so I went with the less expensive option, plus it will be easier to store. It's easy enough to pickup and move around to where ever you need it. The turbo nozzle works quite well, it is very strong. The 15* nozzle works great too. I didn't use the soap nozzle. I started the job yesterday using a unit I borrowed that is rated at 1800psi and 1.6gpm, it worked just fine but I figured I should get my own. This Ryobi is rated at 1600psi and 1.2gpm and seemed to work as well or better! I really like how compact the unit is when broken down and ready for storage. I think it is a great value for the price! Hopefully it will last for a long time, it seems to be well built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great Bought this baby last weekend to clean off the back porch and man does it work well. The area needing to be cleaned off had not been cleaned in over 3 years so it was a job. This had it done in less than 6 hours, no sweat. Now I can walk around barefoot outside on my patio and not have to worry about the gross concrete grime on my feet and tracking it back into the house. The turbo nozzle is the way to go if hitting concrete or other hard outdoor porous surfaces. The yellow nozzle worked well too, but it would take more passes to get the same area cleared due to the spray path's width. I have seen a couple of reviewers state that he pump was cutting off within minutes of turning the machine on and using it. This is normal, as the machine is regulating the water intake from the hose and ridding the line of all of the trapped air inside. Depending on how long the hose is, it could take a minute or two for it to become fully pressurized. Again this is normal, it is not a defect in the product. I suggest those reviewers keep trying to use it for a few minutes after it has "cut off" as they say and see that the hose's water becomes fully pressurized, I bet that it will work fine.

The pressure washer is more than powerful enough for most jobs around the house and you don't have to worry about gouging any wooden surface as you do with one of the BIG gas powered models. Just plug it in, turn on the water and give it about 30 seconds to prime up and you are ready to go. Soap dispenses in low pressure setting only so if you have a really high place to wash you'll likely need a ladder. The distance for the low pressure spray is about 6 to 8 feet. The wand that comes with it is short and I bought an extension wand at the same time I bought the washer. It's worth the little bit extra expense. I've used the washer to clean a 16 by 45 by 16 storage building, a 12 by 12 shed inside and out and a 14 by 14 tile patio and I'm very pleased with the results. The washer is strong enough to strip out any grass between patio stones and that's a BIG plus. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting a washer of their own but not the hassle of dealing with a big gas model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bang for the Buck! I purchased this unit after being disappointed by a previous unit i bought at Walmart. I've had the unit only a week but have had the opportunity to test it on two cars, concrete, a tile balcony, white wicker outdoor chairs, the house and a wood fence. It PERFORMS! Read the instructions completely, use the appropriate nozzle attachments and you won't mess up. The high pressure nozzle was safe on my car's paint. However I wud suggest spraying at distance first, up close didnt damage my paint tho and it was plenty strong to clean alloy wheels. The turbo nozzle is very effective be careful with its use. The unit is lightweight, relatively quiet, well made, and compact enough to fit on a shelf in the garage. I have several Ryobi power tools so I purchased with confidence, you should too.

I walked outside two days ago, looked at the house and realized I've been lazy and my white steel siding is basically functioning as a home for algae, mildew and fungus. So at Home Depot, I found this on sale for $79.00. Unboxed it at home and had it going within a few minutes. Ran it over two days for a combined 8 hours of use. I was very impressed at the ease of setup and the ease of removing the grime from not only my home's exterior, but also the concrete porch and steps. I don't know if it's strong enough to wash away the guilt of making bad decisions at the bar, but it will certainly do the job of cleaning most things at my house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than does the job! I bought this pressure washer several months ago and finally had the opportunity to use it. First, I used it with the Turbo tip to clean a very mossy brick wall surrounding one of my trees. The thing stripped 20 years worth of various growth down to the aggregate in the brick, exactly what I was looking for. Next up washing my two cars, this time with the 15 degree and soap tips (very important note - do NOT use the turbo tip on your car unless you want to take the paint off!) Again a great job cleaning some tough brake dust from custom wheels, while doing an appropriately gentle job on the car body. The electric cord is long enough to minimize moving the unit around too much during use. Very easy to connect and use. Has a pressure washer soap reservoir, but will go through that soap quickly if not using the soap tip for the washer. If I had one complaint it would be that there isn't anywhere to wrap the electric or wand hose to when storing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worked well on dirty lanai used for the first time finally and was pleased with how it cleaned. I have purchased a floor cleaner attachment which should make the process even better. Pleased with how easy it is to move around - I use around a pool and wanted something stable and not on wheel to avoid tipping into the water. Seems like this will work well. So, bought this one to replace even though old one still runs perfectly. Good pressure, cleaned deck and concrete patio. Really like that it uses standard tips so I could use old ones which will give me more options. Smaller size is really a plus for storage. Was concerned that it would not be adequate but was pleasantly surprised. Will try walkway and driveway next. I also appreciate that they provided me with a military discount. This means a lot from a Viet Nam veteran.
