Questions & Answers

After cpl of hours leaks oil. any others doing the same ?

Asked by: Mike
The pump motor has oil in it. It's common for the oil to leak out of the seals where the pistons go through the pump if they are worn. If you run the pump with no water running through it the seals will wear out much quicker.

Don't get too close to the screen because you will blow a hole through it ( like I did )

Does this machine have enough pressure to get the soap high enough to clean the siding and windows on a two story house

Asked by: jojo65
I called Ryobi direct and learned there is a 3' extension available (we just got one last night). It is Power Care (a Ryobi brand) and the part number is AP31080. It is available from Home Depot online and in stores for just $30+.

can I clean my driveway with this pressure washer? Thanks

Asked by: Nickolay
Thank you for asking, Nickolay. You may use this tool around the house for cleaning most small to large horizontal or vertical exterior surfaces, smaller exterior objects and structures, and outdoor equipment and tools.* You can: *Clean or remove mold and mildew from weathered decks, driveways, patios, walkways, sidewalks, etc. *Remove dirt from various exterior vertical surfaces such as house exteriors, siding, fences, brick, concrete or stone walls, etc. *Wash boats, outdoor furniture, powered or non-powered garden equipment, gutters, window screens, grills, playground equipment, etc. *Always test in an inconspicuous area first. I hope this helps and we appreciate your interest in Ryobi! -Keri

Customer Reviews

1,700 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 3606.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good... I picked up this electric pressure washer because the pump went out on my gas powered pressure washer and a replacement pump was going to cost $179, not counting labor. I've used it three times. First, I was using the turbo jet on cleaning the sides of a cement goldfish pond. Worked great. Next project was a concrete patio. Once again-great results. Third time, I worked on an asphalt driveway. I can't really blame the washer on not getting up the oil stains with the driveway cleaner added to the mix. It did a nice job with the dirt. Overall a very good job. You have to go slow with it because it has a rather small cleaning area- about the size of an orange with the turbo jet. The real test will be how long will the pump last? I agree with another reviewer that they should include a bottle of pump protector with this product. Pump protector costs $10 a bottle. Overall a very good/excellent product right now and hopefully with a three year warranty it will keep going strong.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not last 30 minutes! My old garage sale electric pressure washer died after 10+ years of homeowner use, decided to buy new this time so I know it would last a while. Did a bit of research and picked this model. The 1700psi worked fine for me in the past and I have nothing but praise for my Ryobi 18 volt drills and many other power tools that use the same battery. Most of the reviews were positive for this washer, picked it up after work today. Assembled easily and she worked as it should...... for a while. After about 20-25 minutes washing my boat I heard a pop and felt something hit my leg. Washer lost all pressure but kept running. Looked down to see the brass detergent nozzle had popped out. Tried to screw in, but was spinning free with only finger pressure. Also, some milky white oil was leaking from behind the pump. Took a few pictures then loaded all of it back in the car, will return following day after work. Not taking a replacement on this model, will have to check out other washers. Very disappointed !

I was looking for a pressure washer to deep clean concrete staining, and was very intrigued by this one, based on the high reviews. I was also planning to deep clean the garage floor and driveway. This was so easy to assemble and easy to use, but I was underwhelmed by the power. Didn’t clean the driveway any better than my regular hose. Did NOTHING to remove the stain on my concrete. And I tried it on a section of the garage floor with the same results. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I ended up returning it the same day I purchased it. I’m not sure why such high reviews, but even the employee at Home Depot told me when I returned it, that it was basically like using your hose. To clean concrete really well, you almost need a commercial grade power washer that has 3000 to 4000 PSI. I learned my lesson. I would not recommend this if you want to deep clean your concrete and make it look like new. Just not powerful enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for I've been looking for a light-purpose electric pressure washer and this one fits the bill perfectly. Assembling the unit is literally a snap - less than 10 minutes from opening the box to complete. The only tool needed is a screwdriver to screw the wand holder to the handle. It's light enough to carry with one hand. Both the power code and hose are pleasantly long - I was able to wash my 50' wide deck without moving the washer and without using an extension cord. It's well designed for usability with color-coded nozzles, a holder for each nozzle, and a label for when to use each nozzle. It also has a convenient velcro strap for holding the hose and a flip-down release for the power cord. It makes a fairly loud whining sound when running, much like a loud vacuum cleaner. I used hearing protection while washing my deck. It has a soap dispenser, but no way to stop the detergent flow other than running the soap tank out, a minor inconvenience when washing and then rinsing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FANTASTIC Pressure Washer!! Please watch my video review to see this pressure washer in action and read on for details. My house has a big deck that's covered with a vinyl material, and thanks to many overhanging trees, it needs to be washed at least once a year. Last year, I rented an electric pressure washer from The Home Depot, but, this year, realized that buying one would be a much smarter investment. After doing some research online, the clear choice was the Ryobi 1700-PSI Electric Pressure Washer (1.2 GPM), so I purchased it. Without a doubt, I got a FANTASTIC pressure washer! Setup was a snap, and operation couldn't be easier: plug it in, turn it on, and squeeze the trigger. The three included nozzles (15º, turbo, and soap) cover the spectrum of what I need for my deck, and I've been using the 15º nozzle primarily -- its high pressure, flat spray output cleans the vinyl without tearing it. As an added bonus, this pressure washer requires no lubrication.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm ! I wanted to do a little sprucing up around the outside of my house. So I debated on getting the portable electric unit but decided on getting this one because of the wheels and easier to move around. It only took a few minutes to assemble and I was ready to go. I did add an extension hose onto my existing one so that it would reach my front porch. But once I got started there was no stopping me. I started on the pavers in the back yard walkway, then did the backyard concrete patio. Then I moved to the concrete front porch and walkway. Unfortunately I was unable to upload the before front porch photo due to its size, but I have attached the after photo of the front porch and before/after of the back pavers. What a difference it made. Never realized how dirty they all were. I would recommend wearing protective eyewear because there is a little backs plash from using the water wand, but it was a nice way to cool off on a hot day. !

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Get what you pay for This worked well for washing my cedar clad home. But in 3 seasons I replaced the hose once, replaced the wand twice, and had to repair the power supply. This has only been for light residential use, and it is going in the trash.
