    In my experience, this would work for you, but I don't know the diameter of the trees you're looking to cut down. It worked for hours without needing to charge the battery and it cut like the big limbs were butter. The chainsaw is heavy though....heavier than others we own.

    we purchased this and are only getting about 45 minutes out of the battery. is this normal?

    no clue on battery time, 1st time I cut took like 2 hours fiddling around with stuff and needed to get pole saw to finish due to height. 2nd time I was cutting the base of the tree and took it to 1/2 battery, spent like 20-30 mins strait sawing.

    In the Procduct Overview it says this has a "21.2 cc 2-stroke gas engine" so is this an electric ...

    The battery does not last very long 15-20 min. Is all I getting from a charged battery.

    If you are using it like me continuously at times, like cutting a large tree, thats all the run time you get. Using it to cut branches, single pass cuts, battery lasts twice as long.

    Would this chainsaw be safe for a 60 yr old woman to use? As in fo you need alot of arm and hand strength to use?

    Saw is much lighter in weight than my 16" gas saw. So i would definetly say yes.

    They all leak bar oil. Store saw with oil reservoir tank side down. If you store it sitting on frame, or tank up, it will leak.

    Can i use a 40 v lithium 6Ah instead of a 4Ah?

    Starts when you pull the trigger
    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a gift for Christmas 2020. I'm a home owner living in a hurricane prone state. I have owned over the years 4 different gas chain saws. I have done everything the manufacture recommended for long term storage only to have it not start at the time of need after a storm. I used my new Ryobi 40V chain saw this weekend to drop a tree that need to come down. This saw preformed outstanding, no hesitation, no stalling. I was able to drop the tree, limb it and cut it up into logs for fire wood. I was able to do all this on 3 full battery charges. I have 2 batteries started out with both fully charged discharge the first one let it cool and while I was work with the second battery I charged the first battery again to complete the job. Again outstanding tool, I know if need to call on this saw 6 months or 12 months from now it will be ready to go.

    RYOBI RY40503VNM CHAINSAW 14 INCH WORKS GREATT
    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this chainsaw after my stihl 16 inch refused to start. Pulled spark plug on my stihl and it was dry meaing no gas in combustion chamber. I had to get a tree down so I had been looking at this 4-v Ryobi and decided to give it a try. I cut down a tree that was getting large and was too close to my house. This saw had no problem doing the job. Cut i down and cut in up in short order and had plenty of battery remaining. Top of stump measured 9 inches. See photos

    This saw has great power.

I was very with the performance and how quickly this saw cut a 10" limb. And the operating length of the battery was fantastic, the saw is light and easy to handle, I did not have a single kickback.

    There actually was no assembly except putting on the blade that's pretty easy I was really surprised that the power is about equal to a gas chainsaw the only thing is the battery of course has to be recharged when it runs out but you get a really good 30 to 40 minutes of high usage more if you use it at a lower rate

    My first cordless Ryobi tool was the leaf blower as a replacement for my small corded blower with a ridiculously cumbersome extension cord to drag around. I've used a lot of chainsaws over the years, all of them gas powered. Based on my positive experience with the blower, a month ago I decided to give the Ryobi cordless chainsaw a try. Out of the box, the first impression was the extremely informative instruction manual. It's probably the most comprehensive manual I've ever seen. Fast forward to the chainsaw - now that I've had a chance to use it extensively while clearing out a couple dozen mature nuisance hackberry trees. I find it easy to use and has no problem cutting full grown trees all day long. All I've got to do is make sure the chain is tight, the oil is full and the battery charged. When I got tired and had to take a break, the chainsaw was patiently waiting to get back to work. It pulls all day like a gas saw without the loud noise and fuel issues. I already had one identical battery that came with the blower, so I brought it along as a backup if necessary. I hope others have had the same positive experiences as I have. I recommend this chainsaw without reservation. Gary G.

    Wow! Better than I had hoped.
    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had cut down most of a dead tree with a smaller saw, but the trunk was too thick. It occurred to me that it might be time to consider an electric chain saw. Other reviews were good, and the tool did not disappoint. It had plenty of power to cut smoothly through up to 12 inches of dried orange tree trunk. After about 12 cuts, the battery showed 3 out of 4 lights of battery power remaining. The cuts were clean and smooth. There was no tendency to bog down. I just allowed the tool to do the work, and it went right through with no hesitation. I am looking forward to using this saw (and the accompanying pole saw) to clear some heavy brush, with trunks up to 3 inches in diameter. This will not replace my gas powered chain saw for cutting big logs, but it certainly will get a lot of use for the smaller stuff. The battery interchangeability with all my other Ryobi tools is an added benefit.
