Worked great until it didnt
Bought this a couple months ago. Its not my first mitre saw, but it was an upgrade from my old Delta. Once I got the blade perpendicular to the fence, it cut great. The preset indents aren't accurate though. A 45° cut is off by about 2°. Most of the saw is either plastic or aluminum. But these weren't deal breakers. What was was the saw breaking. Went to make a couple cuts tonight, and everything seemed fine, up until the saw sounded like it exploded. The saw is completely unusable now. The arm for the saw guard is bent, the blade guard is broken, and does not look repairable.

This is a great value saw for any DIYer. Ryobi really knows what to they are doing in making high value tools for your average home owner. I will say this is NOT a contractor saw or professional grade saw. It can have some bog down on hard pieces or if the wood shifts. It is also not a perfect 90 degrees out of the box and is not exactly easy to modify. However it is so close to 90 that most jobs it will not matter. The slight off of 90 also means the other angles and stops aren't perfect out of the box, but again in 99% of homeowner usage it is so close that it will not matter. Over the length of my 8" laminate floor there was between 1/64 and 1/32 of an inch off of a perfect 90 when using two different squares to check. For my project this didn't matter so I didn't adjust it. Had I needed this adjusted it appears I could make some minor tweaks and may do so in the future. Set up of the saw was very quick and easy, the bag catches a lot of dust compared to other saws I have used, and the blade in the box is actually decent enough I didn't have to use my expensive blade for the flooring I did. If I was making a picture frame or cutting laminate ends that would show I would change the blade and that is actually really easy to do. The light around the blade is a nice touch, especially since I was in a dim garage and didn't want to get out my full work light. There is no laser like some saws have, but I prefer to use the blade to line up cuts anyway. Overall, great saw for the price and for the average home owner.

This was pretty much ready to go right out of the box. Worked great for completing the porch project I was doing. Dust bag really doesn't catch much saw dust though. Great buy.

Great piece of equipment
This miter, and the matching stand sold separately, are a serious diamond in the rough. Using it to make cuts for installing baseboard trim and it is so user friendly and is calibrated to make great cuts. Why ever pay for a contractor to do anything again when you can do so much with this saw for under $200?!

The sales price for this sliding miter saw for the value it provides is unbeatable. The provided blade was good quality and made clean cuts with no tear out. The blade was already adjusted to 90. One small issue: the shadow line does not show up well during outdoor daytime use, would have preferred laser line, but I never rely on these to make my cuts. The miter angle was dead on accurate straight out of the box. NOTE: the base is long and very study so on some miter saw stands you will need a plywood sub base to mount saw and then mount to brackets. This saw handled a stack of 5 poplar 1” x 6” boards, 2” x 12” hard dry oak, and various yellow pine and plywood cuts with stock blade and I have had no issues.. but I did buy some good Diablo blades because of online reviews I saw when doing my research. Maybe it wasn’t poor blade performance but instead poor operator technique — I’ll save the Diablo blades for now.

Great Saw, Great Price
Nothing more I can ask for in a miter saw. It’s juat what I needed. Sliding 10” compound miter saw for less than $200. This thing is a steal. I can’t believe I waited so long to get it. My only complaint is now I want the miter saw stand but I just can’t justify the price they sell them for right now.

Avoid this saw
The work peace hold down is terrible. They got rid of the set screw one and replaces it with some friction for one that is impossible to use with one hand. You CAN drill and tap a hole for a set screw making the problem go away, but I worry if something this dumb made it through quality control, the saw might disintegrate at any moment.

It cuts..... Regret not spending more.
So I do some woodworking on the side. Main reason I purchased this was to help me crosscut cuttingboards/signs to avoid switching my ripping blade out on my dewalt table saw. Cut it does, but does not leave a clean finish. I decided to switch out the blade a Diablo 40 tooth crosscut blade. Still the same result. Kind of like the blade wobbles, on thicker stock where two passes are required, the bottom portion is like .01 inches difference. Too much play in the plastic blade cover. Does not leave clean lines I really regret not spending the extra cash :( SEE PICS

fence won’t square with blade
I have had good experiences with Ryobi products in the past. I used this saw to build a workbench and tree boxes, so I didn’t need the cuts to be perfect. But the fence wouldn’t square with the blade. If I take a 4”x4” block of wood and cut one side then rotate it 1/4 turn and cut the other side until I have cut all four sides, the last side has a major variance from being square. The fence has four bolts that can be loosened to adjust in efforts to square it up, but it was so far off that the fence wouldn’t move enough to square up with the blade. Also, when the blade is out to the far end of the sliders, it can be moved 1/4” from side to side, which could create sloppy cuts when extending the slider. I returned the saw and bought a different brand.
