HOW DOES THE BATTERY LAST ON ONE CHARGE ?

Asked by ANNIE July 8, 2015

Answers

More than anything else it is the Amper Hour rating of the battery that gives a clue to the runtime of the blower. A 2 Amper Hour battery will last 10-15 minutes of ON time. A 5 Amper Hour battery may last >45 minutes. DO NOT just keep the trigger on full-blast constantly. It will over-heat the battery and/or the thermal overload circuits and can be destructive to the battery and ruin it. Whenever possible use less than wide open speed. You'll probably find that the leaves blow nearly as well at 75-80% throttle. The battery's run-time will also be greatly extended and less battery heat will develop because of the lessened discharge rate. Whenever possible do not run the battery completely dead. When only one (1) Green Dot is visible on the "Gas Tank" indicator its time to recharge. Do not recharge a battery that is still hot to the touch. Let it cool down for an hour or so before recharging it. This is because as it is recharging it will gain even more heat from the charging process. Always keep in mind that heat is the bain of all Li-ion batteries. They all get hotter the faster they discharge. The hotter they get the more likely they are to sustain permanent internal damage. Too hot and they expire prematurely. At >$100-150 each, they can get quite expensive to replace. I know all of this because I learned all of these lessons the hard way. $260 worth of "the hard way".

Here it is April 27, 2019 and this RYOBI 155 MPH 300 CFM 40-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Jet Fan Blower - 2.6 Ah Battery and Charger Included was advertised recently April 12, 2019 On-Line and it was available then. Now today, April 27, 2019 it is not available. Why isn't this unit available to your Stores? Seems you only have this as an On-Line item for some reason. Would like to know if this item will be available On-Line -or- In-Store by end of May 2019

Why should I buy a battery operated tool that does not come with the battery? No battery, No sale...

If you have other Ryobi 40V products that already have a battery, this will save you the cost of purchasing a redundant battery. They do offer the more expensive version "with" the battery so you have a choice.

Wll this pick up pine needles?

Pick them up no. Blow them yes. Though it would still be difficult. Reason being is pineneedles dont have a lot of surface space to catch wind, that and if in grass they tend to intertwine with it.

The intake is on the back of the device, no way around this, it happens to me too and you just have to hold it further away from your body.

can I purchase this blower without the battery? I already own a ryobi 40V battery.

Asked by bc985898 September 29, 2014

Answers

DO NOT BUY THE 40V RYOBI PRODUCTS. I purchased the edger, weed trimmer and blower and this came with two 40V battery packs and two chargers that by all appearances are IDENTICAL. However, they apparently are not. You cannot use the 40V battery that came with the blower, for example, with the trimmer, nor can you use the chargers from the devices to charge the batteries. I began having issues with one of the 40V batteries and when calling support, they explicitly ask for the device serial number, battery serial number and charger serial number and they match all three together. If you purchased multiple devices like I did you have to go through them all to make sure you get all three that came together. The service rep states that you MUST use all three and cannot interchange any of the devices. So, I purchased 3 of the 40V Ryobi tools and made a bad assumption: your CANNOT use the 40V batteries amongst the devices. This is stupid. I have many other brands of battery tools: drills, blowers, saws, etc. and can intermix any battery by brand: RIGID -> RIGID, Dewalt -> Dewalt, etc. If you buy any RYOBI battery powered products, you have to label the device, battery, and charger and use ONLY those parts together. Don't put the 40V battery for the leaf blower in the 40V charger for the weed trimmer, it will nuke the battery. Same goes for the mower. I can't believe they would sell a product like this. I wish I would have figured this out sooner so I could return all of the products. I have no idea why they are rated so high.

how long does this fan blower run? is your battery also a 5 year warranty

It runs for one half hour.

does the battery discharge during non-use?

I would recommend always removing the battery from the contacts of any tool when not in use for a prolonged time. It shouldn't discharge when disconnected, mine don't. As far as running for up to 30 minutes of use, that is normal in my experience. When these batteries are drained, they just quit. Look at the indicator, it may show one bar but that's all the energy left is to illuminate the light.

Broken handle
We love our Ryobi tools and we have almost every single one and have no other complaints except for this blower, we had it for a year and the handle began to crack. Within six months the handle is completely broken, very disappointed! Hopefully they do not continue with this particular model and make the handle much thicker and unbreakable.

This leaf blower is lightweight and wonderfully balanced. It's perfect for the small jobs I need it for. If you are doing a lot of leaf blowing the battery life may be too short for you but in my opinion not having to drag a cord around makes up for the shorter battery life.

Ryobi 155 MPH 300 CFM 40 Volt-Ion Jet Blower with 2.6 AH Battery and Charger works for the small, and large jobs around the house, and yard. Blows out the garage, lanai, and dry scattered leaves with ease. One battery last for quite a while for the small jobs. I usually use my Ryobi gas blower on the large jobs. I ran out of gas, and didn't feel like doing a gas run so I gave this a try. It was a winter's worth of leaves on my rock landscaping. It rained the day before, so some of the leaves were damp. I went through 3 charged batteries. I had to rack out some areas under the bushes, and in the corners or it would have taken more time, and batteries. I usually just keep blowing out to the back with the Ryobi gas powered blower. But, with this blower we put the piles in the wheelbarrow and carried the leaves out back. It didn't work as good as the gas powered blower, but it got the job done.

Nice lightweight blower
I really like this blower from Ryobi. I have had it for several years and it has quickly become my go to blower. It is lightweight even with the 40volt battery yet has good power and run time. It can get most any material but does struggle with wet leaves in grass.

After trying to deal with starting a gas motor leaf blower and resorting to have my neighbor get it started so many times, I just decided to go cordless. For me it is wonderful. Just be sure to plan so the battery has sufficient charge to do your job. I even get my 9 year old grandson to use it. He loves it.

This blower worked perfectly for what I needed it for. I wanted one that i could just grab and quickly blow off the decks, porch, and driveway without having to drag out extension cords or mess with gas. The battery is big and makes up most of the weight. The charger can be mounted on the wall and I put mine next to the backdoor so it is always ready to go. I would not recommend it for heavy duty yard work, as I feel that it is lacking a bit for the need.
